Editing in LR3 PSE8

Hello

I installed on my macbook pro to LR3 and have recently installed PSE8 to use as an external editor. I am outgoing LR3 PSE8 fine but when I did the editing on a photo I am nor sure how to return to LR3 with the edited photo. At the time where I got out of PSE8 and return to LR3 I see the unedited Photo version? Is there a step I'm missing?

Concerning

Pierce

Hi Pierce

I guess PSE8 is recognized as an external editor. Check by clicking Edit > preferences and then hit the external publishing tab.

Select a photo in the library that you want to change in PSE8 and pres Ctrl + E

Check edit copy with Lightroom adjustments and select Tiff or PSD

Make your changes in PSE8 and press Ctr + S to save and click OK to replace the file created by Lightroom.

Click Ctrl + W to close the image in PSE8 and then return to Lightroom.

  • Automatic stacking in LR3

If I remember correctly, in LR2, when you changed a raw file in Photoshop, it would automatically retain the same labeled State and be stacked with the original file in LR when it was saved. I found this function is very useful.

This isn't what I feel in LR3, however. I looked for a way allow this, but without success.

    Any thoughts?

    Thank you!

The bug is accepted by Adobe and can be bypassed by the backup of the metadata in the file before entering the external editing. LR3 will use external xmp data labels/ratings if it is present, even if not a day!

  • Merge to a Panorama workflow?

    Hello

When using the command "Merge to Panorama in Photoshop", a 16 bit TIFF file is created and brought back into LR.  Is it better to make corrections of image for all RAW BEFORE using this command? If not, is there as much latitude with a 16 bit TIFF file given with a RAW corrections to image file?

    What you people are doing?

    Thanks in advance.

Evening or Kelby (editions my LR3, LR2 editions are also) talking about masking regarding recovery and extra light.  They suggest that it is an algorithmic swizzle on the conversion of raw in pixels. If this is the case, I suspect that they would work OK if you were preprocessing before a panorama and made sure the values of light and the recovery of filling were used systematically in all segments of the panorama.

Yes it is not true. The Shadow, recovery filler and clarity are performed using automatically generated masks. In principle, you do not want to apply them before the merger of the panoramas that you could get lighting issues in areas which, in a single stroke, can be in a large shadow box and in the next shot might be just an area more small which is little affected by the filling of shadow cursor. This probably isn't a big problem when you apply only small amounts of these adjustments to HDR-like local contrast, but when you give large amounts, you'll want to do after the merger of panorama. How to make is to develop all the images of very flat sources using only the standard sliders (i.e. no filling of the shadow, recovery or clarity), ensuring that you cut not highlights and Blacks more than you need (in general, you are shooting for no clipping) and keep low contrast. Make sure you all settings apply to all images. Then merge to panorama and bring back the results in Lightroom, and then do all the settings, including the shadow fills, recovery, clarity etc.

PS It is better not to use PS for panoramas in my opinion. It is very rigid and fails to them quite bad if you have something else than the simplest of the image sets.

I will actually go further.  I received a call to mind that one in three different parts of the image.  It will be pulled through the door in a garage for two cars (one on left, middle and right) and I maybe need HDR to get outside and inside at the same time be OK...  The camera moves between three configurations.  I'm HDR every individuall configuration, then trim HDRed configurations, but I'll split the image into three parts and use the panorama software to paste.  On the other hand, I have enough strobes slaveable that I can simply blow a lot of light in the garage door (Mount of perhaps a couple of strobes above the garage door in coil at the back of the light) and not having to do HDR.

I did this sort of thing several times in landscapes. The best results are achieved by seams similar exhibitions first separated and then panoramas by combining those. My favorite panorama software hugin does really well you can just dump all the images in there, line them up and do spit assembled layers separated from the exhibition that you can have it combine for you using the built-in enfuse (great free software for HDR look natural). You can also put the exhibition Assembly separated in the form of layers in Photoshop and combine it with the help of masks or the built in HDR function or import HDR software such as panomatix.

That said, I think that you will get the best results if you turn on correctly this scene especially yourself. Strobe lights are usually the way to go if you have.

  • Edit in Photoshop CS5 grey out LR4 and LR3

Because one of the upgrade of many LR3, I was not able to edit in photoshop, it is grayed out.  I thought that upgrading to LR$ would deal with this, but it didn't. I tried the upgrade to 6.7 beta, but this is not enough. Contribute CS5 to remove and reinstall?  Very frustrating.

  • LR3.6 - can I save info to a raw photo editing so I can show it to someone on another computer?

LR3.6 - can I save info to a raw photo editing so I can show it to someone on another computer? For example, I'm editing the photos and want to show someone on another computer by copying pictures on a USB key and by bringing the reader to the other person's computer. They would then be able to open my photos in LR and see the changes that I made.  Is this possible and if so, how?

If two people have the same version of LR (i.e., both have LR3), and then select the photos you want, then the file-> export as catalog, be sure to check "Are negative" and point LR into your flash drive. Move these files to the other computer, and in LR, file-> import from catalog.

  • LR3 - edit in Photoshop problem

I'm pretty new to Lightroom, so I checked the previous messages and reading the manuals, but I can't find an answer to my problem.

I have LR3 and CS5 using the Prophoto color profile on a Windows 7 system. I always shoot RAW (NEF) and use generally two LR3 and CS5 to process an image.

The question I have is after the image processing in LR3, I use Photo/edit in Photoshop, then, for the image to open it in CS5, make a couple of other methods (crop & clone tool) and then 'save' (not ' Save as '). When I discovered the image of 'Change' in LR3 initial settings have changed considerably. The image is also slightly darker. I've also experimented in the accomplishment of any process in CS5 by going directly to 'save', but the same problems prevail.

Is an example of the difference in parameters:

    LR3 parameters; Tint + 10, exhibition - 0.24, recovery 46 filling L 3, Black 7.

    Edit version shows; Hue + 1, exhibition - 0.41, exit 23, filling L 0, black 5.

Can someone give me please an answer as to why the edit back version settings are not the same as those indicated in the first transformed RAW version which also leads to a darker picture?

  • Batch edits possible in LR3?

In ACR I can batch of similar files together but LR3 I don't see where I can choose several files and their batch together for editing.  Is there a way to do this?

While in develop, select all the images you want to apply the chosen one becomes, apply changes to one of these images, then select synchronization... a dialog will appear from which you can select what changes to apply.

  • PSE8 - "date taken" set a fixed value for each edited image

I've been monkeying with PSE8 for 6 months or more - not using the Organizer, but straight in the edition.

In general, I'll create a template to a certain size (e.g., 1800 x 1200 pixels for printing 6 x 4 photos) and place an image on the template.

After editing, I'll save the file under a new name in a new folder... and have noted recently that the "Date" property changed to exactly the same value for each image editing. 25/09/2010... Maybe it was the date of installation, I am not sure.

In any case - it of annoying and has been touching to find help (which makes sense) online.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Possibly the date the template was created? PSE respects the camera EXIF data and always displays the date taken, but for digital images and new documents created in the program, it will use the file date.

  • LR3 DNG edit in Photoshop does not open in Camera Raw

I have LR 3.2 64 bit and v12.0.1 CS5 and Camera Raw 6.2 on Windows 7 64bits. I do 95% of my editing in Lightroom. Sometimes I choose 'Edit in Photshop' and in the past a DNG or CR2 image open in Camera Raw (at least I think that's the case). Recently however, I have noticed that if I have a DNG or a CR2 file, right click and select 'open in Photoshop... '. ' open the file directly in Photoshop, not in Camera Raw. I tried to delete my LR3 preference, clear my preferences of CS5 and deleting both, but the behavior does not change. Does anyone have an idea to explain this?

    Thank you

    Alan.

There is nothing wrong with the behavior you are because the image is not supposed to Open in Camera Raw, nor should he.

  • PSE8.0 CR2 files in organizer but downloads won't allow editing any.

    http://forums.Adobe.com/message/3132576

Receive messages from 'error' CR2 of Canon 1DMKIV, files are not valid and "PSE8.0 Editor" won't open files in the Organizer.

Open the zip file you just downloaded, and then click on extract files.

You should see a 64-bit file and a file of plug-in below. The plug in has a file name: Camera Raw.8bi

Now do drag the plug-in file (or copy) in the File Formats of files in the following location:

    C:\Program Files\Fichiers Adobe Plug-Ins\Elements 8\File Formats\

If you use a 64-bit Windows edition, then move the plugin file in the unzipped download file by accessing:

    C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Adobe\Plug - Ins\Elements 8\File Formats\

  • How to merge or upgrade the PSE8 catalog in the master catalog in LR3?

I did some research but has not been able to find a good match for the question that I am trying to solve.

I recently installed LR3 after using LR3 beta and also using PSE8 as my main library. After installing LR3, I used the "upgrade Photoshop elements catalog... "to create a catalog of LR3 pictures that were in PSE8 catalog. Making LR8 created a catalog separated (Lightroom catalog - 2.lrcat) for these photos. However, I would like that all photos in a catalog in LR8 (preferably in the master catalog LR8: Lightroom Catalog.lrcat). Is there a way to merge either these 2 catalogs, or is there a better way to add photos PSE8 in the master catalog in LR3? Thank you.

There is a known bug in the import of the catalog when you have folders that overlap in the two catalogues involved. Try not to select folders that are already part of your catalog and see if that helps.

If it helps, you could - prior to importation - temporarily move the photos of the files assigned to another place in the Lightroom 3 - 2.lrcat catalog and your choice after importation.

  • Editing screen RAW missing in PSE8 trial

Can someone help me with this one?

I've used PSE6. When you open a RAW image I crossed first a RAW Editor screen before editting in PSE6. When
I open a RAW image in the ASSESSMENT of PSE8 version he takes me directly to the editor of PES, Miss at the FIRST stage. My camera is an Olympus E510, about 2 years.

HELP files clearly see the operation of changing RAW so I don't know the feature is in PSE8. It seems that the RAW editing screen opens automatically and I don't see what else to do. In desperation I turned on the FORMATS of FILES Plug In to see if it would help - it didn't. I need to know there is an editor of RAW I can use before purchasing the software.

Adobe told me that they do not support the trail version and therefore will not respond to my question... Not exactly a recommendation of good customer service if their pre sales support sucks!  Their official response to this question was that they did not support PSE6 more and I should switch to PSE8 their last suggestion is to ask this group.

If anyone has PSE8 and is willing to try a. File of the ORF for me, I would be very grateful.  Thanks, Keith

What is your current screen resolution?  PSE 8 has some limitations on short screens:

  • PSE8 on Mac.  Why EDIT, CREATE and SHARE instructions disappeared?

I recently installed PSE8 for Mac.  I know there are supposed to represent the instructions that appear in the grey Panel in each of her EDIT, CREATE and SHARE tabs when you click on one of these tabs, but the Panel is just empty.  I'm sure that the statements used to appear there, so I don't know what I did.  I am a new user of Photoshop, so I probably changed something by mistake.  I've recreated the Photoshop Elements preferences file, but it does not solve the problem.  Does anyone have any tips for what I could try to reappear the instructions?  Thank you very much.

I don't really know how this is possible, but I would like to uninstall using the uninstall program (this is the application folder in Applications) and then reinstall. Make sure that you run from an admin account and if you have any kind of antivirus software, disable the installation. It would be a good idea to disable the PSE (help > deactivate) before uninstalling.

  • LR3: Batch edit IPTC title metadata

    Hello

I rename my files to import to satisfy certain requirements. But once I got my photos store in a collection (say my shot I want to keep and promote), I would like to have the name of the IPTC title with a more descriptive name, such as "Model name xxx" where xxx is a sequence. I don't want to change the name of the file, just the IPTC metadata.

Is it possible to do in Lightroom 3?

It seems very simple, but I can't find anywhere...

    Thank you

Here is the link that is on the page for editing metadata. Joking with her a little, it's not too complicted.
