DVD drive appears

I am trying to burn CDs and DVDs and my computer tells me that I don't have a dvd player.  The light comes on when I put a disc, but no answer and my computer does not show with the rest of my hard drives.  How can I get that back?

This means that the HARD drive or CD/DVD drive appears in the BIOS boot option?
Strange, what model of laptop do you have?
    Have you tried default BIOS?
Otherwise this (press F9 and save the changes to the BIOS)

  • CD/DVD drive not recognized by Windows Vista

I installed a suite of burningb of CD and DVD on my Toshiba (under Vista Home Premium). My CD/DVD drive appeared more in the computer and was no longer functional. I deleted the program I installed and apparently caused the problem, but it did not help. I have read through the help of Microsoft (929461, 314060) documents and used the Fix - It utility. Also unsuccessful. I discovered the response of Martin, the technical support engineer made on May 5, 2009. I followed his instructions with great success. However, my question now is this: I have still some remains of the problem left over. I get an error message at startup saying, 'InstaBurn UDF driver is not installed correctly. Run the InstaBurn installation program. ' InstaBurn is part of the suite of the copy (hotpics by Nova Development Corp.).  I also have an error message of my reader DVD Toshiba saying that the DVD player does not work - although it is. I played a DVD as a test on it after that I followed the instructions above. How can I remove these error messages annoying that aren't accurate?  Would appreciate any information about this minor - but annoying problem.

    Hello

Do a Restore Point then you can go back to where you are if necessary although you should not have to:

How to make a Vista system restore
    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/76905-System-Restore-how.html
    ---------------------------------------------------------------

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

Go to Toshiba and download and drivers or programs that affect the CD/DVD drive - Chipset
and BIOS updates can also play a role.

For any download - SAVE - go to where you put them - click on - RUN AS ADMIN

Toshiba downloads - access your model

Then reinstall the programs that you use for this drive.

  • CD/DVD drive not recognizing discs

Hi there, I have a problem with my CD/DVD ROM its doesn't work simply do not, my E drive which is connected to a port works fine, and because my CD/DVD-ROM does not work I cant do things get, there is an engineer said it was faulty, think its something to do with my upper register / lower filters etc.

The CD/DVD drive appears in the Manager of devices without error?

In addition, you can check the following registry key? :

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

To the registry for this key, in the right window, in the world is here, under 'Name', a LowerFilters and UpperFilters value?

If so, for UpperFilters and LowerFilters, value which is listed under "data"?

  • Asus DVD drive does not

I know there have been quite a few posts on this topic in other forums as well as this one, but none of the proposed solutions have solved my problem.

I did a clean install of Windows 8 on my Intel SSD (c), I have a secondary 1 to (e) and an external USB 3.0 drive (f).  I normally have a D: drive to the DVD player.  I installed WIndows 8 via an installation DVD I created from the downloaded installer.  I was able to complete a clean install.

I used Windows 8 without any problem until I got a DVD with pictures (photos from my wedding!) in my computer. Then I realized that my D: drive was no longer there...  I rebooted thinking it was a fluke. I tried to use several other CD/DVD, but no matter what I did the DVD player was not appear.

First thing, I thought that if he did not have a drive letter assigned, then I went into computer management / disk management and the DVD Player did not show up.  I see in Device Manager: CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives > ASUS DRW-24B1ST. It has a yellow! symbol on the disc.  I uninstalled the driver, rebooted, and he had the yellow!.

I went to ASUS website and tried to install the driver but received an error message that the device was not found.  So I tried manually updating the driver but get this message ' Windows found driver software for your device, but has encountered an error trying to install it. "  Windows cannot start this hardware device because its information of configuration (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) »

I found a forum post referencing the registry providing this command "reg.exe add"HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0"/ f/v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001" I ran this command as an administrator, restarted my computer, but still do not have a functional driver.

Anyone know how I can "adjust" the registry so that this DVD player will appear and be usable again?  I don't think there is an error with the drive itself since it was used to install windows 8 and has been very well supported.  I have to check that it is correctly connected to the motherboard as well.

    Thanks for all your help!

    FIXED!

I found the solution! So my post above will make me look like an idiot now, but the ASUS technical support has been incredible and provided a fix!  It 100% corrected my problem and my DVD drive appears in the workstation again.

Here are the instructions that they sent me.  I don't know if this is specific to the ASUS DRW-24B1ST drive, or if this will fix the problem with any DVD player.

Click on start--> run, type "regedit" and click OK
Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key (it looks like a folder) by double clicking it (or clicking on the '+' next to it.)
    Expand the SYSTEM key
    Expand the CurrentControlSet key
    Expand the control key
    Expand the class key
Please look for a key containing the following string of letter and numbers: {4D36E965-E325-11CE - BFC1 -

  • Satellite Pro U400 - 24 - crack appeared in the frame above the DVD drive

I have a fairly new Satellite Pro U400 - 24 hours (seven months), where a crack appeared just above the DVD drive, close to the screen where the slot ends. I know for sure that I havn't dropped it, so I just want to know if it is a problem that everyone knows? If the framework becomes fragile due to heating (it's pretty warm when he must preform)

    Hey,.

I put t really know why this happens, but on my Satellite U400 I couldn t notice such a problem. I have a year now and it works perfectly and the case doesn't have a crack or something.

In my opinion, you should contact an authorized service provider. Guys can order a new replacement part and swap it for you! :)

  • DVD drive not appearing not since I upgraded to Windows 7

    pls someone help me...

    Hi payaso1968,

Can you post a few more details on the model of your laptop, how to upgrade the operating system, etc.. ?

The DVD drive is listed in Device Manager or do not appear also?

Have you ever tried dismantling of the upper and lower filters in the registry?

  • DVD drive does not appear on the screen of the reader 'computer '.

I lost access to the DVD drive. It does not appear on the screen of the reader 'computer '.
It starts with a disc inserted, but stops after about 20 seconds without opening all files.
The DVD comes on when it starts first and then turns off after a few seconds.
I have re-installed the driver of Toshiba and still no access.

I think it all started when I installed a new WD 1 TB external hard drive which its virtual CD drive on the E: drive, which was used by the installation DVD player. I moved the external hard drive G: and drive E: letter has left vacant, but still does not work.

Any ideas how I can fix this problem? It would be greatly appreciated.

Optical disc drive is listed correctly in the Device Manager?

  • Satellite A100: CD/DVD drive does not appear in the Manager of peripherals and BIOS

The CD/DVD drive does not appear in the window manager and I can't incert CD
The BIOS displays "none" instead of "optical device".

This means that the CD device is dead?

    Hey Micky,

Unfortunately it's probably :-(. You can try to remove the optical drive and then reinsert it into Notepad, and then marketing and see if it is recognized as a new device.

Check also that it is not displayed in Device Manager and if it is remove before trying the above.

  • CD/DVD drive does not appear in Windows 8

My CD/DVD drive no longer appears in Windows Explorer in point 8.1 of Windows on my desktop HP Pavilion Slimline 400-034. The disc rotates during startup. I tried the troubleshooting of Microsoft Window 8 with no luck. I would try the HP troubleshooting which requires access BIOS when booting, but by pressing F10 at startup me does not BIOS but Windows load normally. Any suggestions to at least help me get the BIOS?

Solved! No. thanks to HP. Even if I had never opened the file on my PC and make sure that the cable DVD could not be disconnected, I decided to look for. Much to my surprise, he has been disconnected - but not by me - by a HP technician. I remembered that I had to return the PC to HP to replace the power supply warranty in June 2014. Not only have they not reconnect the cable SATA DVD, they put the cable from the hard drive in the MB connector where the DVD cable was supposed to be. After trial and error and insert the DVD cable in the 3 open SATA connectors with no luck, and finally move the cable from the hard drive to another connector and put the cable DVD where the cable from the hard drive was, the DVD has been recognized by Windows and working correctly. Thanks to HP for the many hours I lost to try to correct their mistake.
