  My Mini DisplayPort seems to have stopped working. I can connect on the same monitor of the ultrabook even through the USB port. However, because I'm a geek of database I need up to 3 screens. So when I try and connect to my Mini DisplayPort monitor the screen resolution tab in the Control Panel recognizes the display. However, the actual display is empty. Mini DisplayPort has worked well for the last 8 months or so, but stopped working tonight.

  The external monitor is; -Samsung; SyncMaster 941BW/940BW\199BW, SyncMaster Magic CX915BW (Digital)

  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Satellite L755-11j - cooling fan seems to have stopped working

  I have the model Satellite L755-11j and I'm really happy with it, strong, fast and reliable, I have only one problem: my cooling fan seems to have stopped working.

  I don't know if it's a hardware or software (BIOS is set to dynamic switch, and in the power management is set to 'Active') delivers, because I come from Croatia, diagnostic PC is incredibly overpriced here and I can replace the fan on my own.

  I want to just make sure I don't buy new cooling fan and my problem persists. Install speedfan and Toshiba PC health monitor only confirmed what I suspected, my laptop gets hot.

  To be honest, it is not easy to help you with this. Is that cooling fan works automatically and there is not a special option where you can control. Only thing you can change is the cooling method option that you can find in the advanced power options > Toshiba power saver.

  Check it please what option is set to on. Of course on this virtual path, it is not easy to tell if the cooling fan is defective or not.

  Hello and thnaks for the help. I looked in Device Manager and found 27 wifi networks (I travel a lot), I removed all and reconnected and hey presto - its working again.

  I don't know if this solution will help others but for what its worth, it worked for me

  Everytime I open my videos folder my theme is immediately changed to Windows Vista Basic and about 3 to 5 seconds later Windows Explorer crashes. I heard that it is caused by corrupted mp4 files and I deleted some mp4 files, but the problem persists. The remaining file that I have in the folder is not in the trash and the mp4s are corrupt who have been moved to the Recycle Bin now cause my theme change when I go to the Recycle Bin and Windows Explorer crashes when I go as well.   Rather than open the Recycle Bin, right-click on it and then click on the empty basket.  This could work given that when opened it does not work and in this way you are not open it.

  To remove the remaining MP4 file, try Unlocker: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Unlocker.shtml that sometimes will delete the files when the standard Vista delete process does not work.  Hope that the same problem occurs here what happens with Windows Explorer.

  It is always interesting to try a Hard Reset as follows.

  Shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery, connect the power adapter and start Notepad.

  I have Creed of Assassin's I, II and brotherhood, Hitman: Silent Assassin, Hitman:Blood Money, Hitman:Contracts and the original 47 Hitman:Codename.  Now one of the seven will load and read, but it's the only program, the only one that does not appear on the list of installed programs, being the Codename 47.

  These games, used to work just fine until Ubisoft has improved the Game launcher to 2.x software and now all my games that are installed have stopped working and fail to finish loading.  They claim that the pitcher throws other programs on the PC outside their software.  Now none of them work, including other games that are not Ubisoft.  I tried CCleaner, uninstall, then reinstall, etc. anything.  They seem to have changed some of the files base within the Pro Win7 OS I use.  It of very frustrating and lost more time to try to nail down trying to find the changes that have been made.  Short of a new Win7Pro facility, which would empty all the software that I installed and if I do that I can as well wipe the entire hard drive, and then start over again, I really don't want to do.  I'm afraid that if I buy a new game that uses graphics to high-end of my CPU and GPU capabilities, it does not work either and it will just be wasting my money and time as well.  Is there any real help to this other question that the stars from scratch?

  I built my own off the shelf components, is a system of Wintel ASUS mother board and video card (ATI 1 GB), Intel processor i7 quad core 950 3.07 GHz, Win7Pro, 6 GB of DDR3 RAM, etc.  just a notch below extreme, built when the 950 had just been out for a month or 2.  It was and is still, works very well.  Somehow the OS files seem to have been changed.  All other software such as AutoCAD and other rendering software, works very well.

  I still don't think that the "launcher" mess with Windows is just a buggy application and is may be in conflict with something else.

I could like windows 8, if I could every get this works for me instead of working me for her. The account that does not work is the first story that I created on the machine, so it was created as a default Administrator account. I created a new account admin can I now change the name of the 'standard' account on the old account and then delete it? (I know I have to move some files first). I had a local account for my wife, and when that happened, I simply deleted and made an account of microsoft for it and all its apps still work. Internet solutions has suggested that it might be something "group policy". I have no idea what that means, I'm not a person I.T.. I'm really sorry, I bought this HP machine with windows 8. It seems that I have spend more time trying to understand how to solve what I do to use it. I paid a lot of money for it and thought I was getting a machine of high quality with the latest and greatest software solution and would be able to stay in place through technology. Would be nice if it actually worked.

  Because I've had my laptop cleaned and reloaded I try not to use this machine much more simply because my account has problems of application. It's pretty sad. Microsoft please do the right thing and find this bug and send an update of windows to make it is transparent to the user, if you want us to continue to keep our faith in the Microsoft solution. Not everyone is a computer expert.

  Delete the account completely and reconfigure the account with the same e-mail address. This is how I fixed my problem.
