  • Update the firmware from E4200v2 to 2.0.37.131047

I hope that I don't have a big mistake buying Cisco... I just bought 3 routers E4200v2. As I am preparing to install, I try to update the firmware of 2.0.26-> 2.0.37.  I downloaded the zip file from the site of Cisco technical support and when unzipped the file is named FW_E4200_2.0.37.131047.SSA. When I try to do a manual update of the Admin page, I immediately get an image file is incorrect error.

I downloaded the file three times in total on 2 separate networks and have tried three different browsers to try the update, with the same error. Support chat sessions proved worthless, they seem very scripted and the last of them has always tried to sell me a support contract...

I want to stay with the classic firmware, even if there is no current bugs. Someone at - it a 'good' copy firmware 131047? It seems to me that one on the Cisco site is broken.

You can rename the file FW_E4200_2.0.37.131047.SSA in FW_E4200_2.0.37.131047.IMG or update the automatic firmware on the router page (this 2.0.37.131047 firmware will allow you to update manually to 2.1.38.138880).

  • Printer + storage networking with X 3000 (for internet) & E4200V2 (with bridge for the extension of coverage)

    Salam,

Would someone please quite friendly and find out about the different ways to connect a printer to the X 3000.

I could not find in the User Guide where it says or explains how to connect a printer to the X 3000, that is wireless, USB port, or directly through one of the LAN ports.  I also checked the product information for X 3000 on the CISCO Web site and it is referred to as StorageLink USB port.

Another question. Recently, someone on these forums told me hot to connect an E1500 in Bridge mode to my X 3000 and you explain everything very well.  Since then, I have reconsidered and now I am looking to buy the E4200V2 for to connect bridge for my 3000 X instead of the E1500.  Correct me if I'm wrong but connect the E4200V2 to my 3000 X should be the same linking the E1500 my 3000 X, i.e. the bridge mode? Yes or no?

And my last series of questions is rregarding what would be the best editing for adding a storage device and a printer to my network once I get the E4200V2 and configure it in Bridge mode?

-Can I connect the printer storage and device to my E4200V2?

-Should I connect both my X 3000, that provides my internet connection?

-Should I connect to the X 3000 and the other for the E4200, if so, to which, for best set-up?

I hope I'm not too ask.  Eagerly look forward to the answers.

    Abu Adam

    1. the X 3000 USB port is only for the storagelink. Not for printing.

    2. connect the E4200 in Bridge mode as the E1500.

    3. If you want the storage to be accessible from the internet, you need to connect to the X 3000. If you want only accessible from the local network you can connect to either the X 3000 or the E4200.

    4. a USB printer only goes with the E4200. However, if you printer has a network (wired or wireless) interface, I highly recommend to connect the printer via ethernet / wireless and not via the USB port through the router.

    5. as a general rule, you should be better off with the storage attached to the E4200 instead of the X 3000. In this way, the power of the processor of the E4200 can be used for storage handling and X 3000 can do the routing. But that obviously depends on the load at a time (that is how you use the storage) and the limits that you hit. Maybe it makes not a difference when you connect. The best way to know is to test...

  • An e4200v2 reset

I bought a used e4200v2. I can't connect to the GUI because I don't know the user name and password.
I tried the 30/30/30 reset, 10 second reset, nothing works.
If I put a continuous ping to the router I get a TTL = 64 response, when I reset, I can see the ping interrupted, expire, then resume after it re boots, but it isn't actually resets. The ssid broadcast is still the same and it is not a default ssid.
This is clearly an ssid that has been set. This is the ssid panelist.

I solved the problem with a hint of jlbjlb. I did a search for 'experts' on the forum. Looks like I wasn't the only one with the problem. The user name is "admin" password is "google".
Here is a link to the subject said in case anyone is interested.

    PC Web browser configurations
    What browser do you use?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, test value and mode of compatibility again.
Disable any security browser addons such as No Script and Ad-Block or set them to allow all Pages when it is connected to the router.
    Clear all caches browser.
Don't forget to log on to the Admin account on the router.
Try disabling these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, few bars options > settings > settings (left) > see the advanced settings.
    Uncheck the box for these:
Use a web service to help solve the navigational errors
Use a service forecast for complete searches and URLS typed in the address bar
Predict the actions of the network to improve the performance of page loading
Activate the protection from phishing and malware

    I recommend doing the following:
1 save the router config to the file first using IE or FF with all modules disabled security.
2 factory reset the router with all devices disconnected or turned off accept for 1 Wired PC.
3 reload or update the FW using IE or FF. Just download the FW file to your wired local LAN PC.
4 factory reset the router and then set up from zero all first and test with loading saved configuration from the file. Check if problems are solved before loading the saved configuration file.

  • The QGP on E4200v2 really work?

    I have a synology DS411 and an ATV2

DS411 is always downloading from the internet, normally download "DS411 bandwidth is about 2 MB/s

In my old netgear 3800, I just need active WMM and add a port to the port DS411 QGP is low.

Then when I watch video stream from the internet on my ATV2. I can see the bandwidth of the DS411 will be reduced automatically.

I replaced 3800 with E4200v2 a few days before, and I had the same configuration, turn on WMM, ATV MAC at the highest and DS411 MAC down.

But when I look at have ATV2 DS411 bandwidth does not seem to be reduced, so I can't get the good video very bad sound

Everyone met same status that QOS works does not like me?

    Thank you very much

    mting wrote:

is that fair QOS control uplink?

Yes of course. You can only control the uplink to your end.

QoS on the downlink must be set up on the side of the ISP. Your ISP should priortize traffic. You can't control that.

  • Problems running Setup.app with e4200v2 and Mac network

I bought a router e4200v2 about a year, but somehow, it got lost in my computer room and I don't a not localize until quite recently, just after I bought a new iMac running Yosemite. The new iMacs don't have an optical drive, so I downloaded the Setup.app since the support site of Linksys without problem.

However, when I run the Setup.app, he starts a Setup Smart Wi - fi but stalls when it comes to about 25% of fact, with a message "could not find your router." I called Linksys, and even if this isn't their period of free support they gave me a free call since I'd just take the machine out of the box.

We couldn't get the Setup.app to work, so they talked me through a manual installation. I can now access the net of my Wired iMac or any of the various devices wireless around the House (telephone, laptop, etc.).

BUT it was only after I hung up I have realzed that the different functions available from the diddn t Smart Wifi configuration (for example, guest access) appear to be available.

I don't want to pay for a support call, but it's really irritating. The Setup.app still does not work, and I see no way to not get LLA.

Can anyone suggest a solution? Am I missing something simple?

    Thank you.

I do not recommend the use of the software to configure the router in your case.

On the contrary, to connect to the router and use the link below to access and configure.

  • Management E4200v2 remote problem

    Hi all

I have a little problem with remote management on my E4200v2.

I have him, select https and all on by default the allowed IP address value remote port (8080)

After all this, I can't connect my router to my office or any other place. I use DDNS and all its ok (updated time). I tried to connect to my direct IP (dynamic), but without result.

Any ideea? This is the only problem that I discovered this device.

P.S. no newspaper entering port 443 using https

    Thank you

Try changing the port 8081 instead of 8080. Otherwise, you could use http instead of https for remote management, where it does not work with https. Also to ensure that the anonymous internet application of the filter box should be disabled in the Security tab, on the router configuration page.

  • e4200v2 - problem connecting Epson Workforce 520

I'm a smart guy, and I can follow the signs (mostly).  Got the e4200v2 put in place successfully with a ton of devices, wired and wireless.  Everything works - except the printer (Epson Workforce 520).

The printer connects through WPS, but will never be printed.  Using Win7 Home Premium.

I lived that, in my view, are all FAQs, tutorials-Cisco, and Epson.  Is there something I'm missing here.

It may just be possible that this really nice, really smart router is unable to communicate with a wireless printer that is reasonably current, quite enjoyable.

The problem was not with the router, but with the owner of the printer network communications.  Was to create a custom for the printer, using the given IP address port.

The only thing to do is to create a DHCP reservation for this address.

    Quite.

  • Need help with the E4200v2 settings

I'm happy to say that my router is running again after getting my RMA. However I have noticed a strange behavior that is the same on the two E4200v2 than i; ve used. On the PC that is connected to the router via LAN, I noticed that whenver he awakens from his sleep that the network connection is listed as disconnected and it takes a minute or two for the PC Restore the connection with the router and internet access to resume. On wireless devices, including a PC connected via PCI-express card 801.11n, is not a problem and they restore their link immediately. Y at - it a network setting that I can change to fix? I don't think there is a problem with the PC's LAN port that my two desktops have exposed this problem when it is connected directly to the router directly.

It could be possible that your PC turns off (your NIC) nic mode "Eve". Turning can take a few minutes.
Try to check the properties of your network card in Device Manager and uncheck the "allow Windows to turn off this device to save power" and see if this helps =).

This does seem like a problem of router for me.

  • Keep the old SSID on E4200v2

I soon improve my network wireless for a WRT610N to an E4200v2. The configuration of the router, I guess I'll be able to change the SSID of the E4200v2 and I intend to keep the same SSID as on my old router. With the same SSID, such that he is seen by devices on my network, I will avoid having to change the settings of these devices? By spreading the old SSID on the new router, I hope not to have to tinker with these devices.

    Thank you.

If you keep the SSID and the same password, so you won't need to make any changes on devices.

  • E4200V2 Wireless Bridge Mode disconnects

I have an E4200V2 with the last installed firmware.36.

The E4200V2 is configured in Bridge Mode. DHCP from 4200 is an IP address for itself of my network infrastructure. It is a modem UBEE DOCSIS 3 (exit concert E) on a cable connection 100 meg feeding a router/firewall IP Cop Linux and go to a concert, entirely gig E on the network side. The wired network is absolutely bulletproof. And the older B AP only that worked well was also on this same configuration.

I have the nec N only on the side of the 5 GHz E4200V2, and I had it set on Auto for channel selection, but set a currently unused channel manually. The side 2.5 GHz is also manually defined a locally unused channel now and is set to mixed mode, as I I need to connect to B/G/N devices. The channel not used for two radios was total by searching for the activity of the PA using one of my Linux laptops.  I have the 5 GHz and 2.5 GHz radios set to the width of the channel 20/40. And I use the WPA2-Personal recommended for security on both, with a different SSID name for each radio.

For two radios E4200 V2 wireless disconnects on both pretty random but regular and has to reconnect. This happens on both radios. There is no interference, and no network feed problems it would cause. And the older B single Orinoco AP I replaced never had these problems. The signals are strong for all devices and drop-outs occur even when you test with a laptop several feet from the E4200V2. If I'm streaming a video on GoogleTV or music or playing a game online, the 4200 disconnects regularly and devices need to reconnect. This happens on both radios and to each device.

Disconnect it happen on a device GoogleTV, a Blackberry, many laptops with Windows XP, Windows 7, several Linux distributions and a Kindle keyboard.

I see recommendations change settings wireless advanced posted on this forum, and however the E4200V2 doesn't have these same advanced available settings to be changed.

I don't do anything with the E4200V2, but wireless. It is connected to via the port WAN on the E4200V2 and nothing else in the E4200V2 is used.

It must be a problem of firmware on the E4200. V2. I've seen other posts on this subject.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

I like the router, and the intensity of the signal is great about it. But I have to get this constant random disconnection problem solved.

    I'll mark this resolved.

I used the settings by default in the main wireless screen, that is automatic on the channel and auto on the selection of 20/40 MHz and define a different name for the 2.5 GHz radio and 5.

Then I and advanced the settings shown above.

I got on the 5 GHz radio streaming video throughout the day and evening on my Google TV and not a single hiccup. Music streaming on Sirius on a Blackberry for hours, without drops. And eddd some surf and download and play on the 2.5 GHz radio, with no dropouts at all.

That's how I expect the router to work out of the box...

As far as I can see, the changes in the parameters have on the WIFi connection on the side of rock solid now.

  • Mode bridge E4200v2 + guest access: No DHCP IP assigned?

New E4200v2 2.0.37.  In "Bridge Mode - DHCP" (i.e., Access Point router).  Guest access is enabled & SSID broadcast.  DHCP server is disabled, because my main Sonicwall router that provides related to major network 192.168.1.0.

PROBLEM = PC Client can see "-comments ' fine SSID and associate with her, BUT PC does NOT receive an address IP DHCP (i.e. 192.168.33.x) so the browser login page never appears and guest access does not work.

I'm sure it's related to DHCP.  I'm assuming that the E4200 not receives or sends the comments with the PC client DHCP packets.

I saw guest access works on the old E4200v1 before so I know what it should look like.

Can anyone suggest any probable cause why my E4200v2 would not be providing comments DHCP addresses in the 192.168.33.0 subnet?

I don't have that 24 hours until I have to deploy 2 new E4200v2 at a remote site and after that it will be really hard problems because I will not be on this site.

Thanks in advance for expert advice!

    I think I SOLVED!

Apparently, you need to ACTIVATE the two SERVER NAT & DHCP on the E4200, * before * you switch to BRIDGE MODE.

When I did this, access as guest - works great!  Hooray!

I guess the E4200 needs to use these 2 services that run in the background to give the subnet access as guest & dhcp work assignments, which is a process hidden, once you're in Bridge Mode.

Wow, Cisco should really have a section of the guide user or KB article about it.  Or at least when you click on Bridge-Mode a little pop-up asking you to ensure that these 2 pre - req for are enabled.

    I'm moving now.

  • Server FTP E4200v2 fails

New E4200v2 @ firmware 2.0.36.  The FTP server will go offline on once every 24 hours.  I can revive by clicking on save in the storage/Administration or FTP server.  I don't have to change anything, just click Save.  How can I keep the FTP running?

'Disc' is a 16 GB USB flash memory.  Document to FAT32, 1 partition, 6 Admin users and guest, 2 groups in addition to Admin and guest.

I don't know if this is relevant, but there is a new version of firmware.37 for the router.

By chance could you try that and let me know if the problem is still there?

  • E4200v2 what to do wireless G

I'm on Windows Vista 64-bit, on a laptop with an Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN wireless adapter. With my new E4200v2, I can connect only with the wireless-G (54 Mbps).

I tried most of the suggestions I've seen on this forum about security mode settings, channel mode and so on. Nothing makes a difference - I still not connect to G. If I put only on the E4200v2 network mode in the Wireless-N, the laptop refuses to connect at all.  This problem occurs on 5 GHz and 2.4 Ghz bands (even if on the 5 GHz range, I get only without wire-A/54 Mbit / s).

I made sure I have the latest drivers for my wireless network card. This same laptop connects wireless to my old (150 or 300 Mbps) wifi access point.

I checked the firmware for the E4200v2 and it shows: 2.0.26.124551. I see on this forum that version 2.0.36 is available since January, but no matter how many times I click on "Check for upgrades", it says I have the latest version. I couldn't find a download directly to attempt a manual upgrade.

To get speeds above 54 Mbps are required 2.

    (1) WMM must be enabled.

    (2) you must use the WPA2 AES security.
