To analyze and solve problems for Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag (download and save to the desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 ) tool
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the button continue, which will produce the report.
To copy the report in your response, click the button copy in the tool (ignore the error at this stage), and then paste (using r-click and paste or Ctrl + V) in your response.

If prefer the key for another reason, try to use Belarc Advisor - he will tell you that and much more. - www.belarc.com

Sorry, but I can't understand your question.

You have a Windows XP installation CD?

You have your product key? If so, what type of Windows installation has been this - OEM (for example, if it is preinstalled on the computer) or retail?

There is nothing on the CD that binds to a particular product key, but the CD that you use must match the CD in regard to OEM edition compared to the retail and upgrade vs. full,.

If you buy a CD without a product key, it is not authentic; It is hacked, and you would look in trouble.

And in regards to the used CDs, note that a copy retail may be moved from one computer to another, but an OEM one cannot.

Double check you type the product key exactly as written on the license. A few letters and numbers look like.

Note: The product key you use must be used with the correct disk version. You must use the disc that came with your license.

For example, if you have an OEM license, then this license can be used only with a Pro XP OEM disc. OEM licenses are licenses that come with your computer, usually the product key is stuck on the side or at the top of the computer, or a laptop.

If you have a retail license, you must have a retail XP Pro Version. Retail licenses are FPP (full packaged product) and often have the license on a yellow or orange sticker.

If you have an enterprise license (Volume License), you must have a Corporate Version of the XP Po. These are usually only available for large networks.

The license sticker will be a version, it is an example for an OEM version: X 11-37156

Make a note of your version and find the disk corresponding to this version.

  • Cannot read the original product key on the sticker.

I would like to reinstall Vista from scratch, but it was done once already with a product key different than the original one. I would use the original this time, but the sticker is worn off the coast and unreadable. Are there any other unique identifiers on the laptop I could either give the Microsoft or the manufacturer to get the original product key? Thus, the old records of packaging and recovery are over for a long time. Any ideas are appreciated.

    Hey ErdeKaiserSigma

There is no record to microsoft who has what product keys

and software key finder will not help that you have installed this version with a different product key

Contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send a set of recovery disks the original for your machine
the recovery disks generally do not require the entry of a product key
    ask them about it

  • What can I do if I can't read that the key is for Windows because of the part of the key on the sticker has rubbed off and must be re-installed Windows?

The key to Windows inlegible sticker, want to reinstall windows

What can I do if I can't read that the key is for Windows because of the part of the key on the sticker has rubbed off and must be re-installed Windows?  The product ID is located under the control panel > system maintenance > system > Windows Activation of a useful?  I don't want to end up with a Clipboard after that reinstalling Windows because I have a legitimate copy of Windows, but the key became disfigured over time, since it's on the bottom of the laptop.  I have Windows Vista Home Premium SP 2 running on a Dell Inspiron it's way outside the guarantee of its window.

    Thank you!

    Hello

If you have a product key on a sticker in your computer, this means that you have an OEM product key. If you have OEM keys, this means that the windows you have here is preinstalled.

If you reinstall windows OEM copy, you must use either the original manufacturer recovery disk or the recovery partition. If you use one of the people, should not be put to any start-up because the windows OEM versions are technically preactivated.

If you don't have a disc or a recovery partition, you can contact your OEM (DELL) so that they can send you a disk. Alternatively, you can contact Microsoft Support just in case. : D

  • I lost my product key, but the drive is empty, so I can't get the key to the registry. What can I do else? Thank you.

    Desktop computer, Windows XP pro.

If you have lost your product key XP, the best option is to call Microsoft. Call on (800) 248-0655 Microsoft Licensing Fulfillment Center toll-free number from Monday to Friday from 06:00 to 15:00 Pacific time.

Otherwise, you need to replace your Windows XP by purchasing a full commercial version. Amazon and NewEgg always sell. This is no different than needing to replace any other type of item you have lost.

In the case of a contact of computer (HP, Dell, etc.) OEM OEM purchase recovery media. It is generally not very expensive. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • I have a windows xp OEM SOFTWARE license key, but the drive has failed. This key will work on any XP installation disc?

due to a major problem, I have to completely remove the operating system (under license). can I still use this key to set up windows again? I have a key to the back of my sticker only computer laptop written "SOFTWARE OEM windows xp". Can I use this key with any windows xp cd? or I have to use a specific version? can u give me the link to download the specific version?

    Thanks in advance

You must use the recovery disks provided by the manufacturer (or the integrated recovery system) - see you manual for more details.

The major advantage of this is that all the required drivers should be included, so that you can immediately connect to the internet and install all updates.

Reisntalling using the sysstem of correct recovery also means that you shouldn't need to use the key on your COA stiker - as key to 'master' of the manufactuerer is integrated into the system and should not require activation.

  • I need to reinstall Windows Vista but the sticker on the laptop product key is not readable.

My partner has an Acer laptop running Windows Vista Basic 32-bit. He needs a complete reinstallation of Windows because there a lot of problems now. The problem is the sticker of the product key on the laptop is often illegible. I tried to use the Magic Jelly Bean finder key to resolve this issue, but the key does not match what the letters which are readable on the sticker. I tried this on my own laptop and had the same problem (sticker key did not key on the computer). Neither laptops have had Windows reinstalled before. I learned that the keys posted by Magic Jelly Bean are in fact license keys of Volume factory installed by the OEM rather than found on the stickers product keys and Volume license keys cannot be used to reinstall Windows.

His cell phone doesn't have a recovery disk or a recovery partition, but even if she did, given its current state, a complete reinstallation is what it takes. Her cell phone is not come with a Windows Installation DVD, either, but we can borrow one from a friend who owns a disk with the same version of Windows as his laptop and I know that works perfectly. We just need a way to recover the product key that was on the sticker. We are not ready to buy a new copy of Windows that we already have a license (through the purchase of the laptop) key.

PS I remember that I helped my father after reinstall Windows XP. We tried both the key on the sticker of his PC and the one that we found on the PC itself (Volume key). In the end, only the key on the sticker has worked. This confirms that a Volume license key cannot be used to reinstall Windows.

    Hello

We cannot help you with your product key and there are no records of loan use

recovery discs are brand and the specific model

and product key finder programs will not help you find product keys that you can use vista preinstalled in these circumstances

to reinstall vista use either disk or recovery partition recovery manufacturer, since they do not normally require an input key product on your part

The manufacturer must provide a way to reinstal vista or by disk or a recovery Partition

    Contact Acer recovery Vista disc

    https://secure.TX.Acer.com/rcdb/main.aspx?brand=Acer

and Acer has a "hidden" recovery partition

Normally with an Acer, you press Alt + F10 at startup to start the process, or if it is still ongoing, you go to section eRecovery under [programs and search for how to make recovery discs and the use of the recovery partition
