elements of od complete folder - very slow trash

Hello

iMac: Mac OS X Lion mountain and 32 GB of RAM

I got a few files deleted from a hard drive and the software created a folder with the files that it contains more 2 645 000! Most of the range of 55 KB to 300 KB files.

I know that the finder is slower manage all these files, but if I select, roughly 10,000 files and send them to the Recycle Bin, it takes more than 24 hours to do. Empty the trash is a hrs of slower, but not 24 bit!

Is there a better way to clean up the record?

Thank you

Jacques

It might be faster to move things you want to save, and then delete the entire folder and everything left in it. Perhaps.

You can also... Are you comfortable with the terminal? "rm" is famous for the ease and speed with which it clears stuff. In fact, the biggest challenge is not accidentally irreversibly deleting things wrong.

    Hi @atomarchio,

I was check in this issue and found a number of things that can help.

Replace with the IP address of the computer that hosts the folder targets of network for the name of this computer.  For example, if the network path is listed as \\david\8670scans, change it to read \\192.168.1.102\8670scans.

Suddenly my Windows XP has become very slow or crashes when working with photos.  I have Canon DPP and Photoshop Elements installed, and in the two following occurs: I can edit a photo without any problem but when I try to work with a second picture the system slows down / freezes.  It unlocks after a minute or two each time.  I tried cleaners registry check disk, Disk Defragmenter, virus, etc. etc. scans and no problems.  All other works very well and this problem started just out of nowhere.  Any suggestions or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

  • manipulation of file/folder Win 8.1Thunderbird very slow

Long story short: Win 7 has been corrupted, so I installed Win 8.1. All programs work well, with the exception of Thunderbird. Any action of Thunderbird is extremely slow, up to a few minutes to perform any action. The program is unusable in normal windows mode. However,.

Thunderbird works fine in safe mode, even with the antivirus software (Iolo / System Mechanic) currently running.

A cause may be that any action I take with files bigger than a few bytes of Thunderbird is very slow. Copy, move, delete all the files of Thunderbird is extremely slow. I tried to copy other big files and folders in the T-bird folders and delete them, and they work fine. It's just the Thunderbird files that seem to be stuck in the glue.

I added Thunderbird to my allowed firewall programs, so this is not it.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Thunderbird, nothing helps.

There may be other things that you must disable in System Mechanic, such as analysis of messages incoming and outgoing and scanning of attachments.
Alternatively, you can ask in a forum for System Mechanic.

When you download and install games and other you don't normally need to keep what you have downloaded in the downloads folder. Some downloads are wide to remove could free up some disk space! You need to do on a regular basis to keep on top of the problem...

The content of your video in total 414 GB file. You might look at some of them again? If this is not the case, delete those that you no longer need.

You have a lot of icons on the desktop. Take a look at these and remove those that you never use.

When you did above select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, cleaning disk to emptying your trash, delete temporary Internet files and other selected options. I recommend also you click Other Options, System Restore and delete all but the last system restore point. Run Disk Defragmenter.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model

Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as

  • Win2008r2 x 64 very slow VM running under Windows 7 Ultimate x 64

I have searched in the nets and have seen similar problems. However, I just wanted to see if anyone has had the time to fix the issues that I am experiencing. Bascially,: the performance is so bad when you perform an initial installation developer that I shudder to think of what it will be like in normal use. You name: copies of the host is slow, running installs it variety takes an eternity, but the classic is when I installed windows 2008R2 x 64 has taken more than 6 hours to format the 80 GB drive, copy files across and complete the installation.

In any case, I try to configure a 3.51 .NET / MOSS 2007 Developer of windows 2008R2 x 64 installation. I do this on a labtop to 2.2 Ghz AMD Turion X 2 recently acquired running Windows 7 Ultimate.x64. I have 4 GB of RAM and the usual WIFI Attheros. First of all, I chose VMWare Server 2.01 because it supports USB2 and 64-bit, instant clients while Virtual PC 2007 does ' t.

    Win2008R2 comments

    1. Memory of the VM value first 1 GB 2Gbto see if ifit makes much difference

    2. 2 vCPU

    3. CDROM installed

    4. VMWareTools... haven't tried to install it but page left summary seems to indicate I have not, not sure if it would substantially improve performance.

    5. Bridge networ_k_

    Things to try

Looking at this networking wire Workstation 6.5 on Windows Vista x 64 host - bridged is broken! The performance of the network very slow folder shared! I should conider

    1. Check that in the laptop BIOS VT is enabled by default - I assumed it was.

    2. Reduction in the number of vCPUs to 1

    3. Drop the CDROM

    4. Ensure that VMWare Tools is fully installed

    5. Deactivation of windows 7 next host card connection network Local - & gt; Configure - & gt; Properties - & gt; Advanced: Large Send Offload v2 (IPv4) and Large Send Offload v2 (IPv6). Remember I'm toward the life of a wifi connection, so this may or may not have any effect

    6. Anything else anyone can think please...?

I guess I just need some advice to help solve this painful problem, as it is to distract me from what I should do on the guest o/s...

If you have done nothing yet, try first assign to VM 1 GB and 1 vCPU. Do never set more than 50% of memory available VM vive.

About RDP: it connects OK? Check the system logs and firewall.

  • Firefox very slow while Chrome is fast

    Hi all

Spin LMDE 2, totally updated and using Firefox 50.0.2 Firefox is really very slow for some time now - it is so slow to start, slow to scroll a page even with one tab open and takes a minute to type a full word. I tried to start Firefox in safe mode, completely deleting my user profile and start fresh, use "apt - get remove - purge" and then reinstalling firefox... and still stupidly slow. Chrome is fast, quick start, can run 20 + tabs without a slowdown in performance, no problem at all.

And my laptop is not in rest - it is 3 years old, has a processor i7, 8 GB of RAM and a Quadro video card. I have also run 2 LMDE and all apps from a 256 GB SSD card. The directory is on a 500 GB SATA hard drive, however. So I expect you to improve the performance of Firefox, so there must be something wrong - I would really appreciate if someone could give me some guidance as to what could be the problem please?

    Hello

Some Firefox problems can be solved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you delete your Firefox program files, and then reinstall Firefox. This process does not delete your Firefox profile (such as bookmarks and passwords) data, since this information is stored in a different location.

To do a clean reinstall of Firefox, follow these steps: Note: you can print these steps or consult them in another browser.

    1. Download the latest version of Firefox from mozilla.org office (or choose the download for your operating system and language on this page) and save the file to install it on your computer.
    2. Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (or open the Firefox menu and click on the button close ).
    3. Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
      • Windows:

        • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
        • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
      • Mac: Delete Firefox in the Applications folder.
      • Linux: If you have installed Firefox with the distribution-based package manager, you must use the same way to uninstall: see Install Firefox on Linux. If you have downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
    4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
      1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
      2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.

More information on the resettlement of Firefox can be found here.

WARNING: Do not use an uninstaller to third parties as part of this process. This could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and passwords saved. They can be retrieved easily unless they have been backed up on an external device! See back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox.

Please report to say if this helped you!

    Thank you.

  • very slow Powerbook fine, iMacs

My family uses 2 iMacs (1 2013, 1 earlier) and an Apple Powerbook at home. 2 iMac is incredibly slow, but the speed of the Powerbook is fine. IMacs both have a lot of unused storage and memory and I completely restored two iMacs and deleted unnecessary files, but they are very slow. I have everything back up on Dropbox and wonder now if the slowness is something to do with the combination of the signal at high speed and by using several connections of Dropbox in the House.  We have a Virgin Media Hub Super 2ac with advertised broadband router of up to 150 Mbps. I made a speed control using www.speedtest.com and the download speed is 105.81 Mbps and download speed is 9.70 Mbps. Any ideas anyone?

You can view a report of etrecheck for later analysis

    www.etrecheck.com

but I would like to disable and remove dropbox to test the system and if they improve the problem there.

  • My wifi/internet is very slow since the IPhone Update 9.3.4.

I have an IPhone 6 and since the update (3 days ago) my wifi/Internet is very slow.

Minutes of need for pages to load, and the App Store and the ITunes App not to load any. Photos and videos need a time very Long if they work at all.

The wireless router is not the problem because my laptop works fine with it.

    Thank you for responding!

Here's a tip for the user on the problems of Wi - Fi. Suggest from the top and bottom.

Alternatively, you can try to reset the App Store first, since it won't load at all. Please follow these steps:

Close the App Store completely from the window of the selector app by double clicking the Home button and slide up the App Store preview pane until it disappears from the display. Then sign out of the iTunes Store (in the settings).

    Then restart the unit.

Then sign into the iTunes Store and try to download again.

    (1) restart you device.

    (2) resetting the network settings: settings > general > reset > reset network settings. Join the network again.

    (3) reboot router/Modem: unplug power for 2 minutes and reconnect. Update the Firmware on the router (support Web site of the manufacturer for a new FW check). Also try different bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and different bandwidths (recommended for 2.4 to 20 MHz bandwidth). Channels 1, 6 or 11 are recommended for 2.4 band.

    (4) change of Google DNS: settings > Wi - Fi > click the network, delete all the numbers under DNS and enter 8.8.8.8 or otherwise 8.8.4.4

    (5) disable the prioritization of device on the router if this feature is available. Also turn off all apps to VPN and retest the Wi - Fi.

    (6) determine if other wireless network devices work well (other iOS devices, Mac, PC).

    (7) try the device on another network, i.e., neighbors, the public coffee house, etc.

    (8) backup and restore the device using iTunes. Try to restore as New first and test it. If ok try to restore the backup (the backup may be corrupted).

    (9) go to the Apple store for the evaluation of the material. The Wi - Fi chip or the antenna could be faulty.

  • Thunderbird 38.4.0 very slow to open or delete messages (about 5 seconds) CAUSE: Bitdefender AV

Very slow to open or delete messages in Thunderbird. Compacting folders, emptied the files Junk and trash, no improvement. Just improved 38.4.0 (about 3 hours ago)

If you have not changed anything except thunderbird update, then it is probably caused by antivirus software. See https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird: test: Antivirus_Related_Performance_Issues and https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird: test: Memory_Usage_Problems
