Editing the Original text

Hello

Am new to InDesign and fairing pretty well, but has some problems.

How is editing the text fixed in InDesign? (Fixed text I mean original content that was already on the documented when you opened it).

How do you change the size of the font of the text in a fixed or original document?

Thanks in advance

If you open a new document, there is no text in the document.

Looks like you can open a template in InDesign set up by someone else. They may have put text on a 'master' page that creates a common initial provision for certain types of pages. You can view these pages at the top of the Pages panel.

If you want to change the text, you must 'ignore' the captain (who will be locked on the page of your document) in one of two ways: If you only enter text in the text frame, hold down Ctrl + Shift (Windows) or command + shift (Mac) and click on the image to open it. If you want to unlock multiple images on a single page, you can choose to replace all elements of Master Pages and they will be unlocked.

    After customization of search in the QueryFilterBean text, how always display the original text entered by the user if the results of the table appear.

    It is in the ADF 12.1.3 version. Is this possible?

    You introduce new variables to filter for the entrance of users as is described in this blog https://tompeez.wordpress.com/2015/04/11/how-to-filter-adf-bound-tables-by-date-range-jdeveloper-12-1-x/

    Then read the values of variables in the onQueryListener in your bean method that you introduced in the filter and apply both in terms of filter criteria.

  • RegExp search and replace, keep the formatting of the original text

    Hello!

    Will have to perform the Search and replace within a framework of text using RegExp.

    And to retain the original formatting of the text block.

    How is it possible?

    Bad example-, it converts all the text formatting to the format of the first character:

    var reg = /a/gmi;
    var replacer = '*';
    var fr = activeDocument.textFrames[0];
    fr.contents = fr.contents.replace (reg , replacer);

    find_and_replace_regexp.jpg

    Thank you!

    I has not yet been tested your code.

    But why you did not play with my code snippet, use something like this:

    // regex_changeContentsOfWordOrString_RemainFormatting.jsx
    // regards pixxxel schubser
    var s = /arguments/gi;
    var replacer = "other string", result;
    var atf = activeDocument.textFrames[0];

    while (result = s.exec(atf.contents)) {
        try {
            aCon = atf.characters[result.index];
            aCon.length = result[0].length;
            aCon.contents = replacer;
            } catch (e) {};
        }

  • Identify the original text gradient color

    Hello everyone.

    I need to know how to remove a gradient of text so that it becomes a solid color. I don't know the original color and I have a deficiency of the color, so I need to go through the numbers or names.

    In any case, is it possible to simply remove the gradient of the text to make it solid, but the same "base" color

    THX.

    Paul

    If you open the gradient and the panels color chart you can click on the individual in the gradient stops, and if they were created from color chart that should underline the right shade, if you see not a shade highlighted, you can get the formula of color for the decision from the Panel of color instead.

    But this does not guarantee that gradient points have something to do with the solid color, you want to apply to your type. You can use colors that you like in a gradient and any solid color, you like for the text. Remember that if you use something other than 100% k or a spot color for the type you run the risk that it will be blurred, especially in small sizes and especially if the color is pretty clear. Process colors are mixtures of points and will not have the same crisp contours as type made 100% of a single color.

  • Edit the Caption Text properties

    Hello

    If you have multiple areas of text on a slide caption is it possible to change the properties of all the text captions at the same time?

    Hello

    It is one of the new features in CP5, but that does not help you at the moment.

    Some properties can be changed for a selection of Legends: size of the legend, using the menu line up, you need to resize the same size (and works well). The first object selected (with the white handles) will be the 'model' to resize.

    If you want to change the fonts or their attributes, it's a little more complicated. You can try to apply changed property on all the legends of the slide, but it still does not work completely. Just tried to 4 legends on a slide: police and the size has been changed for all, but not the color. It is interesting to try it though.

  • How do I edit the original file in photoshop the muse?

    On my mac, it always opens the jpg preview. Guess I could always open previously the jpg and save it as a psd... it is a workaround that requires more time however. In this case I might just open it in ps and work on it, then update to muse.

    To the present Muse relies on the operating system to decide which application opens for a given file format. So a .jpg file to be opened in Photoshop, you will need to change the file association in the Finder. Click a .jpg file, select File: Get Info and choose Photoshop in the section 'Open with' and hit everything change. Note that this has the disadvantage that double click on a jpg file in the FInder now open it in Photoshop, which may not be what you want always.

    Having specific features 'change using Photoshop... '. «and «Change using Fireworks...» "is something that we would like to add, but have not yet obtained.

  • Editing the text in the pdf

    Am, change the text in a full color book large pdf file of 296 pages.  Each page has a mix of text and images-I can edit text on each page, but on some pages that the text edit tool won't let me select the text I want to change - as if it isn't there and is considered to be an image, despite the fact that is a separate text box - can not understand why I can easily edit text which is next , but not the text of a few centimetres more far overall. Am baffled by this.  Attached jpg to show WORLD SWORDS PRACTICE FILE 180.jpg layout of the book.

    It the tool select text does not work, then it is not text. You really do want to be change the text in a pdf file if it can be avoided at all. It's just a problem ticking. It's ALWAYS better to edit the original document and then regenerate the file. If there are customizations with the buttons and fields that you do not regenerate, so you can replace the old page of the PDF with the new page as a new pdf and avoid all the problems that come with editing text.

  • Editing the Messages in the project file changes the original date of the email to the current-how date can I change this back?

    I often need to change the subject line in the emails received or sent previously. I do this by editing the drafts folder and then moving them to the storage in another folder. When I edit the original message the original message is replaced by the current date in e-mail header. This means that the message is now 'Out of Place' when I search on the Date. Screenshot attached.

    You might find it easier and have fewer side effects, if you change the object with one of these modules:

  • When you reply to a message the sender's original text is abbreviated. How to restore the text of the original message? 24.5.0 using.

    This summary is only a small part of the original message. I would like to respond by inserting comments after the original text. With this brief presentation, I can't do that.

    Thank you.

    Here go us. The problem is how the sender responded to a message and sent to you. It inserted the response above the quoted text and a sig delimiter ' - '.

    When you reply to the message you have received, TB treated all underneath the sig as signature delimiter and it cuts. This is the expected behavior.

    http://email.about.com/od/emailsignaturenetiquette/Qt/Use_the_Standard_Email_Signature_Delimiter.htm

    So ideally the answer must be inserted as quoted text. Since it's out of your control, use "Forward" instead of "Reply" to circumvent the problem.
    You will then need to manually add recipients in the field "to".

  • Check spelling Thunderbird displays in the form of words of errors that are not in the draft text mail.

    I'm running Thunderbird 24.5.0 on a system Windows 8.1 (both newly installed). According to Windows / Microsoft Update updates only in circulation are both updates optional (for Silverlight and Bing Office, nor who have or want to).

    Today I prepared a letter of project, that has been saved in the subfolder 'Project' of 'local folders '. After further review and editing, I pressed the "Send" button to send the e-mail message. As expected, the window "Check spelling" popped up and said problems with a few words, who were treated by variously by adding them to the dictionary, fix or ignore the. When it reaches the end of the text, however, the spelling continued to draw words hat, presenting more than thirty extra "mistakes".

    If this is of any help, these words seem to be 'technical' nature, which suggests that the spelling might have gotten in the part of the document or the system where it shouldn't be. Include "charset", "mso" (multiple instances), 'msoNormal', 'msoChpDefault', 'WordSection', 'qformat', 'ANSI' and 'bidi '.

    I might add that at the beginning of my Thunderbird request and in particular the structure and the content of the 'Local folders' hierarchy, have been determined by the content of a profile file created on my old Windows XP system via an import in Outlook Express, which was in turn copied everywhere in my new machine. The project email which is the subject of this question was however prepared entirely on the new system.

    Thanks for your input, Matt.

    I entered all the text in the first box above. It was intended to provide an accurate description, with specific examples, the problem I had.

    However, further investigation, stated that the problem only occurred when the original text was seized by an account. As a result, I just found out the signature html for this account file was damaged and contained a lot of invisible extra hardware, which the text identified by the spell check.

    Recreate a clean version of the signature for the account file solved the problem.

  • Replace the string with the formatted text

    Hello all - I'm back to my beloved project...

    I want to replace a string by a TextSelction (formatted text) and began with the famous feature of Jang FindAndReplaceString.
    Since my replacement comes from another document (sourceDoc), I edited to targetDoc activeDoc and introduced a second document (sourceDoc).
    The replacePara actually comes from a stone where he had been placed to avoid switch backwards between the documents in a book (where to find and replace) and source documents. In another function, I learned that information on the table requires the sourceDoc must remain open.

    • Of course, everything works fine until I want to insert the replacelement:
      erase line 26 is the string
    • Given that I do not insert a string, I skip lines 28 and 29 and try try line 30
    • On line 30 DocumentSource is Document object and replacePare object TextSelection. However, sourceDoc.replacePara is not set and
    • (as a result?) line 31 past the current contents of the Clipboard.

    Of course, there is a fog around me... and I need some sunshine.

    function FindAndReplacePara (targetDoc, findString, sourceDoc, replacePara, loopMax) {
      var tr = new TextRange();
      var restoreTR, frame = 0, loopCounter = 0, replacementCounter = 0;
      var findParams = new PropVals();
      var firstPgf = targetDoc.MainFlowInDoc.FirstTextFrameInFlow.FirstPgf;

      tr.beg.obj = tr.end.obj = firstPgf;             //  set up the starting text range as the very beginning
      tr.beg.offset = tr.end.offset = 0;              // of the flow. We'll move straight from beginning to end.
      trSaved = tr                                    // to come back after work

      findParams[1].propVal.valType = Constants.FT_Integer;
      findParams[1].propVal.ival = Constants.FF_FIND_CONSIDER_CASE;

      FA_errno = Constants.FE_Success;                // errno global, to be used to track the progress of the find and replace
      tr = targetDoc.Find(tr.beg, findParams);        // and do an initial find to get started.

      while(FA_errno === Constants.FE_Success && loopCounter++ < 2*loopMax) { //find and replace loop as long as we keep finding
        targetDoc.TextSelection = tr;                 // set up the text range to clear the original text
        targetDoc.Clear(0);                           // clear it

    //    targetDoc.AddText(tr.beg, replacePara);       // insert the new text at the original beginning of the text range
    //    tr.beg.offset += replacePara.length;          //  lets jimmy the text range in memory to place it directly after
        targetDoc.TextSelection = sourceDoc.replacePara;        // paste the whole replacement paragraph
        targetDoc.Paste (0);                          // <-- Current contents of clipboard is pasted !!!!
        if(FA_errno === Constants.FE_Success) {       // increment our return counter
          replacementCounter++;
        }
        FA_errno = Constants.FE_Success;              // ...  find the next instance. We'll reset FA_errno again just in case
        tr = targetDoc.Find(tr.beg, findParams);      // something screwy happened while we were replacing text.
      }
      targetDoc.ScrollToText(trSaved);                // we're done. Restore the document to it's original area of display
      return replacementCounter;
    } // --- end FindAndReplacePara

    Hi Klaus,

    Thanks for the explanation. I remember something like that GetTabRange of the way back. You have been quite patient and persistent with this project, indeed.

    So, as we are dealing with ranges of text here, I think that the only simple approach is to perform a copy and paste. There is no way to save a 'formatted' in a variable. The only super precise way would be to get a data structure of each text range TextItems in the sourceDoc, then meticulously recreate every element of the targetDoc. It would be very complicated, I think, so copy and paste seems the most logical. I wonder, though, if Miss me something, because I think that maybe you would have tried already so yes (?)

    In any case, I would do something like that, from line 30 of your original code sample (code untested here):

    App. ActiveDoc = sourceDoc;

    sourceDoc.TextSelection = replacePara;

    sourceDoc.Copy (0);

    App. ActiveDoc = targetDoc;

    targetDoc.Paste (0);

    ... etc.

    Does make sense, or am I barking the wrong tree, as they say?
