El Capitan let me download Adobe and others

Could someone please help me with a problem that will test what little patience I left!  Having managed to work my way through the new Photos app on my Macbook Pro (15 "end 2011 running El Capitan 10.11.1) very patiently and creating a folder of images selected for a photo album, I want to create for Christmas, the following happens: -.

1 wanted to clean and improve some images so I decided to take advantage of the Adobe Photoshop elements 14 up-to-date (available until December 3).  I made my choice but the page hangs during extraction and whenever I go back/refresh the page/sign in new etc, it increases the number of downloads, I want to, but don't let me cross to do something else - either to correct, delete or buy.  Interestingly, when I try the same process on my iMac (running currently Mountain Lion), it allows me to get through to buy and download, even if I won't because I know that Mountain Lion will not work 14 items.

2. in 2012 when I was running a Windows PC, I created a photo album using Blurb.com.  It was brilliantly simple, and I want to create my new photobook in the same style as the previous.  So, I decided to download Booksmart installation on the site of Blurb.  He acknowledged that I was running a Mac and, feeling relieved that I could download the application and repeat a previous success, I proceeded to download.  Then, the same problem as with Adobe has occurred... I clicked, the wheel went along, stopped and nothing happened!  No download, no sign of life whatsoever.

So my questions to any expert out there who would like to try and help me achieve my Christmas project is... There are solutions out there for me to do what I want to do with Adobe and Blurb or are my limited choice, now that I've updated to El Capitan?  If my choice must be alternatives, can someone please point me in the direction of what I CAN use with El Capitan? A Merry Christmas depends on lower my current stress with this level.

Thanks a lot for listening.
