Editing on an existing Web site

Hi all

I have published new Web sites directly from Muse, but what I am wanting to know is if there is anything I should do to replace an existing Web site that has not been created in Muse with one that was established in Muse.

If I publish directly from Muse, it replaces the old site?

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Hello

If you have downloaded from the site on a third-party host then Muse will export the files to the root folder you provided. If the current site has a file that has the same name as the NCBs of the file created by muse then it will overwrite it.

If you want to completely get rid of the old site then I would advice you disable your folder root using your hosting provider and then download your Muse site to your FTP host.

Adobe help Muse | Download a Site from Muse Adobe on a third-party hosting service

If you have published the site using the "Publish to Business Catalyst" function then you need not to worry on the old site and you just point your domain name to the catalyst for business servers.

Add a domain name to your site by using an external DNS service

Feel free to answer in case you have another doubt.

Vivek

    Hello

You must define a site in Dreamweaver and need to set up your FTP server. One for that, you can connect with the FTP server where your FrontPage is loaded and you can get the copy of the said locally.

  • make changes to the existing Web site

my org is an existing Web site, the Director made using Muse. I need to make minor changes to the content (not really a page layout). I have the files on my computer (pc) in html, that Muse seems to open. I have the password, find out about hosting and ftp, etc how to download files from the remote host to make changes with Muse and then publish?

Unfortunately, you cannot change the HTML in Muse. You will need the original file of Muse. You can edit the files in Dreamweaver or another text/web editor if you the code.

  • I need help in opening an existing Web site

I try to open an existing Web site and change it.  When I click on get I see a folder and when I open it to any advice I receive is the graphics.

Sorry, no, I'm not an Adobe employee, (there is really not much here) I am just a user of software like you.

    Look at your site settings...

    1. go to Site > Manage Sites, and then click the site that you are trying to work with

    2. click on edit

    3. under servers, click the remote server

    4. click on change

    5. under Basic, you must have your FTP address (usually yoursitename.com for GoDaddy, it can sometimes be an IP address with other hosting companies), your username and password, then the root directory

    6. under the root directory, make sure that you have one of the two /public_html/ or httpdocs / (call GoDaddy to check the type of server that you are using so that you get the right root)

    7. test the connection

    8. If it works, when you connect using the window files expanded (with the server on the files and from left to right) you should see a list of files, including your index.html, some GD files formmailer.php and missing.html page and all the rest of your current site files.

    9. If you see this list, click on Get and DW should prompt you with "Get entire site?

    10. click on Yes and the entire site will be downloaded to your machine. From there, open the file locally, edit and download

  • Getting started with Dreamweaver on existing web sites and several developers

The company that I work has two existing web sites; an one site of 'brand', which is the most often text and graphic content, the other an ecommerce with a lot of .NET components site. We have three people working on the sites now, two on the content, code, and a couple of outside contractors. (I'm the coder). Two guys contained both use Dreamweaver, but mostly just for editing HTML on the live sites. As we moved into a situation of development more demanding and added more than players in the game this approach seems undesirable.

Can someone point me to a resource that deals with existing websites in Dreamweaver and using Dreamweaver features to help manage a multi-developer project, on several sites?

I have a chapter in the Bible of CS4 Dreamweaver called Web sites with a team that covers a lot of what you are looking for including the standard Check-In / Check-Out, Design Notes, reports, help, Visual SourceSafe and Subversion.

I reinstalled Dreamweaver and realized that I had lost the connection to my existing Web site.  Would appreciate any help on how to find the necessary information to reconnect.

You need to get your hosting provider. There is no other way unless you saved the definition of Site somewhere on your computer.

  • How to set the mobile site to an already existing Web site?

It is the first time that I'm building a mobile site of the query.  There will be a mobile version of an already existing Web site.  I have no problem with the coding, but I was wondering how do I set the site.  I have to create a new or keep it in the same local root folder? And once done, it will automatically resume on mobile devices or there at - it a code I need to add to my Web site to allow the mobile version override her? Thank you.

If you want to use the URL m.domainname.com, then it is best to place the index file in this folder, which is the root/m in order to run by default. Other files/assets are related, that's why it doesn't matter where they are as long as the link is correct.

By the way, m.domainname.com is the same as domainname.com/m

    Yes you can!

Create the site and download via ftp, add the domain name and specific to the location of the site to download path. If you want to download to the root, you can fill in the directory or if you want to download the site in sub folder and then enter the path of the folder.

  • Adobe muse 2015 crashing into the existing Web site when you export to HTML

I n ' know what to do!  I've deleted and reinstalled muse 2015 - I can't export my Web site to make changes for a customer.  I'm dead.  I have a screenshot of the error I get ends with 'try to put shaped a XHTMLElement with content and children.'   This site has existed and been exported a lot of time... but since the upgrade in 2015, I did. This is the first time.

In most cases, you can avoid this mistake if you disable enable editing in the browser of the Site Properties.

It will be a 2015.0.1 release soon at this address.

You can use the 2015.0.1 Beta If you join the program of Muse Adobe beta at http://museprerelease.com. It is open to all customers who accept the terms of the non-disclosure agreement.

  • Download of existing Web site from the remote server to Dreamweaver CC 2015

I need to download a website, designed originally in 2002 using MS FrontPage and more recently managed using MS Expression Studio 4 Web Professional, from my server to my computer using hosting service newly installed Dreamweaver CC 2015.

I've never used Dreamweaver before, and information online using Dreamweaver is apparently to date with the latest version of Dreamweaver.  So far, everything I've tried has failed for one reason or another.  To be precise, because of a problem computer I lost the local version of my Web site that has been stored on my computer.  Later, I created an empty folder on my computer and tried to connect with the remote service hosting server so that I can download my Web site, but nothing works.  I get error messages in one way or another, right from the beginning and nothing on my computer screen is in agreement with the steps indicated, "using Dreamweaver / connect to a remote server" instructions that I downloaded on the Web.

I need detailed instructions, step by step, how to connect to the server and upload my site on my computer.  The instructions must be compatible with what is actually happening using Dreamweaver CC 2015.  I'm new to Dreamweaver and have no experience with it.  And Microsoft no longer supports Expression Studio, it is virtually impossible for me to reinstall it on my computer.

Connect to your remote server by adding in your FTP credentials during the process of site definition (user name, password, root folder and to the address of the server). You get this info from your host and save it in your site settings in the Site > Manage Sites > click the site > Edit > servers (hit the + to create a new server if you have not already).

To connect to your server once the info has been added to the Site definition, open the files window (window > files, or F8 if it is not open), and then click the Connect button (icon). You can then hit the expand button (icon of two places) to see a representation next to your files the and remote. Click the Get button (down arrow) to download all files available the folder root of your site on your local computer.

As I mentioned earlier, you have still questions whether FrontPage extensions have been used on the site. Who are the property of FrontPage and is not something that you can work with out of Dreamweaver. So, if you have determined that a redesign is out of the question, or not, may be irrelevant. You may have to, or find an old copy of FrontPage somewhere, in order to continue to work with your site in the way you could before.
