Embedded index

I use Adobe Acrobat XI Pro and want to integrate an index. According to the reference guide, I need to select Tools > Document processing > manage indexes Embeded. However the process is not in my version. What should I look for? Thank you!

  1. The document open in Acrobat, choose Tools > Document Processing > manage embedded Index.
  2. In the dialog box to manage the indexes incorporated, click on incorporate the Index.
  3. Read the messages that appear, and then click OK.

    A common way to lose an embedded index is to do a "save under" on the PDF file.

    This provides the PDF file with the feature of quick web display but the losses the index incorporated.

  • Advanced search in Reader 9 for packages w / embedded indexes created in Acrobat 8.1

    I'm having a terrible day.  I just finished combining thousands of documents in packages of 6 w / embedded index using Acrobat 8.1.  The advanced search feature allowed me to enter several names of peoples' Wilkes Terry White Smith Johnson and I could select to "Match any of the words" and I would be able to see all the documents mentioned any of these names.  The problem is that my boss doesn't have Reader 9 installed and its advanced search screen seems quite different for the nice advanced search screen that I can see.  I can't figure out how to get all the features of advanced search so he can use it.  If he enters several names 'Wilkes Terry White Smith', he gets no success because the system is assuming that I am looking for a person named "Wilkes Terry White Smith."  Is it possible to have the search find 'Match any of the words' rather than 'Match the exact phrase' using Reader 9.  I'm in trouble tomorrow.

    Yes; If the embedded index is always present and 'Search' rather than 'Find' is used.

    Edit > search rather than edit > find.

    The research requires the embedded index, or an index of catalog.

    If a PDF with the embedded index undergoes a "save under" the embedded index is deleted and the PDF file saved to support the quick display of Web pages.

  • The research of the embedded index does not work for the PDF file opened with Adobe Reader in a browser

    Due to the way in which we use our Document management system, if we want to search through multiple or large files stored in our DMS PDF we merge PDF together and create an embedded index. This works perfectly well, when you open the PDF file in Adobe Reader standalone. Enter a particular term can bring 100 hits (very quickly) in the Adobe Reader search results pane.

    However, if we launch the PDF with Adobe Reader in Internet Explorer (any version), enter a term to search (contained in document) only get one result, that of the file name of the document itself.

    Unfortunately most of our users will access our DMS documents with internal links.

    Any ideas greatly appreciated.

    It is a problem with Reader 8. You must use that...

    Using Reader 9. It will work well with it.

    I tried to find out what is happening for a while now... and I still don't have the beginning of an index

    Here's what happens:

    I opened a large pdf file, slightly more than 1000 pages (this is a dictionary in pdf format), and then I type a word in the search box, it starts searching, page after page (I see the evolution of research in a small black window) and it takes a while before he finally found the word, I mean a serious amount of time...

    "nothing surprising if far" I guess at the time, I thought that, given the weight of the paper, the number of files and tons of words it contains, it would be normal for the drive to take the time to do a job

    but then, not to say all of a sudden as I was looking for another word, the black window open, but instead of telling me, a moment, player page which is currently looking, he jumped suddenly to the right page where my word was, instead of looking for 5 minutes, it has found the correct word less than a second , and once he started to act like that he stuck to it. I mean now, I can type any new word in the search box of this document, it is found in the speed of light... even if I am looking at page 1 and this word is on page 600 that has never been opened...


    what I was asking is simply WHY this difference? Why does first research takes minutes, and suddenly, almost immediate, for any NEW Word?

    I would like to know what is happening there, because I opened another big pdf file, and it's the same thing, slow at the beginning, then immediately, but I could not know what seems to have changed something in the way that reader is looking...

    It's a problem because I have anoter pdf large file that still has a slow search, and I love him to benefit from the same miracle, but as long as this thing is a mystery, I can't get him to behave this way by myself, so for now I watch every pdf I open, hoping to understand what is happening...

    I know this may sound stupid, but... actually, I hope it's a stupid question and someone will explain to me why!

    For Adobe Reader, go to the preferences:
    Edit > Preferences > search

    The Fast Find option is enabled by default (with a 100 MB Cache).
    This makes future research faster by storing information on used PDF files often.

    'Find' checks each word against the query "search". The first time, it takes time for large PDF files.
    Until the "fallen" into the Cache, 'find' later document is faster.

    With Acrobat Pro, one or more PDF documents can be transformed into an Index of catalog that supports advanced research (and a quick answer to a question).

    Furthermore, an individual PDF can be supplied with an embedded index.

    Or the other type of index can be used by Adobe Reader.

    I filled this ring with values from a file before displaying the UI. The ring shows now the first point inside, but I want to show another element of the ring.

    I couldn't find any function that defines an embedded control ring of a table index.

    How to do this?

    Sorry, now I found the solution by myself:

    It was very simple: SetTableCellVal (...) with a value that matches an existing value in the list of values of the ring.

  • Embedded video Youtube scrolls on the header.  I have seen discussions on the z-index but it doesn't seem to work when I try it.  Any ideas what the problem might be?

  • Scroll of embedded flash video pauses/chops

    I'm having a problem that started when I updated to FF13. When I scroll a current page (up or down) a video (like youtube) the integrated video becomes AX, broken, distorted, and mess with the visual appearance of the site I visit.

    If I scroll up and down a lot, I actually get to visually reproduce the site in the area where the embedded video is supposed to be. It's pretty weird.

    My video drivers have been completely updated since and has not fixed the problem.

    I tried FF in safe mode and that has not fixed the problem.

    All my add ons and plugins are completely up to date. Plugins I use are adblock and noscript (both disabled during the test and the site allowed).

    Anyone know what could be the cause of the issue since upgrade to FF13? I think it may have something to do with Flash.

    After you download Firefox 13, when I open the page index.html embeded audio does not appear on the page. However, if I go to the menu bar and click on help, Firefox Help, audio image appears and the audio works.

    Solved. The problem turns out to be conflicting plug-ins. The description can be found at [_ http://kb.mozillazine.org/Mozilla_Suite: _Issues_:_Sound] the oldest of its plug-in for Windows XP is in conflict with the new windows for Firefox plugin.

  • System repair of Windows XP Embedded without the help of his CDs?

    I use a CCTV using the Windows XP Embedded platform. Recently, due to some problems, I'm not able to boot the system and that's what suggests to repair windows using the CD because of the missing "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM" file I have lost my CD of Windows XP Embedded, but I have original Windows XP CD. Can I use the Windows XP CD and repair system?

    For this error, always start with a chkdsk/r from the XP Recovery Console.

    The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination? (This includes the plug pulling, buttons power and removing the battery).

    These can cause corruption in the file system that must be fixed before you do anything else.

    If none of these events occurred (or even if they have not taken place), you must verify the integrity of your file system before anything else (especially "try" things).

    There is zero logic to begin to try to begin to try to modify or copy files to a hard drive that has a corrupted file system, so this must first be fixed using the XP chkdsk program and run chkdsk on your hard drives may solve your problem completely.

    Use the XP Recovery Console to check the file system on your HARD drive and fix the problems and then try to start your system - this may be all you need to do.  Or, you are welcome to just start trying things that might work.

    Boot into the Recovery Console Windows using an XP bootable installation CD.

    If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and don't forget (no support for XP not necessary).

    This is not the same as recovery disks that might have come with the acquisition of the system store.

    You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

    The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

    You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

    When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

    Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

    Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

    Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

    You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

    You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

    C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

    The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

    A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

    In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

    Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

    Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

    Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

    It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

    You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

    Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

    You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.

    I created a new site where I created a version of the Tablet and a version phone... when I exported it in the HTML code... it created separate index's for the Tablet and phone version... now when I open the site on chrome... I was unable to check the version of the tablet or version phone... so I installed google chrome app known as mobile reagent tester... and when I opened the site on the tester... I have not seen the phone version... is to open the desktop version... I dunno what to do now... I have to open the index of the version phone? If Yes... How can I work combine the versions... for that my client is not facing any problem...

    I guess you used these updates by replacing, instead of (somewhat) sensitive design?

    These separate index html files are stored in special folders in the main HTML file. You can try to open them in your browser and take a look at them. But from the general index of HTML files, scripts embedded in this page are difficult to be "deceived" by referring to other index files. This passage is only 'live' on real and appropriate devices.

    I m Kalyan, new installation of the HFM product. I did a successful installation of EMP with the help of guides the user with Oracle.

    Installed on my local machine able to work on the planning / Essbase Server Admin, but not be able to log - on to the workspace and shared services on the host local link.

    Check a lot of things like the Services running properly, diagnostic report. They are all positive. With the help of IIS 7.

    I m able to see this link "* http://localhost:9000 / workspace * /", when I click on the Application to launch a white window gets Open popup and nothing is visible it says loading for a long time on this link ' * localhost:9000/workspace/index.jsp* '.

    Tried to use different browsers, but no luck. What I m missing with java or browser, or something else?

    Please help me sort, so that I can log on and proceed to the use of the application.

  • z index / layer of problems with the new YouTube widget!

    I am facing a problem with the new 'youtube' of social media widget. I currently have two layers in my projects. This is a project for which the menu scrolls initially and then sticks to the top of scrolling parallax. By continuing to scroll, the embedded YouTube video widget does not scroll under the menu as it should but scrolls through the menu. It's strange, as the YouTube widget was placed on level 1 and the menu is at level 2. Shouldn't the menu then always be on top? Only the new widget is not properly defined index-z?

    I managed to solve the problem, and I believe this to certainly be a bug in Muse...

    In order to avoid widgets Youtube iframed swim on top of all the other div tags, I had to change the code, add wmode = "transparent" and wmode = "Opaque" to the class of the iframe. This works if you replace all the other parameters behind the CBC "&" by "& amp"tag.

    Here's the original code generated by Muse. This could not prevent my "2nd layer" slip below "Layer 1".

    Makes the following changes to the code, forced the Youtube widget below all other div again (I pinned all changes to "BOLD", so you can see the changes easily):

    Ensure that you do not miss the following change: you need to change all of the vipers '&' to '& amp' this procedure will not work!

    After the new version, I'm sure the Adobe team is working hard to bust of bug last version. But I hope that we will be dismantled soon, otherwise users using the youtube widget will have to recode output Muse whenever we make a change and it is exactly what is the Muse striving to prevent (; After all, in Dreamweaver, you can hardcode the change and he would stick!

  • Image indexable vs searchable Image (exact) - quality of the OCR

    I work in the legal field and have always used the "Searchable Image (exact)" parameter when you run internal OCR on the document productions.  I am currently using Acrobat X when I do my own OCR.

    I have a seller who says they use Acrobat 9 "Searchable Image" for all productions of their document.  They say even if the actual image of the document is altered, they get better quality OCR results than they do with 'Searchable Image (exact).'  They say that the document is corrected that text can be read by the OCR engine.

    My problem is that a lot of documents is changed.  Architectural drawings in particular are dramatically tilting to the right, the edge of the drawing is being cut entirely from the document and dotted lines are added to the image itself - apparently where used to be at the edge of the page.  This is unacceptable.  They say that the entire drawing being reversed so that the first lines of the text on the drawing's horizontal.  So if there is a small piece of text that is tilted, the entire drawing is inclined to adapt to this one piece of text.

    Is it true that OCR is much better using "Searchable Image" vs "indexable Image (exact)"?  I need to select a configuration option for all the docs, and I am inclined not not change our documents in any way at the expense of the OCR.

    They also say that they have docs of OCRing evil I can't OCR without problem using Acrobat 8 and Acrobat X.  Does this make any sense?  I went directly from 8 x, so I'm not familiar with Acrobat 9.

    Once the OCR files use "Searchable Image" and SAVED, you need to go back and
    find copies of the original files pre - OCR and reOCR them by using "indexable Image (exact)"?

    If having this "faithful" to the original document is an indispensable attribute then, Yes, get you the pre - OCR had PDFs and run through the searchable Image (exact).

    Regardless of the version of Acrobat (4.x, 5.x, 6.x, 7.x, 8.x, 9.x, X or XI), the essential characteristic of the searchable Image (exact) has not changed.
    In other words, the image does not suffer the "tweaking" provided by indexable Image.

    Therefore, the PDFs by searchable Image (exact) of which version of Acrobat will be acceptable.

    What happens if you treat a PDF file containing a scanned image of text content through the searchable Image (exact)?
    The PDF wins a second 'hidden layer' of the production of the OCR. (I have it done - inquiring minds want to know, huh?) )
    Of course, using Acrobat Pro, we could eliminate an existing one 'hidden layer' OCR output.

    --| Monochrome--> select "CCIT Group 4.

    For filtering
    --| review the help of Acrobat to read the discussion on the choices that are available.
    (Deskew |) Background removal | Edge shadow removal | Clean | Descreening | Removal of Halo | Sharpening text)

    Open the help of Acrobat and go to "analyze a paper as a PDF document.
    A close reading of the information will be informative and useful.

    You want to avoid dealing with any image of the record of lossy compression (which compresses by destructive removal of pixels - so "corrupt" that "faithful").

    You want to avoid filtering which alters the image.
