I'm under El Capitan 10.11.6 on iMac mid-2011 and also 9 month old MacBook running the same version.

My Applescript Editor, for three days, was hanged in a specific mode. Two days after that the iMac has developed symptoms, my MacBook developed identical symptoms. When he started working on two different scripts.

The editing window zooms suddenly to what looks like 300%. It scrolls very slowly to the top. Shows the beachball. The application is now completely insensitive and can only be stopped by force quit.

All other applications are turned off - it's the only thing running.

Strange that both your iMac and MacBook have the same problem with the Applescript Editor, but I'll do my best to help! I recommend to choose one of your Mac and try these steps with this one. If these steps have put things on a tested first, follow them as well on the second.

Try safe mode if your Mac does not start -even if your Mac is booting, boot in safe mode to make sure everything starts correctly. Once you have reached your office in safe mode, restart your Mac normally and try again the script.

How to test a question in an another user account on your Mac - establishment of a new user on your Mac will let us know if the problem is just in your user account or if it's a systemic problem.

Your Mac hard drive backup - if you have determined that the issues is not just located in your user account, I highly recommend backing up your Mac. Even if the next step should not be a problem, it is always better to 'having' a 'need' a backup backup.

On OS X Recovery - use this article to reinstall the operating system on your Mac and then retest your script.

    Take care!

  • the AppleScript editor does not work

    Hello

I have a problem: the applescript editor does not start. When I try to open this program, finder show that the editor is running. But he doesn't show me toolbar, mb air boot costs and in fact, that's all.

Can someone help me? screen filming wrote: no answer

    Hello sashasonia,

Looks like the AppleScript editor does not open on your Mac and activity monitor shows that the program is not responding. I know how about them can be when programs and applications do not work as expected and I'm happy to help you to get AppleScript up and run again.

The first step is to force the AppleScript Editor to quit smoking and then try opening it again. To force the closure of the program, follow these steps:

To close an application normally, choose leave in the application menu in the menu bar, or press command-Q. If an application does not respond, you can force it to close it using the Force to leave:

    1. Choose force quit from the Apple menu, or press Command-Option-Esc.
This is to press Ctrl-Alt-Delete on a PC.
    2. Select the application does not respond within the window to leave, then click on force quit.

Force a nearby application on your Mac.

If the AppleScript editor does not respond when you try to open it again, restart your Mac. To restart, select the  in the upper left corner of your screen, then "restart". Try again the AppleScript editor once you are logged into your user account.

If you still can't not to get the editor AppleScript work correctly, follow the steps outlined in the article below to start your Mac in safe mode, and then test the program again. Since starting in safe mode removes certain system and kernel hiding, check your startup disk and tries to fix the problems of directory, you will want to restart your Mac as usual again and test AppleScript editor once more when you are connected to your user account.

  • My address book contacts have disappeared since the upgrade to El Capitan. Where are they?

Hi, I upgraded to El Capitan yesterday and all the contacts in my address book Thunderbird disappeared. The AddressBook is completely empty. In addition, he didn't even address on the left hand books, for example "personal address book" etc. My contacts are stored on my computer? If so, where they are located and how can I get back to my address book? I've been adding contacts for a few years. When I compose email, email addresses are auto-fill in the field of composition, so it seems they are still out there? Thank you.

    Open the address book window.

Select the Directory to display-layout pane

However, the documentation does not mention this feature:

There is no 10gR 3 editor. The latest version of the editor is 6.5, which is compatible with WebCenter Interaction 10 gR 3. Further, Publisher will be replaced by Universal Content Management. • How do open Applescript AI can open the file and then run ExtendScript then close?

Here is the code sample Applescript that I came with the help of the script guide/reference for CS6 and by doing some research online:

    Tell application "Adobe Illustrator"

    activate

    period of 10

    pfilepath the value "/ Users/username/Documents/Temp/someFile.ai".

the pfile POSIX file pfilepath value

Open the pfile as alias without options

    period of 10

    do javascript "#include" / Users/username/Documents/Temp/someScript.jsx ".

    delay 1

    quit smoking

    tell the end

I just want to open the app (example here for, but also pleasant to do same for Photoshop), open a file, then run the ExtendScript file against her, and then close after treatment. With this example script, all that works is the app starts. No file not opened, any script executed, app does not close at the end. I see no error doesn't pop up or anything appear in the command prompt.

Just ExtendScript sample triggers an alert popup for the test message

Also note, the Applescript code snippet is executed from Python, but I think where/how it runs shouldn't matter (except perhaps where the error messages may appear). But in the worst case, I'll debug/run through the AppleScript Editor.

Some tips on what's not here? Or is it technically correct?

It solved here: MacScripter / POSIX Pass file path to Adobe Illustrator to run ExtendScript

  • Command delay AppleScript in display-asleep

    Hello

I would look for a way to run a script at midnight - NOT on a calendar. For example, I want to do the following:

delay 10000 -- assuming 10000 seconds to midnight

    activate the application "Notes".

tell application "System Events" to keystroke "Test"

The problem is that when my display sleep (the computer is not sleep), the delay control is stuck. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Are you really sure you want to exit a script running & hope that it will work?

Personally I would forget about the timer, set the script to be triggered by a calendar event instead.

    1. Save the script as an Application in the Applescript Editor.
    2. Add an event to the time you want in the calendars, set an alert, with "Open File at the time", choose custom: & add your script.

I think that the calendar will be reliable Mac hoping moe keeps the running script, it can wake the Mac - I test only.

Calendars also makes it very easy to reschedule.

  • Where is my scan?

Recently, I've scanned something I want to attach it to an email, but when I open the finder, I can't locate this folder. The default location is something called 'images', but no folder with that name is displayed. I tried several methods to locate this folder but not luck, and no, this isn't "photo". I've got El Capitan. Where is it and how do I make this folder visible? And of course, why it scan to a folder that is not easy to find?

The 'Images' folder is probably one of the files easier to find, as it is shown by default on the side bar of the Finder. To find it, open a Finder window and choose "Images" in the sidebar. If it is not there, go to the Finder menu-> preferences-> Sidebar and mark 'Photos '.

Another option is to open a Finder window, select the menu go (in menu bar)-> go to the folder, and then copy this:

    ~/Pictures

Finally, the sweeping app should allow you to change the default folder, so you can do it if you wish.

  • Lightroom 5: AppleScript: action 'AXShowMenu' in the Smart Collection Panel does not display a context menu

We are developing a tool for simple automation using Lightroom 5 (the most recent version of the penal code) using AppleScript.

For certain actions, we need the context menu in the Panel smart Collections, for example, to import smart collections descriptions.

According to the documentation and sources on stackoverflow and elsewhere, AXShowMenu should bring up this menu.

So far I was not able to do the contextual pop-up menu.

With the help of UIElementInspector and the browser of the user interface, I have found the element that has the attached AXShowMenu action. Based on the code provided by the browser of the user interface, I got the following script, that I run from the Applescript Editor:

tell application "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5"

    activate

    tell application "System Events"

    tell process "Lightroom"

    set frontmost to true

perform action 1 of static text "Smart Collections" of group 1 of row 11 of outline 1 of scroll area 1 of window 6

    delay 2

    end tell

    end tell

    end tell

tell application "AppleScript Editor" to activate

Note that if you try to recreate it, the number of the window as well as the number of the line may be different. In addition, the last line is just more convenience and not really relevant to the code.

In the window results in the AppleScript Editor, I have the following:

perform action 1 of static text "Smart Collections" of group 1 of row 11 of outline 1 of scroll area 1 of window 6 of process "Lightroom"

--> action "AXShowMenu" of static text "Smart Collections" of group 1 of row 11 of outline 1 of scroll area 1 of window 6 of application process "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5"

which means I have to invoke the action.

    But... nothing happens.

Any insight, etc. workaround is much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Just for the records, I asked the same question on Stackoverflow, and I got a response that does not work. This solution uses a small Python program to really simulate mouse clicks.

  • How can I use applescript for OCR to a bunch of files - with Acrobat XI?

    Hello

IWant to write an AppleScript (for example) that can be used as a droplet or has a menu to open a folder of pdf files scanned for OCR. And - I want to use Acrobat XI (because it's my version), German version.

As Acrobat XI is not recordable with applescript editor and I can't find a manual of objects and methods I googled a script that worked with Acrobat 9, but not with Acrobat XI. Here, you define a "Wizard of Action" - Script for example called "OCR this ' and 'click' of the element. But as in Acrobat XI this Item is noch in hand-sbubmenu more than it seems to not work.

    Here is a screenshot:

    Bildschirmfoto 2014-07-14 um 10.57.06.png

And it's theapplescrpt, tha opens "Aktionsassistent":

Click on the menu item "Aktionsassistent" in the menu "Tools" from menu item "Tools" in the menu "Anzeige" of the menu bar item "Anzeige" from the menu bar 1

BotR, so I cannot reach "OCR it."

If any body has a suspicion - either by clicking on "OCR this ' or sript an OCR on one open our AppleScript, that would be great.

    Thank you

    Smail

AppleScript is documented in the Acrobat SDK kit. But there is no way to do it.
