  Yes, the problem here is the ID of engraver of DVD (CSEL) UJ - 831S. You must have the carpet * a DVD burner connected to the secondary IDE Atapi port as a master flash.
  Probably your G10 is recognizing as an oucederomsurlesecondport IDE IDE slave secondary.
  Unfortunately there is no firmware to change the internal Atapi drive ID.
  You can ask Toshiba for the firmware, but I think that they will not give him to you.

  I understand that you want to know if changing to a second HDD DVD player could void your warranty.

  Withdrawal of the DVD player and to use a disc HARD in its place will not void your warranty.  The warranty for the rest of the components are still in effect, but there are some things you need to know.  If a recovery is necessary, you will need restore the hardware configuration to the original configuration.  This is so that recovery can end as it is written to the system with a single HARD drive installed.  The guarantee for this specific HDD is not covered by HP, but by the manufacturer of the drive (you probably knew that already).  If the appliance must be sent repair, you need more that probably remove the second HDD and the DVD of restoration before sending it.  Keep the reader of DVD handy, just in case you need it for one of these events.

  Thank you for all your advice.  I looked inside my computer case and found that the unit uses an IDE cable (you were right @wb2001 - my computer was difficult to access, being hidden under a desk, and so I was trying to avoid that, so my @lasvegaswireman questions).  I saw 3 other available ports for SATA connections (as @Paul_Tikkanen said) and a power cable which forks 2 fittings power Molex and ended with a SATA power connection.  I looked around and couldn't find a DVD IDE burner (right once again @wb2001), unless I went used, so I decided to buy a new HP DVD burner that happened to come with a SATA cable.  So I have a SATA cable connection, I have SATA power cable connection and ports available to connect, so I should be good to go.  Thank you all for your comments and for pushing me just open my computer and watch.
