Editting a file txt game

I have a problem I can't solve, and I'm sure it's a simple enough solution.

I want to edit text in a game program files, but when I try to do this and save the modified file, I get an error Notepad:

Cannot create the C:\ProgramFiles\Sony\Everquest\maps\discord_2.txt file.

So, I then try to work around that by recording as a file C:\ProgramFiles\Sony\Everquest\maps\discord_3.txt but then I get an error message "save under" as follows:

C:\ProgramFiles\Sony\Everquest\maps\discord_3.txt that you do not have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator for approval. You want to save in the documents folder instead?

Well, saving them in the Documents folder would do me any good because then the program wouldn't read my additional text.

I've never had a problem when downloading of the txt files on websites like Mapfiend.com that then replace the text file, so why I cannot simply edit a text file?

I thought I was the administrator of my PC, but clearly not. So I rebooted and hit F8 tried staring at me as administrator but was unable to do. I just got my login: "Martin" as the only choice, no option to change the administrator user.  What I've done wrong? Or better yet, what should I do to recover as an administrator?

I hope hear from you soon. Thank you.

Hi Mlewk,

Thanks for posting on the forum of answers.microsoft.com communities.

It is interesting that you have to edit the documents as suggested.  When referring to the configuration yourself as an administrator, here is a link that will show you how to create or add user rights.

This is the definition that your account is actually an administrator.

Another suggestion must also run Notepad as administrator before opening the application and import the text file to make the changes.

Here's how;  1. click on start ORB / in line search type Notepad / in a list of programs - RIGHT CLICK on Notepad and select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR

Import your text file, you change, make the changes and then save the location you had suggested.

Let us know how it works for you or if you need further assistance.

Kind regards

Uh, I think that the echo command could be useful. You might want to consider the issue, followed by ending the line with > C:\Path\To\File.txt
Adding that will echo in a file. You will have to consider the question, because I do not remember if this adds the output to the text file or overwrites the contents of the file.

I don't know anything about Macintosh or its files, but if it isn't
a standard .txt file, simply read it in Word, and then do a backup with regard
Save it as a .doc or .docx file.

Our clients have trouble downloading a text file (.txt) on our site version 33.0 (using a filestream). It worked well in previous versions.

The error message they get reads as follows:
{name of file and download user path} not can be saved, because the source file could not be read.

    Thank you

It is an old relative to corrupted downloads (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Source_file_could_not_be_read) error message, but has become more widespread in Firefox 33.

To make a long story short... before, if the server sent a response which was smaller than the specified size, the gap has been ignored and the download was considered to be very good. From Firefox 33, a file that is smaller than the specified size is considered as being damaged.

I have edited html files in Internet Explorer with Notepad, but am unable to see how to do in firefox. I've looked under all the menu choices, including tools and options but had no luck. I googled the same question and got some clear answers. Thank you

  • Edit system files

    Hello

I need to edit system files, for example in/System/Library/LaunchDaemons /, but it seems that I'm not allowed to. I tried using sudo and I also tried to activate the root account, but even as superuser, I get "ftp.plist" E212 error: could not open the file for writing. (Using vim in this case ftp.plist is just an example, it is the same for all files).

Editing a file in a different location is no problem, but I can not always copy the file to LaunchDaemons so it does not help.

I'm not even allowed to chmod files or the LaunchDaemons directory as superuser:

Root # chmod 777 LaunchDaemons library

chmod: cannot change the file on the LaunchDaemons mode: operation not permitted

Just to make sure I'm really run as root:

The ID of the root library #.

    groups of gid = 0 (wheel) of uid = 0 (root) =...

LS - n shows that the owner of LaunchDaemons and all files that it is root (0), so I find it really strange.

The archives here I find several discussions where people are modifying these files, so I have to do something fundamentally wrong...

Is there any recent changes in El Capitan, which prevents the modification of these files?

Protection of the integrity of the system in El Capitan intentionally prevents anyone to play with the system files or applications installed by OS X. The goal is to prevent the horses of Trojans or other malware to install anything that could be anchored in the system (files kext or any modification of operating system files or installed applications).

You use Terminal while cranking on the recovery partition to stop. Make your changes, and then turn on again.

  • Age of Empires 3 does not start on a vista machine, get this error "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires III\d3dx9_25.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error."

I'm trying to play age of Empires 3 on my computer running windows vista Home premium and the program does not start. I get the error message: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires III\d3dx9_25.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error." I tried many suggestions from Microsoft (resettlement program, reinstall in safe mode, update & reinstall the drivers for my video card, the compatibility issues with vista, updating and reinstalling directx 9.0 c, install vista service packs 1 & 2) but nothing has worked so far. I was able to play the game on the same computer with windows xp installed (it's a different hard drive that is not in the computer, and everything is the same) and it worked fine. My computer is old enough, but like I said the game worked before installing vista. ASUS A7N8x deluxe, AMD Athlon xp 3200 +, ATI radeon 9600, 2 GB OCZ ram that all suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

    Hi Raygun55,

Welcome to Microsoft Vista answers Forum!

This problem may occur if the Microsoft DirectX file that is mentioned in the error message is damaged or is not copied correctly.

I suggest that you copy the file manually by following the steps and check if you are able to play the game without any problems:

    Manually copy the file

To do this on a computer that is running Windows Vista, follow these steps:

1 insert the disc 1 CD for one of the following games into the player from the computer:

    o Age of Empires III

    o Fable: The Lost Chapters

    o Zoo Tycoon 2

o Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends

    2. click on start to reduce this includes this image and then click Documents.

    3. Locate, and then click computer.

    4. search and then click on the CD drive.

    5. Locate and then click the following folder:

    CD player :\ DirectX9

Note In this folder path, the CD player represents the drive letter of the CD drive.

6 double-click on Apr2005_d3dx9_25_x86.cab, right click on d3dx9_25.dlland then click copy.

In Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends, double click Aug2005_d3dx9_27_x64.cab right-click d3dx9_27.dlland then click copy.

Note Use the Apr2005_d3dx9_25_x64.cab file for the x 64 version of the Windows operating system.

    7. find one or more of the following folders, depending on the games that are installed on the computer:

By car : \Program Files\Microsoft: Age of Empires III

    By car : \Program Files\Microsoft Games\Fable - The Lost Chapters

    By car : \Program Files\Microsoft Games\Zoo Tycoon 2

    By car : \Program Files\Microsoft Games\Rise of legends

Note In these folder paths, drive represents the letter of the drive where the game is installed.

    8. right click on the folder of the game which is the part that is installed on the computer, and then click Paste.

Note If you have installed more than one game on the computer, repeat steps 5 and 6 for the other games.

You can check the link for more information: error message when you try to start a Microsoft game: "the file d3dx9_XX. DLL was not found": http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910813

Alternatively, you can try to install the game in XP compatibility mode and check if you are able to play or not.

Right-click on the game > click Properties > click on the Compatibility tab > select for XP compatibility mode > click OK.

Let me know if it worked.

When I try to access the games, I get this message:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Minesweeper (I got just to click on this game) \Minesweeper.exe the specified path does not exist.  Check the path and try again.  (But I don't know how to check the path!  Can someone help me?

    Thank you, b.

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Minesweeper (I got just to click on this game) \Minesweeper.exe the specified path does not exist.  Check the path and try again.

What do you get the message above? You try to put a tick in the box empty for Minesweeper in Windows turn features on or off?

    Not accessible games

I haven't had any changes consciously, and the games do not work in any user account.  When I've done sfc/scannow (command prompt) he said that I was not the administrator.  I could learn from another source to solve this problem - in the start menu, right click on the command prompt icon, and then click Run as administrator.  Hope everybody help with this problem.  If you do not have command prompt in your Start menu, any type of command prompt in your search box and it should appear.

  • Is there a way to allow more than one person accessing and editing a file

Original title: records of public folders

Hi, when there is a file on a public folder cannot be access by one person at a time or you get the message 'open read-only '. Is there a way to allow more than one person accessing and editing a file at the same time on a shared drive?

It's true, but there are a few special cases.  For example, spreadsheet Microsoft Excel is adjustable mode "shared" so that more than one person can make changes at the same time.  If two people edit the same section of the file, they get a prompt asking you which changes are preserved.

That said-I was never able to use it effectively.

  • Edition include files in Sync Center

I use Sync Center to provision of shared files from PC1 on PC2, but every time I edit a file offline (when I'm offline) on PC2, I want to be updated on the PC2, whenever both are online. How can I do?

    Windows 7 Ultimate x 64

    Hi Yinka F'Ola,.

-Are activated in Sync Center offline files? Check this and if it is disabled, enable it.

If you work with files on a network, you can make the files available offline so that you can access them even when your computer is not connected to the network. This is particularly useful if you use a laptop to connect to a workplace network.

When you make a folder available offline, Windows creates a copy of the file on your computer. It's what we call a file offline. The next time you disconnect from the network, you will always be able to open, edit and save the file in the same way that you would if you were still connected. And when you connect again to the network, Windows automatically syncs the file offline on your computer with the file on the network.

    See the link for help:
