  I'm hoping to get some opinions/thoughts on some of the companies providing services for Hyperion application hosting. We are looking to move our Hyperion environment for a hosted service where someone could monitor the equipment, provide certain services for Hyperion tuning specific infrastructure and apply patches and upgrades. I know there is a service provided by Oracle and secure 24 but any other suggestions? Everyone works with a hosting company and have your comments or suggestions.

  I have work with Secure 24 - they are as good as any choice in the world of hosting.

  Realize that you usually receive material assistance and infrastructure not a turnkey service that has an application deep functional knowledge. They can all patch, monitor and protect the environment.

  Waiting for them to be expert deep request usually is wishful thinking. If it is your expectation, you should look for a hosting provider and a provider of managed services that may be of two separate companies.

  In addition, I would avoid all hosts with no dedicated/recovery infrastructure after a disaster. for example if the hosting provider relies on a cloud for example platform Amazon EC2/Rackspace so I could watch another provider. Oracle and Secure-24 have their own dedicated hardware and DR sites.

  Can any share their experience wth Hyperion Infrastructure.
  
  Which is the best (SAN, NAS, VMWARE, cloud) and why, what are the pros and cons (we are on Hyperion V11 - windows 2008).
  
  -First thing regarding the performance
  -With regard to cost
  -Material accident...
  -Disaster recovery and all the other things that makes you deal with...

  Everything you requested has different strengths and weaknesses.
  What kind of things are important to you?
  Is low-cost important?
  Is high performance important?
  High availability is important?
  You have an internal IT team that can support a complex environment?

  Depending on how you answer these kinds of questions can really prepare for this type of infrastructure to look at.

  SAN / NAS - may be good for the integrity of the data but not so great for the performance. For pure performance look at PCI DSS solutions for example IO Fusion and the new Intel card.
  Cloud - cloud would not recommend at this time for a production application. For Amazon, specifically, you can see their 1-2 days downtime that happened every year for the past two years. Oracle is still refining their cloud solution.
  Hosted Hyperion - if you do not have a strong internal IT team then certainly look for example hosted solutions Oracle-On-Demand, Secure 24...
  Virtualization - Performance optimal as many hearts as you can afford – 64-bit 11.1.2.2 Essbase can support up to 128 cores in a calculation - this means that if you have lots of users and lots of complexity, you cannot evolve with virtualization. Generally, you are limited to 32 cores with the best virtual classroom platforms.

• Cannot connect to the database Oracle Hyperion EPM 11.1.2

  I'm deployment Hyperion EPM 11.1.2 on a single machine with Windows 2008 R2 x 64. I created an Oracle database, and I can connect to it through SQL, so everything looks ok here. I also installed the Oracle Client for Win x 64 and ODP on my machine. The installation of Hyperion EPM also completed successfully, and then I went to set it up. I have entered the database connection information:
  
  Driver database: Oracle (thin)
  Server: the IP address of the machine >
  Port: 1521
  The service name or SID: < my Oracle database name >
  Username: Oracle user with the role of s/n >
  Password: < password of the Oracle user >
  
  And then I click on 'Next' and I get the error message: + "" i/o error: the network adapter could not establish the connection "+"
  
  I would point out that I also had a problem connecting to the Oracle SQL Plus error first database: "ORA - 12560:TNS:protocol adapter error. But after the creation of the ORACLE_SID environment variable by assigning the name of the database, this error disappeared.
  
  Please help with any advice on what could be bad! Thank you!

  If you use 'localhost' or 127.0.0.1 during the configuration of the database not the real IP address

• ODI - SQL for Hyperion Essbase data loading

  We have created a 'vision' in SQL Server that contains our data.  The view currently has every year and periods of Jan 2011 to present.  Each period is about 300 000 records.  I want to only load one period at a time.  For example may 2013.  Currently we use ODBC through a rule of data loading, but the customer wants to use ODI to be compatible with the versions of dimension metadata.  Here's the SQL on the view that works very well.   Is there a way I can run this SQL in the ODI Interface so it pulls only what I declare in the Where clause?  If yes where can I do it?

  Simply use the following KM to load data - IKM SQL for Hyperion Essbase (DATA) - in an ODI interface that has the view that you created the Source model. You can add filters to the source which are dynamically by ODI variables to create the Where clause based on the month and year. Make sure you only specify a rule of load method to load the data into the KM

• Unable to services start Hyperion EPM architect

  I was facing problems with FDM access web application. The Desc of error is "an exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please contact the administrator to review the trace of stac in the event log for more information about the error. »
  
  So we tried shutdown / restarted the Hyperion Services in Server Prod FDM. But we are not able to start the services below after discontinuation of the services.
  
  Hyperion EPM architect - Web Application
  Hyperion EPM architect - process manager
  Hyperion EPM architect - Job Manager
  Hyperion EPM architect - Manager of the event
  Hyperion EPM architect - Manager of engine
  Hyperion EPM architect - NYI Bridge .net
  
  In addition, we restarted the server. But these services are not upward after the reboot. Please could you help with this problem.

  Thanks John. I am using Oracle's Support team to solve the problem. It is a common problem with the 11.1.1.3 version, services take a few time and sometimes start once before the other so the question. The problem is resolved after you restart services manually in the order.

  I'm Hyperion EPM 11.1.2.1.0 on Windows Server 2008 x 64 deployment.
  I have done all the prerequisites for the deployment and downloaded all the required files delivery.
  However when I run the Setup, I get the message that the Assembly StaticContent is missing. I saw in the installation guide that this Assembly is in Oracle Hyperion Enterprise
  File Performance Management System Release contained additional 11.1.2.1.0 but I can't find this OTN file, nor on delivery!
  
  So, I'll be very grateful if you can give me information on where I can find this file.

• Installing Hyperion EPM - EPMCSS-00301: user error authentication failure

  Hi, I am trying to install the Hyperion EPM system for evaluation.
  
  I downloaded all the relevant files of the delivery of Oracle for HPCM site. The details of the system are:
  MS Windows 2003 Server SP2
  Oracle Weblogic Server
  Oracle Database 11g
  Internet Explorer 7.0 browser
  
  I installed using the Oracle DB, EMP components and configured all the elements using the EMP system configurator. Everything went through fine.
  
  I have connected the database (verified by loggine in plu SQL), the listener is started, the weblogic server is (able to open the administration console), web server is started (Oracle HTTP - OHS component), and all related services are started (administrative tools). The IIS 6.0 is also enabled and works.
  
  I am using the http://servername:19000/workspace/index.jsp url and could see the home page.
  
  When I tried to connect using the user name epm_admin and the password, I get the below error:
  
  «EPMCSS-00301: unable to authenticate the user.» Invalid credentials. Enter valid credentials. URI: http://servername:19000 / work/login area
  Code: 1000
  Description: an error occurred the result from the process server. »
  
  
  Could you get it someone please let me know what could be the problem?
  I had the same problem before and that I reinstalled the entire application again. Yet, it is not resolved.
  I don't have a system administrative skills. So, if you want me to post an error log, please let me know the name and the exact path!

  epm_admin is the default for the logic of the web administrator account not EMP.

• Not able to start my Hyperion EPM architect-Process Manager it is very urgent

  I have correctly installed, configured Essbase & planning 11.1.1.3 howerver, every time I try to start hyperion EPM architect - process of eating its gives me an error like "the architect Hyperion EPM - Process Manager service on local computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do, for example, newspaper service and performance alerts. Note: I installed the essbase and planning in the E: drive. I installed the software in windows xp (Service pack 2)
  
  
  
  I have recongifured EPMA several times but the same error.
  
  When I try to login directly in EPMA (http://localhost:19091/awb) its throwing me an error when loading the awb.appcontainer module has failed.

• Vision Builder for Automated Inspection Development Toolkit missing / cannot install in 2012

  I try to install the VBAI SDK.  I have licenses and have installed:

  OR LabVIEW 2012 Professional Version

  Toolkit OR Vision

  OR in real time

  I find not all options in 2012 LabVIEW for the VBAI dev kit so I tried to run the install and it says:

  "The Vision Builder for Automated Inspection Development Toolkit requires LabVIEW 2011 be installed, please install LabVIEW 2011..."

  Why can I install it on LabVIEW 2012?  2012 is out for 1 year... How VBAI does not support LV 2012?

  Should I install Labview 2011 to make this work?  I don't have the DVD for 2011 so it will be a royal PITA to install.

  VBAI 2012 is a LabVIEW application that was built with and require runtime LabVIEW 2011.

  The VBAI SDK, just like the run LabVIEW stage, require the same version of LabVIEW VBAI was built with.

  We could technically remove this limitation under Windows, which would have implications serious performance the performance of the custom steps, but many customers who design custom steps also want to do on targets from a distance (for example smart cameras, EVS or CVS). Currently, it is not possible to support several facilities next to LabVIEW on real-time targets. For this reason, we have decided to only support that has the version of LabVIEW VBAI.

  Please contact your sales representative OR to get a copy of LabVIEW 2011 you need for the SDK.

  The next version of the VBAI (2013), support 2012 LabVIEW for the SDK and run LabVIEW steps.

  Currently, we are debating on the following points, so need for expert advice, if someone have already done this.

  • As all our previous implementation are on 11.1.2.3 500 and we know with certainty, it is stable
  • 11.1.2.4 is fairly new in the market

  That said y at - he already put 11.1.2.4 implemented for the PPP in particular, if yes how is the stability. As we have hard time have no place for the bugs that deals.

  I don't think that 11.1.2.3.500 for planning is massively different the 11.1.2.4 so for stability, they should be similar, the improvements are mainly around the simplified interface.

  I would recommend going with 11.1.2.4, he is already on his third patch for the planning so I hope that all important questions will have been met, if there is a concern, then perhaps you should look at POC.
