DW CS3 Preview in the file browser on the network

I'm working on a file stored on a network Volume on a Mac (with DW CS3)

When I saw in the browser, I get this error in the browser window:

"File not found".
Firefox can't find the file at / Mac Mini HD/Users/pat/Sites/CT/index.html. »

I get the same error of more or less in Safari.

The correct path should be Volumes/pat/Sites/CT/index.html.

Any ideas how to solve this problem?

Thank you, Pat

Hi Murray,

Thanks for your response - you set me on the right path.

I had my folder root Local: "pat: Sites: CT:

I needed to put "Volumes:" in THREE places in the site manager.

Local Info tab
1. "local root folder"-> "Volumes: pat: Sites: CT:
2 record Images by default"->" Volumes: pat: Sites: CT:images:

Site Map page-layout tab
3 "volumes: pat: Sites: CT:index.html.

That fixed it!

  • Preview in the browser opens the local file instead of the url in DW CC 2015

In 2014 Dreamweaver when I defined a site, I check it too remote and test server since they are the same. Once I finish editing I use Ctrl + Shift + u to upload to the server and if it is not still open in the browser, I press F12 to preview, and he opens the url. In 2015, Dreamweaver, I uncheck/remove the test server and leave only the remote server for so I have a defined test server, whenever I have downloads on the server automatically (which is annoying if you're not done with your changes yet or you have a little time of latency on your FTP connection). It's bulky, since it's a habit whenever I have some changes and download only when I'm about to test the changes. With the undefined testing server, when I press F12, the DW redirects to the local file instead of the URL defined in site settings. Now, I have to type the full url for each page I test. It is an approach back the previous version. Either enable in the browser preview, open the real link, as defined in site settings or please have an option to disable the auto push when recording. Thank you!

First of all, you are right in your new configuration that remote and testing server should not be in the same.  It is not a good habit to get.  However, without a test in place server, DW will only use the local file to test because you don't want to push the Webcam page live on the server until it is complete.  In this case, DW creates a temporary file that you can view on your local computer.  In general, it is recommended to have a test server, if that exists within your local environment with local installation of WAMP/MAMP or Windows Server.  Or a specified test server environment that is not accessible to the public where you can test.

In addition, to save them automatically download to the server and overwrite the file direct download or not, those are 2 settings to DW within which can be displayed/hidden.  First of all, in the DW preferences, there is a setting for "Preview in browser".  In this context, there is a checkbox to choose whether to display a preview with a temporary file.  If you have no other choice then to use the server as a test platform, you probably want to check this box to preview using a temporary file rather than overwrite the direct file each time.  Then if you go to the server management and change your test server, go to the Advanced tab and uncheck the box for "check automatically download files on the server.  This will disable the download file automatically the file on the server when you save, allowing you to download only when you preview and test.

  • Author of CS3 "Preview in browser".

My company has recently spend all authors to contribute CS3, Contribute 3. In the previous version I have, as a system administrator, gave each a new ccmenus.xml file allowing authors (i.e. the roles without editing permissions) to use F12 to "Preview in browser". However, now that we have CS3 (i.e. v4.1), this no longer works.

I need to my authors to get an overview of their work before sending for review, especially as the models that I created for them to use strongly depend on the scripted parts, which means that what they see in "edit" mode is nothing of such as the result immediately upon publication.

How to re - activate the F12 feature for authors?

    I found the file ccmenus.xml in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe contribute CS3\Configuration\Menus\.

    This is the xml code:

    Maybe you can change that:

I've tested this as a writer and I can get a preview of the page in the browser by pressing F12 or clicking on file, preview in browser.

  • Get a preview of image files but not the other files

In the Finder (or an alternative file manager) is there a way to show previews of image files, but not for the other files?

With the image files, it will display a preview. With other types of file, a preview is useless and its best to see a standard icon indicating the file type.

Any decent file on all Linux distributions browser lets you choose Preview vs standard icon based on case by case basis depending on the file type. I can't see how to proceed in the Finder (or the various alternatives as TotalFinder). How can I me Finder for this?

The thumbnails, you mean? I don't think that there is a 'decent' solution for OS x. But then again, I don't know everything.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x 64 and use a large number of PDF documents.

My problem is that only some PDF document files that I leave on my desk display the image thumbnails.
Others show just a generic Adobe logo and a red rectangle that says PDF.
It seems random, on 60% images, logos of 40%. I contacted Adobe and sought in several forums, but can't seem to get an answer.

I know it's just a nuisance, but it bothers me little. (I think it's the same thing in Vista Ultimate x 64)

    Hey, Wayne Claus.

I found the following on the Forums of Support from Adobe , which implies to me that it is a problem with Adobe and 64-bit operating systems:

Marin85 on forum.thinkpads.com has found a solution to this problem. Seems that the problem occurs on 64 bit systems. Win 7 32 bit version creates the miniature .pdf automatically with Adobe Pro v9. However, this is not the case with Win 7 x 64. Note that on Vista or XP, but it might be the same number of 32-bit/64-bit.

If the thumbnails are not be generated automatically, in order to create a thumbnail preview instead of the regular pdf icon, you just browse to a folder containing PDFs OF IN ACROBAT READER and select the 'Tiles' of the 'Open files' window view Acrobat then creates miniature previews for the PDF files in that particular folder.

I knew that I had seen something on this problem elsewhere and see that it's an Adobe problem needs to be addressed! I found the link when looking for an answer to a different question. See Finally, a fix for the bug to preview PDF in Windows 64-bit by Microsoft MVP & Tech, Ed Bott author.

  • Preview in the toolbar of the browser?

I can't find / show / activate the toolbar that has the small preview in the browser icon. What I see at the top of my screen is Code | Split | Design and nothing else.

None of the toolbars (paper, Standard, coding) do it.

    The icon has moved down.

Or select file > Preview in browser, and then select one of the listed browsers.

Note: If no browser is listed, select Edition > Preferences, or Dreamweaver > Preferences (Macintosh), and then select the preview in browser category on the left to select a browser.

    • Press F12 (Windows) or Option + F12 (Macintosh) to display the current page in the main browser.

    • Press Ctrl + F12 (Windows) or command + F12 (Macintosh) to display the current page in the secondary browser.

  • How can I force a download rather than open a preview of the file of the file a hyperlink?

When I hyperlink a file (pdf, txt, etc.) it opens a preview of the file, rather than just start downloading, I wonder how to achieve this.

Example of what I want to do...

    https://www.Google.com/chrome/browser/desktop/index.html

When you click on "Download Chrome", it opens a window asking if you want to download, then when you click Yes it downloads the file.

I would like to do exactly that, or force the download immediately, without popup dialog box.

As RavenDesign mentions, just file > publish > Web, then download the file published to a folder on an external host.

  • To see a preview of the HTML Page Local with the last change: remove 1) temporary files press button refresh?

    Hello

Should I also remove browser hisory their output?

    see you soon,

    101.1 Dreamweaver

There are 2 ways you can do a preview in the browser (depending on your preferences settings):

    1 Preview using temporary files

    2. Overview do not use temporary files

If you use method 2, then every time get you a preview, the last saved version of the file will be loaded by the browser for preview.  So, to see your most recent changes, just SAVE the file.

If you use method 1, then whenever get you a glimpse, a temporary file is built by DW of the current page, and the temporary file is what is seen in the browser.  Whenever you preview a page, a NEW temporary file is created.

With method 1, you must save the page before you can preview.  With method 2, you don't have to save the page until you can get an overview.

    That answer your question?

  • PS CS5 will not save the preview of the EPS files

I'm running a trial version of CS5 Design Premium on an all new Core i5 iMac with 8 GB RAM and running SL 10.6.3. So far, I have not noticed no major glitches, except for the following:

When I save an image in EPS, I usually choose the standard Mac 8 bit preview. In this way, when put in Quark, I see the image. On my previous iMac, in CS3 and Leopard 10.5.8, it worked well when you import into Quark 7.5.

Now, however, when you import the EPS in Quark 8.1.6, not a NOT preview. He even indicates that no preview is included in the 'Import image' window before you import it in, even though I see the 'Preview' in the preview window bit. All I get in Quark is a grey area with the name written inside. It's a bit weird!

Then I thought, it's perhaps a question of Quark. I tried to import the same EPS file into my old iMac using Quark 7.5 and it does the same thing: no preview.

What is even more strange is that I took an old EPS that has a visible outline and no other parameters changed he re-recorded (after resizing). The preview in Quark. Boom! Gone! New files behave in the same way.

Another thing, I tried: I recorded it using a TIFF Preview. That seemed to work, although the preview looked very bad quality. That can work in a pinch, but this does not solve the problem of why my EPS files don't save not previews even though they are supposed to be included in the basic Mac preview options.

Resave the EPS as TIF also works very well, but even once, does not solve the problem.

Is this a bug or am I missing something?

The problem with TIFF is that it produces a high-color misleading
listen to samples, which is not useful in the layout. The JPEG preview is (or
was, when he worked) a much more representative image.

If they differ, then it is a problem in the software displaying the EPS file. There is no reason that JPEG and TIFF previews must be different.

If not, my guess is that in creating this definition of the site, when the site «»

    ASP.

Fix ' open definition site for editing.
    Click the Advanced tab.
in test server info, set access to zero.

then in the dw files Panel. Rename the template.dwt.asp to template.dwt
