  Dell certifies OpenStack w/Equallogic.   This is the underlying software as Cinder, who does the work with storage arrays.  The driver uses the orders of EQL group CLI, the syntax has not changed, except for the new features.

  Hi guys, I got a big problem here in my room. My equallogic iscsi interfaces have a lot of erros. What can be?

  

  First of all, make sure you run the latest version of FW and SANHQ table.

  Packet errors are often the cause of bad cable, bad switch ports and a misconfiguration on switch iSCSI ports.   The only way to erase the mistakes of packages on Equallogic arrays must restart the table.

  • Replacement cable between the controller port and switch port with known good cable.

  • 10 GB cables must be SFF-8472 compliant to work with 10 GB Equallogic arrays.

  • Confirm that the switch is a minimum firmware to work with Berry Equallogic en.community.dell.com/.../2661.equallogic-compatibility-matrix

  (Note: if unable to switch, you can disable protocols spanning tree on ports connect to the table).

  • Use the tech TR1017 report to verify the configuration of the switch and confirm it meets best practices.

  • Run a show of support on the switches to review port errors.   If a Powerconnect or Force10 switch then engage networks dell help examine the switch logs. If another provider, and then engage the seller to switch to help examine the switch logs.

• MD3200i iSCSI config question

  Hi all

  I have a MD3200i with dual raid and 2 hosts modules, I want to reach the maximum connection speed that I can with the 8 x 1 GB on the MD3200i iSCSI ports.

  If both of my hosts were to have each 8 NETWORK ports, with the switches between the two could I theoreticly reach 2 x 4 GB links to each host the MD3200i? (1 x 4 GB using MPIO to each raid by host controller module)

  If the module port 0 raid 0 controller IP 192.168.130.101, can serve 2 Server separated from different hosts with IP 192.168.130.103 and 192.168.130.104?

  You can have up to a 4Gbit "pipe" to a single controller with the right settings. You'll want to use 4 subnets for sure and definitely use decent to good (dedicated) switches for iSCSI.

• Equallogic and VSphere VVOL 6

  I've been hitting my head against the wall trying to get VVOL established in my test environment. The configuration is as follows, 3 guests, two with HBA iSCSI broadcoms and a software iSCSI adapter. The SAN is a mixed group, a Dell 6100 w SSD and a 4100 rotating disc. I have the Dell VSM loaded and configured, I built a container of storage on the EQL and I can configure the access rules for the hosts. I also added the EQL as a provider of VASA.

  6.0, 6.0, EQL 8.0.4, VSM 4.5.1.700 vCenter vSphere hosts

  For clarity, we will call the HBA1 and HBA2 and SOFT1 hosts

  Protocol endpoints appear in storage on all three hosts, but the only machine that can see the EP and access them is SOFT1 host. Its also the only one able to mount the VVOL. If I ride via SOFT1 and choose "mount this store of data on additional hosts" the process terminates without error, but on HBA1 and HBA2. the VVOL is accessible.

  As this seems to be related to two HBAs that I suggest to check that your HBA firmware version has support for secondary LUN ID as required for storage of blocks back VVols.

  To do this, go to the page-> VMware Compatibility Guide: search for i/o device

  In the guise of the selection criteria to ensure that you select "secondary MONDAY (active VVols).

  Click on the button "update and display the results.

  The results will be the devices list to i/o that are certified and support the secondary ID of the LUN. Once you have found (hopefully) your model, click the model name to see details. From the details page, you will see a lot of firmware versions in the last column, there will be an entry for additional functionality, you can expand it against a firmware version to determine whether or not a specific version supports secondary LUN ID.

• ESXi 6.0 challenges iSCSI Equallogic PS 6100

  I installed my Windows of 5.5 to 6.0 vCenter vCenter server.  At the same time, I wiped one of my Dell R710s 3 (3 years) to get a new installation, since it has been upgraded since ESXi 5.0.  I started with the Dell ESXi 6 disc.  Installation was smooth.  After you configure the host to match the configuration of my other two guests of ESXi 5.5, I couldn't have my Equallogic LUN to display.  Other LUN iSCSI (Drobo for backup, Openfiler to test) had no problem.  Only Equallogic and Nexenta.  The two without complain "Access denied" when the ESXi 6.0 Server tries to discover the San.

  By looking farther, two things have changed in ESXi 6 at face value: 1., My Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5709 iSCSi cards are now registered as QLogic.  2. my software VMware iSCSI adapt now has a new name of the initiator.

  My Equallogic SAN running firmware 7.x.  To see if the pilot makes all the difference, I wiped the ESXi host once again and installed the version of VMware instead of Dells.  Now, my iSCSI network cards are a little different... ranked QLogic NetXtreme II.  Still, no luck on the SAN and errors on the persistence without 'access denied, or not allowed.

  I made sure I don't use CHAP or and ACL.  While the static tab to the Nexenta works (which means that he discovers all IQN) Lun never appear.  With the Equallogic, no IQN is discovered.

  I wanted to make this post to see if we can get this figured out and maybe after some good info if we get a resolution.  However, I don't have weeks to experiment, because I have to go back to vCenter 5.5 and recover the ESXi host.  Any help and suggestions would be appreciated!

  So, confused about the ASR for the Equallogic.  On the VMware website, it lists a DSM for Equallogic be used with 4 SRM.  But, the SRA is the old 1.0.1 version which has been used with 1 SRM.  Dell does not list an ASR on their site.  When I talk to Dell, they say they have not released a SRA yet, that there is a bug with RS 4 and they are waiting to be fixed.  Is - anyone tried the SRA with SRM 4 1.0.1 then it works?  Thank you

  You can use SRA 1.01 with SRM 4.0

  The current installation of SRA requires the installer to run in compatibility mode (for my installation vcenter on windows 2008)

  I see quite a few new features on the market with Thunderbolt 3. According to the FAQ of TB3 Intel, TB1 and TB2 was designed with future upgrades in mind. This means that you can connect, once a solution is available, on a host of TB2 TB3 system using compatibility mode. It will only work to 20Gbps TB2, but work remains. The same is true of peripheral TB2 TB3 host computer (will work but at slower speed)

  This would be similar to the connection of a USB 3 device on a USB 2 or 1 USB host but only get speeds over slow or vice versa.

  
  

  The question I have is that if someone came out with these fittings/adapters? What I've seen online seems to go using a device of TB2 and TB3 host and each of these adapters is Windows only. I have spent too many hours searching so I'm curious to know if someone has yet to fall on an adapter or converter that connect DisplayPort TB2 host and have the device USB-C/TB3 (USB - C not only) in compatibility mode.

  The reason? Peripheral TB3 are already less expensive than TB2 devices. I don't know who will get the most expensive.   You're not talking Apple here.  It is a moderated forum for Apple to discuss features and troubleshooting. Apple-> system-> software update Preferences menu contains options to disable automatic downloads, although the Mac App Store update itself for Snow Leopard activates the automatic notifications of updates.  While a nuisance, you have just to tell more later, only choose to update once you have read the documentation to verify that its good operation with what you have.  Always back up your data before allowing updates.

  I have my macbook set to do automatic updates. I see a light red on the App Store, which shows an updated - and when I check it said provision, "Digital Raw Compatibility Update, version 6.20. I scroll down and see that it has installed this update even at least 10 times start on 13 August through 24 August! Even updated, same version and I think it's a corrupted file or virus! Help, I want to stop saying that I need to update!
