Editing a file in FCP 7 QT

I just pulled a few pieces of test on a 200 GYHM of JVC. sequences have been captured as files QT at 1920 x 1080, 50 p. Previously I was editing all my images as def. NTSC standard (just moved the United States to the United Kingdom where the change)

Specimens can import into FCP 7 OK, but stutter badly when I try to play them. I'm sure that it is a matter of settings in FCP 7, but there are so many options, I can't determine which setting I use. Can someone please advise - thanks

I use a very old book (2008) mac pro in Yosemite 10.10.4 with 4 GB of RAM. Maybe I'm just asking too much the boy. I'm doing a new Imac, but I understand if it's settings or hardware problem.

QuickTime is a file type... must know what specific codec is this media.  QuickTime can be ProRes, DVCPRO HD, DNxHD... and H.264, Sorenson, Animation... etc. Say "QT file" is like saying "I can."  A bit of what?  FCP works simply with any Quicktime format... There must be a codec specific editing in order to make it work. ProRes is the best option, but the JVC you lance... and HDV makes you capture it as HDV?

Now... stuttery.  1080p50... and let's say just ProRes for example. It is a high data rate.  Which hard drive these images are stored on? And how is it connected? USB2, for example... won't be able to play this back smoothly.  In view of the machine that you list, only FW800 will play this back, and a RAIDED (two disks or more) would be better.

4 GB of RAM, is also AVERAGE at little things. That's what FCP should work... but the operating system must also RAM. If you need more information. 8 GB would be minimum of the skeleton... 12 - 16 GB would be better.
