E4200 - SSID how?

From what I read, the E4200 is supported by two separate networks, one on the 2.4 GHz band, one on the 5 GHz band, then an additional network for guests on the 2.4 GHz band.  Is it possible to have the comments rather like a normal network network so there are 3 SSID separate usable, all protected by WPA2 and normal functioning as networks?

The reason why I ask is that we have several devices in our House, some that can only A/B/G and that it can not connect to networks N only, some Wireless N only on the 2.4 GHz band and some up on the band 5 GHz, the ideal for us would be:

Mixed Mode 2.4 GHz network

Network N only 2.4 GHz

Network N only on 5 GHz

I would like to know is that it is possible with the E4200, thank you!

No, the feedback network is the internet, it cannot see other hosts on the network of comments or other hosts on other networks, either.  It's just a network of comments, for customers who just need to access the internet.   There are other ways to get what you are looking for, but you will need another router to do.

  • E4200 forget how to read the drive

As the subject says after running poorly, but at least running with my 2 to external hard drive attached Buffalo my E4200 is now a failure as a NAS.

It will not display a speed of USB, but claims to know how big the drive is. He claims there is also no action on the disc, it was reading very well last week.

A quick test by plugging the drive into a PC shows that it works perfectly.

He is currently blocked "Detection" on storage - menu disc.

The SIN of this router performance is catastrophic, given its cost, I was hoping rather a 1.0.02 upgrade would solve things, he seems to have done the worst.

This is clearly a firmware issue, the behavior cannot be explained by anything else.

If anyone has a work around for that while Cisco hired wherever they are cheapest in the developers of the world are considering ways to degrade the NAS functionality (I thought 35Mbit on a player capable of > 150 Mbps via USB direct has impressive degradation!) even further it would be most appreciated.

Why close a maximum, I found the 1.0.01 firmware online and inspired to the router.

The drive works again and the instability of 2.4 GHz went.

Disgusting that Cisco Linksys have released new software to fix the wireless, NAS or media problems of server or at least reconstituted 1.0.01.

  • To access the befw11s4v4 with active e4200

I have a Motorola modem cable with switch 8 ports, connected on it. I have also E4200 and BEFW11s4v4 connected to the switch. I used BEFW mainly ports to connect my directv box and blu - ray DVD player to the internet in another room.  I noticed a very good signal from befw11s4v4. I would like to turn it off or use the wifi b, but I forgot the password to it and I can not install befw11s4v4 with active E4200. (192.168.1.1 is taken by e4200). How can she (befw11s4v4)?  I don't want to reset befw11s4v4 because that would make its unsecured wifi. Can I use a laptop computer to install befw11s4v4 and change its IP 192.168.2.1 address, for example, but I would like to power access time (E4200 and befw11s4v4) to my desktop PC. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your reply. Of course, I couldn't access two gateways with one LAN port on my desktop at the same time. I have connected my laptop to BEFW so I was able to transform the 'b's broadcast, which was not connect in any case. I use my old router BEFW for 'tax' reasons, it works very well with my directv box and blu - ray. Don't want to spend the money immediately on another switch or run another 50 ft. of cable.

    Hello

Looking to pronounce on the subject of comment Vlan.

How can I avoid traffic guess DATA VLAN, VLAN routing all traffic to VLAN comments should be sent directly to the Internet.

You are looking for a similar mounting as Hotels, Guest are provided with name of user and password with internet access time and limit the download speed.

Do I have to create a different SSID on the WLC and how guest users will acquire intellectual property, WLC DHCP or DHCP Windows.

If its Windows DHCP traffic may comment reached my VLAN database

    Any help

    We got WLC 4420 - hear - you a 4402-xx

    Series AP 1200 (quantity 5)

I'm new to WLC, can you help me understand

    • SSID how we can configure on WLC, each ssid can have different config settings.

The AP and the Code you have supports only 8-16.  You do not want to configure too (it's about 4) because of all the tags that must be sent could cause problems with some devices.  You can configure ssid reproduced the same thing different, it is up to you.  Follow best practices on it.

    • can disseminate us the specific SSID access point configured with WLC (AP #1 can be used for the DATA & SSID SSID) (AP #2 may be partners comments & SSID SSID)

You can create WLAN substitute (according to code - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_configuration_example09186a00807669af.shtml) to specify what AP will be braodcast of this SSID.  This can be annoying if you have gaps for roaming, unless it's not a question.

    • For the SSID is recommended to connect to a port seprate WLC

    You have different options:

    • You can use a controller of comments you anchor DMZ
    • You can use a port on the WLC connected to your internal network and the other port of the DMZ
    • You can trunk VLANS and use ACL to ban all traffic inside networks comments.

It all depends on you the existing infrastructure and if you are planning to buy more material, or use the existing.

    • Instead of create users invited to WLC with time restriction, is third possible with ease of management. (Secretary of the Board can give internet access to the comments)

You can use a comment of the NAC server... If you want to spend a lot of money.  You can configure an Admin of Lobby on the WLC account so that the Secretary has only read/write to add guest accounts.  It would be the same if you have a Toilet with a Hall administrator account.

I put a few links above... hope this helps.  Yet once, it will come down to your existing environment and how much you want to spend.  It should also look at the point where he could take the facility, will be the Secretary want to do that, etc.?  How I see the access as a guest... Well... they come out a separate sheath of the internet, so I don't really care about bandwidth.  Its guests so that they would have to deal with than nowhere go, the same hotspost or even worse hotels :)  Keep it simple and make it work... then you can add that later when you get more familiar with the configuration and troubleshooting.

  • How do I an E4200 with a WRT54G cascading

I read this article and I am new to this, so...

    http://www6.nohold.NET/Cisco2/UKP.aspx?pid=80&VW=1&articleid=3733

I'm trying to go the E4200 cable modem > LAN > WRT54G then Wifi with the same SSID as the E4200 to reinforce the range.

    E4200 is set at 192.168.1.1

    WRT54G is set to 192.168.1.2

How LAN Port connect the LAN on the WRT54G?

So, how can I configure the WRT54G for DHCP, SSID, password...  I use WPA for security.

Here is another article that could be useful.  Basically, you have an ethernet cable from 1 of the 4 ethernet ports on the e4200, that connects to one of the 4 ports ethernet on the wrt54g.

You must disable dhcp on the 54g (all addresses will be ' awarded by the e4200") the 54g must be assigned an address outside the range of addresses dhcp on e4200.  SSID and paswords should be the same on both routers.

    Hey Andy,

You can try to enter the password in the section "WPA - PSK", instead of "WEP encryption" section, to see if it will work. It won't hurt to not test.

Your Athreos has never connected? If it has connected then it not only connects it to insecure networks? Also after can trying to connect you do the following?

Start, run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:

    Type the following command:

    IPCONFIG/ALL

[Note that there is no space between the oblique and ALL bar].

Right click in the command window and choose Select all, and then press ENTER.
Paste the results in a message here.

    Hi Majekho,

Your domain name has decided to 99.245.xx.x. If you go to www.test.tzo.com from the location of the host, you must see this IP address. If these numbers are the same, then all with TZO works correctly. I guess that it is a simple problem with ports (80, 1024) is not open in the router and forwarded to the right internal IP address of the device (for example. 192.168.1.xxx).

In addition, if you have a DSL, you will need to call your ISP and ask them to show you how to put your modem in "bridge mode". This will disable the firewall in the modem that blocks incoming connections even if you open ports in your router.
In addition, during the test, it is best to test on your device remotely, this is due to a common problem called loopback with most routers. For more information about looping, take a look at:

  • How to determine the E4200 V1 or V2?

Pages support and registration for the E4200 wireless router ask if I have a router V1 or V2. There is no place on the real router which identify it as V1 or V2, and Cisco Connect app does not display this information. What I know is the following:

    Model name: Linksys E4200

    Model number: E4200

    Serial number: 01C10C18104423

    Firmware version: 1.0.03 build 14

    Software version: 1.4.12005.2

How can I determine if this is a router V1 or V2? The software updates are version specific.

    Thank you

There is no need becauser there is NO version number printed at the bottom of the router. The point of all of the link was to help distinguish between V1 and V2 E4200, which he did not. Indeed, the model number is not printed on the label at all. It is engraved in the plastic under the label box. The label contains the serial number, MAC address, and another number nnnn-nnnn. There is no version number or model number.

  • How to upgrade the firmware on my router e4200

Hello world. Sorry for the noob question, but I have been everywhere for this search.

I currently have the name of the model: Linksys E4200 Firmware version: 1.0.04)is build 11 software version: 1.4.12100.0

I am trying to upgrade to the second version, and up to date. (Version: 2.0) firmware. Links or how to do it? I tried to do it through my router settings under administration-> firmware update, but it will not refresh automatically. I need to find the real update file and update the firmware there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi you won't be able to upgrade your router to Version 2.0, since this version refers to the material. E4200 has 2 versions of material. The firmware version you have is for the V1 E4200 and you already have the most recent. No need to look for any other update, since you already have it.

  • E4200 Lan LAN connection - how to access the router

Just bought the E4200 (for a home network) and have implemented as a Lan - Lan connection success. My Siemens Spreadstream DSL modem 6520 provided by Bell Aliant (is a wireless router / and is used as DHCP).  On the E4200 as per instruction changed the IP of E4200 address to 192.168.1.2, turned off the DHCP and NAT set to disabled. The E4200 is linked directly from the SpeedStream ethernet port to ports numbered on E4200 (not the internet port). The SpreedStream also feeds a Linksys switch with 16 ports (SD216).  When I connect a laptop through the new E4200 wirelesss network, I am able to see the rest of my network fine.

When I connect a PC with the CISCO software installed to one of the ports E4200 software cannot access router of the E4200. I type 198.168.1.2 as a web address, but cannot connect. My question is, after all, the background information is... How can I access my new router E4200 to make changes with my lan - lan configuration. I want to be able to add an external drive USD to USB port of the E4200 years set up the account of wireless of comments.

Change the address LAN IP of the E4200 to 192.168.2.2. Except, however, if 192.168.2.2 is part of the Siemens server DHCP address pool. Check which addresses IP Siemens allows to assign by using DHCP. The E4200 address must not be included.

If you have the latest firmware installed your E4200 takes the bridge mode. In bridge mode, you can use the E4200 as access point connecting with the internet port for your Siemens. This way you can also use network comments and other features that will not or do not fully work with the configuration that you have right now...
