e-mail files

I have OSX 10.11.2 and when I upgraded to this version I lost all my emails. I have a WD My passport for Mac with backups on it but can not find the e-mail files. I found some on my mac to machd/users/user/library/containers/com.apple.mail/data/library/maildownloads, but could not find the library during the backup. GeekSquad was not able to find them. Anyone know where they are?  Thank you

Users-> yourname-> library-> Mail

Users-> yourname-> library-> Mail Downloads

If you copy both your desktop from your backup and use the Mail Mail menu-> import boxes mailbox and select the folder to import, it will import them on the folder of the user who is logged.

  • email and electronic mail files are missing... How to bring them back?

My Thunderbird account suddenly disappeared. I have Thunderbird back, but all of my saved emails are missing. Some of the Inbox went back to June 20, returned in a single account, but all the others are missing. Sent folder is empty like the others. I can find where the files are located on the computer, but I don't know how to bring back them to Thunderbird, if I'm right.

I don't know if I've been hacked or whether it is a quirk that can be fixed. If anyone can help me, I'll be really grateful. Thank you!!!

My best guess what happened was Thunderbird lost track of your profile (for some reason any) and started with a new clean profile.
You could recover the existing profile, but since you already took the trouble to recreate your accounts, it is not necessary.

I can find where are all the emails/files, but I can't find a way to restore them.

    Install this add-on.
    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Thunderbird/addon/ImportExportTools/

Then you can it use to import existing e-mail files of the old profile. Note that e-mail files are those without file extension, for example, "Inbox" or "sent".

If there is anything else, you can retrieve it from the old profile, see this article.

  • My Tbird mail file went suddenly from 1.5 to 10 GIG, how to fix?

I'm short on osx5 with an older version of you bird. Everything was going well for many years
and a month ago, the file of the mailbox that I save went from 1.5 gig (logic
Since I'm important material saved from several accounts in several files) to
more than 3 GB, and then today it swelled to 9 concert, so it is devouring my limited
available disk space on my laptop. I also get messages that the 'Inbox' is full, what's new,
but I can't say which of 11 possible inboxes complains. None of these inboxes
have over 50 messages in them.

I can materially cut this huge file, like a runaway process is
prevents me from doing deletions, asserting that "another process" block
My destruction. At the same time, the volume of the mail file continues to grow, which
threatens to lock up my laptop everything like disk space disappears.

    Advice please

Compact in the menu file calls all records. Compact in the menu contextual right click only calls the selected folder.

Note that if you save the mail from line to white line ending with an EML file extension. Double click, it should see it open in Thunderbird if it is really all there.

  • moving the mail files

    Hello

I have an iMac desktop and MacBook Pro - I only use the iMac for my mail (POP accounts - iMap, not - I don't want to use the iMap Protocol)

a few times a year I travel for a month or more and take my Macbook Pro - normally I just sync my folders file by using folders Synchronizer - I did this for many years and it serves well

BOF mail normally I do an export of the mail files, I think I will need on the iMac and import them into mail on the MacBook - and of course I always need a message to a folder, that I had not saved!

is there a way to compress a folder on the iMac and move on how which?

the folder on the Macbook and move again once I get home then zip?

as I said I don't want to use the iMap protocol that I get lots of messages and do not want it on all devices

    OR

I could use my backup Time Machine- or is there a problem using a backup of office with a laptop?

  • How to open e-mail files old place locally in my Thunderbird profile

I have several old e-mail files that are located in the subfolder imap to my Thunderbird default profile which is held in Appdata/roaming/thunderbird.

Email accounts are no longer active on the net, but now I need to see an old email for several years and I cannot work out how to get that back in Thunderbird so that I can read.

    Install the ImportExportTools extension.
    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Thunderbird/addon/ImportExportTools/

This will allow you to import existing e-mail files from the old IMAP account in your local folders account.

Note that the e-mail files are mbox files.

  • I have copy of old tbird and seamonkey e-mail files with the files and emails for each. I need to add to new tbird install. can not find a way to do it. Help

I have copy of old tbird and seamonkey e-mail files with the files and emails for each. I need to add to new tbird install. can not find a way to do it. HELP PLEASE. previous e-mail files are under mail then mail.earthlink* .net and each of the five mail .net is an email address I have. I can't find a way to identify each file by email to the specific email address (IE mail.my E-mail name.net) so I can copy the files and emails from the past to the email addresses now under tbird. previous installed e-mail identities may not be the current configuration of e-mail files in tbird. I think that I must be sure that mail.name.net matches the previous mail.name.net to be able to copy and paste the old to the new. is there a way to find the file name correct the old email and correspond to the new? all my emails very important information are mostly in the old mail electronic id and must be available in the identification of email again (but same) how can I do this?

I have a lot of old e-mail files I try to delete, but they remain in the file from the Recycle Bin of 2009. How can I get rid of them?

If you have an IMAP account, go to Mail/preferences/accounts/box mailbox behaviors and make sure that the store deleted messages on the server is not checked. If this is the case, uncheck the box and see if you can remove the trash.

If that is not working, go to Mail/trash, select an e-mail message and then control - click/Delete. Does it work?

I was under the impression that by moving files from my server to the local folder all my emails have been saved on my hard drive. However, my hard drive crashed and I had to use data recovery to recover my files. Now I can not find the windows mail files. A tech guy told me that all my emails were actually only saved on the application not on my computer, is it true? You export the files in order to save messages? How do you do that?

    Thank you!

    Amanda

    The default location is;
    "C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail".

If you used a customer web email msgs are stored on the web messaging server, if you used windows mail applications they are saved on the disk, your tech is not very tech.

  • Windows live mail file location, backup,

I need to reinstall windows 7 and I need be sure that I get my emails from windows live mail and saved contacts client.   I can't find the location of the file to copy to an external source.

Where can I find the e-mail files and contacts?

What is the best way to save and import when I set up the reinstallation?

If you want to back up all aspects of Windows Live Mail, including settings of the account, rules, etc. use this third-party utility:

It does not transfer the contacts, but you can easily re - sync those if you used the option to connect to Windows Live Mail.

  • Where's my windows live mail files.

After you have reinstalled windows 7 where did my windows live mail files go. I didn't backup my files before reinstalling a windows clean 7. If my email folders can be found? a new operating system?

When you clean install, you lose everything.  You can check if backup was performed automatically in the c:\windows.old\ folder, but it is unlikely with a clean install.

But, if you have used the program with a mail server online (such as Hotmail, MSN, Outlook.com or Gmail) then your emails and folders will always be online on the website of electronic mail as a backup.

  • How can I batch of E-mail files in folders instead of one at a time?

I save my subscription by E-mail in separate folders but I've been lax in filing and have more than 700 to file. After is sorting by sender a way for the batch instead of one file at a time? I use Thunderbird 38.01

You use the methods of standard selection on the computer.

Select message 1, up or down several message and hold the SHIFT key while clicking on the message 2 = this will select message 1 and 2 and all the messages between the two

Hold down the CTRL key while clicking random messages = this will select any message clicked on.

When you have selected messages you can right-click and select move to or drag and drop. Moving to is easier and more reliable when you work with multiple messages.

I will not try and move all messages from 700 in one shot. Break it down into smaller batches.
