Equium A110-233 - I need to manually select the boot device menu

In the last few days when I turn on my laptop Toshiba screen appears but I need to go and select the device to boot to start windows manually.

(Down to the bottom of the message "press F2 for set up. Menu of device selection entering boot')
Why is - this started and what can I do to get it to access directly to Windows XP as before?

After turning on your laptop, please use the F12 button and you will be able to select the first boot device.

    Hello @zoboomafoo,

Thank you for all the information!

What have been the results of physical tests?  If all the past, then it seems that you encounter problems with the operating system.  If the problem is actually related to the operating system, then by reinstalling Windows will help you solve it.  This should help to address issues with malware.  Upgrade to Windows 10 is an option, however, you don't have full support of drivers.  I hope this helps.

  • NB500-108 does not automatically select the boot device

    Hello

When I start the computer (NB500-108), it gets as far as the "Toshiba Leading Innovation" screen and stops. It will allow me to select F2 and F12, but I have to do it EVERY time I start the computer. It seems that it will automatically select the HDD/SSD drive and I can't find in the start menu anyway to fix this problem.

I tried running repair of the boot from the Windows 7 repair disc and even if it is said that there is no problem, I would consider it a problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

I have same NB520 and I ve never done in this situation.
Try it please to the value of the default BIOS and check if the problem persists.

  • Equium A110-233 has stopped working because of the spilled liquid

I need some advice of what can be done with my problem. I bought a new laptop Toshiba model as in the subject, and the laptop is no longer.

I went to the service provider authorized to claim my warranty. The people there took my laptop and after two weeks they told me that the laptop has been reversed with little liquid and warranty is denied. I was very very surprised by this statement, so I went to another service provider to see what they say.

Unfortunately, the result was very similar. Are you aware of any possibility where can I study/explain it's deeper?
What happened to my laptop, with what he has been overthrown, when and if it is true?

    Hello

This is not good. Liquids dumped are almost deadly for laptops. As a first step, you should study if someone else, then you have used the machine. If so, then take that person and throw 'em down the River, because ZERO except will pay for this disaster. For further investigation, you should contact toshiba directly and perhaps check-out if the machine can be saved. But if your machine was really two ASP´s then you are out of luck because they are very precisely with their diagnosis.
If I were you I would rather study if someone close to you is responsible for this "dumping down"...

    Welcome them

  • Passport for blackBerry cannot manually select the network

I bought a SIM free Blackberry passport from Amazon, but when I inserted my SIM O2 Ireland I did not have the option to manually select the network. When I start the phone without a sim card, it confirms that it is open to all networks. However, a few settings in the phone puts a restriction on manually select the network when I put in the O2 sim card. I have trouble to get this issue resolved. Nobody takes responsibiltiy for the question, I suspect it's a fault of Blackberry by which there is a problem with the software, but it is very difficult to solve. My phone is great, but I need to fix this to use it.

It does not matter "whose is the device". It is controlled by the sim card. Even if O2 has sold the unit, he would have this same setting.

I'm frustrated that the new laptop played if bad, given that I have had Toshiba devices for about 10 years.
In addition, I am disappointed that potentially serious consequences to remove the drive were clearly deprecated for me, before you start.

I seem to have accidentally deleted the data on the disk.

Obviously the HARD drive recovery procedure is not possible now because the HARD drive recovery files have been deleted.

I guess you have not created such recovery media as recommended in the user's manual.

Well, in this case, you have a chance to order a missing middle of recovery and recover the laptop to factory condition.

Means of recovery can be ordered here:

  • Satellite C660: message: reboots and select good boot device

    Hello

I dropped the laptop today literally a few inches from the ground, it slipped from my hand as I was placing it on the ground. He fell flat.

Now I see the message "reboot and select proper boot device."

I tried a few different options that I read, and I see the HARD drive in the BIOS F2 thing or whatever it is called. If it is recognized, but I can't seem to move in the message. Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

PS I will need clear instructions, I'm not stupid, but I need to explain. I don't understand some of the pieces.

    Thank you

    Hello

I think that your HARD drive is bad.
I think that you have not checked it correctly in the BIOS.

Please go to BIOS once more, by pressing F2.
Now on the first page, you will see date, time, details of CD/DVD drive and you should also see the details of the disk (size, name)
    You see that?

Otherwise, the HARD disk is not initialized by the BIOS and this means that, because of the fall, the HARD disk has been damaged.

  • Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key

I have an Asus UX31 of Zenbook ultrabook. It is running Windows 8, I installed it via download, is not a physical disk.

Recently, I ran Windows Update and he knew as usual, until the time of reset. It restarts, showed on the screen "install updates", but then finally started only the following error message:

"Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key.

As mentioned, I don't have a disc, my ultrabook is not a hard drive. Internal storage only that there is a 128 GB SSD. I went into the bios and check the boot settings and the SSD is correctly listed as the only option to start.

I can only assume some question that's happened with the update of windows. I'm not sure of how to proceed now? ATM, I only have a weight £1000 :/

    Hello r,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

By the description of the problem, I understand that you have problems starting from the computer to the desktop screen, it gives the above error message.

I imagine how it could be frustrating when things do not work as expected. I appreciate your efforts to solve this problem.

As this problem occurred after installing Windows Update, this could be the reason for the incompatible driver installed with the Windows updates.

As you have already checked the settings for starting a disc SSD set correctly, I suggest you disconnect all the external device and restart the computer, check if are able to boot to the desktop screen.

We will try the following methods and check if it helps.

Method 1: I suggest you create USB recovery media as your laptop doesn't have the DVD Rom.

If you're having problems with your PC, a recovery USB disk can help you troubleshoot and fix these problems, even if your PC does not start.

Create an installation media for Windows 8.1
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media

Method 2: Once you create USB recovery media, auto repair:

Follow the steps below to perform an automatic repair:

1 restart the computer, wait for the logo of the manufacturer to check the option of start menu, it will usually F12.
    2. the start menu key can be different with each manufacturer. If you are unable to find the start menu button, you can consult the user manual.
    3. restart the computer, when appears the logo of the manufacturer, continue to press the Boot option menu key to enter the boot menu and change the option to boot in DVD ROM.
    4. Once you start your computer by using Windows 8 DVD or system repair disc, a black screen appears with the gray text "press any key to boot from CD or DVD". Press a button on any.
    5. Select the exact time and the type of keyboard.
    6. click on repair your computer in the lower left corner.
    7. click on troubleshooting, advanced option and then click on auto repair.

Hope this helps, please reply with the status of the question to get help.
