  I have a very special, HP Elitebook 8540p, running Windows 10 pro 64 bit on a processor intel i7 640 M dual core, and I'm confused as to the amount of RAM I can upgrade to.  I read that it can vary from 8 GB to 16 GB and beyond. My laptop has only two memory card capacity. The type of RAM cards are 204-pin DDR3 SO-DIMM.

  A table on page #16, your machine has only 2 slots so its 8 GB strips of RAM DDR3 Physclally Max supports are the same (pins, length,...).

  Sorry lol. There is a white list of BIOS that stops the computer from starting if you install any WiFi card except cards HP part number offered on the model when new.

• EliteBook 8540p: need help with HP Elitebopok 8540p Bios corrupted restore

  A few months ago, I installed a bios update for my HP Elitebook 8540p.  After the update, the PC started trolling, so I tried to restart the PC.  Instead of reboting, all the lights turn on (except for the light of the HARD drive), and the CAPS lock flashes indefinitely.  I have serached tirelessly for a response to the restoration of the bios.   Tried to remove the CMOS battery, draining the power of the PC and also tried to start the update of the Bios of the page files produced here.

  I recently got a HP EliteBook 8540p.  I encrypted the drive, and it runs a Windows XP Pro SP3 corporate base.  The wireless adapter is an Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200 AGN on the wireless adapter.  There were no updates for this computer recently.  When you connect first on the system, if I leave the card activated via the touch button wireless, wireless adapter to connect to my home network, or elsewhere, that I am.  The connection remains stable ranging from 20 to 30 minutes, then falls.  It is therefore more connectivity and looking at the list of available networks, it is no longer a.  When you restart the laptop it freezes very probably at the point when he tries to close the network connections.  I found that when he is in this condition, before the reboot, and I try to turn on/off the network card; I get adapter did not notice during activation.

  I have tried everything that involves it linked to a LAN driver (not wireless):

  Intel PROSet and Driver for XP MS 15.1.1.1 utility

  HP TravelHub and LAN Drivers 2.4.8.0

  Driver Intel 82577LM and 82577LC Gigabit Ethernet

  None of them have worked.  I ran the installer and also tried manually, go to the drivers and install through the Device Manager interface.

  None have worked.

  Any idea what I need to download the correct drivers?

  It is one or two things...

  1. you switch LAN/WLAN enabled in the BIOS, and you do not have a wired network cable right now.

  Disable the LAN/WLAN switching and wireless and wired adapters appears in Device Manager.

  2. you have LAN enabled in the BIOS power saving Mode. This setting disables the LAN card when the laptop is not connected to the a/c power, and you're driving on the wireless network.

  Disable the LAN power saving Mode and will always be the card cable system in the Device Manager, plugged in or not.

  I recommend you to read Chapter 4 of the manual on the link below... page 60 & 68.

  Computers that use the card mother with the spare part number 595765-001 or 630294-001 have four memory locations.

  On these computers, in both locations of memory expansion (at the bottom of the)

  computer) and memory locations main (under the keyboard), slot 2 cannot be occupied if slot 1 is not met.

  If your laptop has 2 x 2 GB memory in the slots of the upper (primary), you will need to put the corresponding memory in the lower expansion slots.

  In other words, you put two 4 GB chips into the bottom slots 2.

  It should not at all important if you switch the chips (put the 2 x 2 x 2 GB and 4 GB in the top slots in the slots on the bottom).

  The reason of memory must be installed in pairs GB is so it can operate in DDR mode.

  So, if you only buy a 4 GB chip in a first time, put it in the #1 expansion slot.
