  I think that this problem can occur because I bought lightroom 5, but my creative cloud account installed lightroom 5.5.   Oh my God I fixed it. Lucy was on the right track, so was Tatiana, but it was a little different. When I searched my downloads for lightroom installers uninstall lightroom then try again (when the Kieth fix did not work), I found three. Two for lightroom 5.2 and one for lightroom 5.5. I uninstalled lightroom 5.5, which was the only lightroom software on my computer and uninstalled creative cloud. I then reinstalled lightroom using a 5.2 installers and BAM! He asks me a serial code!

  In 2013, I bought Adobe CS6 Design & Web Premium for Windows and I have installed and used without any problems. Then I stopped using it for a while until what I needed it until recently.   CS6 serial number registered on your Adobe account is a term license that ended in 2013.

  Term licenses have been sold by some education resellers so you would be best to check with your dealer if that's what you ordered.

  Are you using the serial number of the Creative Suite 6 registered under your account to find your serial number ?  It is your email address that you work for an organization.  If yes then your organization likely has a volume for Creative Suite 6 license.  Volume license serial number will be available at http://licensing.adobe.com/.

  In regard to installation returns to the mode of trial what utility system are set up on the current computer?  The user account you are using has full administrative access to the computer?  Use any utility that can restore the computer to a previous state?
