Empty area in the Finder window?

When you open a new Finder window, my Mac Pro has now decided to include a large empty empty white area on the right side.

This has never happened before - just started recently.

No idea why this would happen and how to stop it?

This is the preview window. If you click on a file, it shows you a preview of the file.

To turn off, Finder-> view-> hide preview

  • Command + tab to open the Finder window does not

Sorry to post this again - the first accidentally got marked as resolved, but it is not and I still need help.

I recently installed at El Capitan on my iMac, and now, when I use the command + tab to toggle an application by opening a window of Finder, I get that the Finder menu bar. The open Finder window is located in the window menu, and I choose to see it and use it. Before the upgrade, command-tab would be near the top of the Finder window currently open and active. How do I get it to behave as it did before? I HATE having to select the window menu item! AND when I select the window from the window menu, the bar menu auto mask, that I also hate. Automatic masking occurs only in the Finder, and he is not selected in the settings of my Apple.

I think you have Finder mode full-screen. I do not use full screen at all, so I'm not really familiar with it, but what seems to work for me was to switch to Finder and select the window from the window menu, and then press ESC to exit full-screen.

  • Problem with the finder windows... Why what is happening

It started today. I don't know how to solve this problem... it seems that the overtime, I opened a window of the scrollbar are right in the Middle, I can bring it back to the right but then when I re - open the same window, it goes back to this. Is this a problem?

No, this isn't a problem, it's a preview for a Finder window pane:

If you don't want to see it: Finder > Menu bar > View > preview hide, or use: shift - command - P

NB. You can enable or disable the preview pane, to display the preview: Finder > Menu bar > display > show preview, or use: shift - command - P

  • Impossible to disable the column "Preview" in the Finder Windows

Before that I describe this problem, I just want to clarify that I have configured Finder to always open folders in a new window, and while some of my files are put into mode icon that the majority is set to display in the list.

Following an upgrade to Yosemite to El Capitan, some of my Finder list view windows began to show the column "Preview" on the side of the far right, after the date modified column. I don't like this feature because when none of the folders or items are selected it shows just a ugly "blank" space in the window. So, I quickly discovered that I can disable this "Preview" column by selecting "hide the Preview" in the view menu.

The problem is that once I chose this, in many of my files change does not stick. After a reboot or a restart, I'll go back to the window and the preview column is again. Sometimes it happens immediately after closing the window and opening it again. The worst culprit is my user folder.

I tried selecting "Hide Preview" and then enter the display options and set as the default view for all Finder Windows, but this makes no difference.

Anyone know how to disable the overview at all times column in all the windows in the Finder?

This is what it looks like in my folders set to display from the list:

  • Make the Finder Windows to reopen the reboot

Years, I enjoyed the behavior of Finder windows re-opening to restart my Mac. I have a set of windows in a layout that I like, & all stressed the work I am currently at. Since the El Capitan upgrade my Windows Finder reopen is no longer restart

I know that a lot of people hate the reopening Finder Windows, & want to kill this behavior.

I hope someone here can tell me how restore this behavior.

    Cheers & TIA, Pedro

When you turn off your computer, and you get the little message that pops up you stating the computer stops in 1 minute, make sure the box asking you if you want to all previously open windows to reopen is checked.  In this way, no matter what Finder will re-open its windows you have open when the computer stops when you start it back up again.

  • How to see the names of files in the finder window?

I have no idea how this setting has changed on me, but I can't figure out how to make it stop. Whenever I have save a file in El Capitan, the first column is at times back up, so I can't see the files that have been saved today. Then, I see the usual update, the Date added etc. I have never used this way the finder and always prefer to see the name of the file in the Finder to save the window in the first column to quickly navigate and the nested records.

Check my laptop running Yosemite, I can see this expected behavior and file/folder name is the first column of the windows backup. How can I get this feature in El Capitan?

Okay, just understand it myself. Go to this icon:

I'm used to seeing the blue Support Assistant of circular background of question mark icon located on the right side of my taskbar Windows in the notification area, just to the right of the up-carat for 'display the icons '.

    Hello

Another option, you may need to check is the following.

    Launch of HP Support Assistant.

Click the gable of parameters to the upper right.

In the following Panel, make sure the "show an icon in the taskbar" entry (see the option highlighted in the image below) is checked - if not, click in the box enter a tick, then click on the "Save" button.
