Equium A80: Question of replacement DVD/Cd player

Hi, I own an A80 with a Cd/DVD burner. I would like to upgrade to a dvd burner, is it possible, is it easy to change and finally is - anyone know the correct model number.

Thank you

Hello

Disc replacement is very easy. As far as I know, the reader is fixed with two screws. You will find at the bottom of the unit.
However, if you want to replace the disc you must check if supports the right settings (master/slave/c-salt)
Unfortunately, I put t found a compatible, but you can ask the after-sales Service of Toshiba partner for the supported drive. There, you can order the CD. It can also give you some advice how to change the disc.

You can replace it with any player, only with a compatible. I have no time to search the list for you and you can do it alone. Check it please s manuals for your model of laptop. Usually, at the beginning, you find a part on information in optical disc players. Should there have listed all the compatible optical disk drives.

The portable internal conduit don t support no rider like external drives for desktop PC as well as the settings are fixed and to my knowledge no editable
I found a few compatible disk numbers, but unfortunately, I have not found the names of readers.
It seems that these are the internal reference numbers.

  • Equium A60: Question about Upgrade DVD - RW

    Hello
Can anyone recommend a dvd r/w upgrade, internal or external, so that I can copy DVDs. If I go for the internal upgrade, it is easy to install?

    Thank you very much

    Simon

    Hi Simon
External drives are a little cheaper than the slim laptop drives.
In addition, you need to know that not every reader of the laptop can be used in your laptop because master\slave\c-salt settings. These settings cannot be changed, as on an external drive by changing the position of the rider.
But external drives are not very mobile and so many people don t like to use these external drives. But in my opinion it is not very important, because if I want to burn media I do at home.

However, in the user manual, you should find compatible readers FRO your unit.
My user manual contains such information.

Then take a look in this document or ask the service provider in your country assistance. Here, you can order this disc.

  • Equium A80 - BIOS does not detect new CD/DVD drive

    Hello

I had to change a DVD player in my laptop Equium A80 earlier and now have problems using the restore DVD to my laptop to factory settings. I updated the BIOS with the latest version available, but the BIOS is still not able to see the DVD player, so does not start a restore. The DVD is fine once Windows has loaded and works very well on another PC under BIOS. I tried another DVD drive on the laptop, but he is unable to see anyone.

Anyone have any ideas on what I can try?

    Thank you!

    Hi mate,

First of all the CD/DVD drive must be recognized in the BIOS that you can boot from the CD/DVD drive. Otherwise it of not possible to boot from the Toshiba recovery disc.

What is the type of the old/new CD/DVD drive?

The user manual contains a list of compatible drives. It appears here? The fact is that not all drives are compatible with all laptops.

  • Equium A60 will not burn DVD - Mat * a replacement UJ-820 s?

    Hello

My toshiba equium a60 will no more DVD burn.
Can anyone help? Or I need a replacement dvd writer? Cheers ron

    > I need a replacement dvd burner
It possible s that CD/DVD drive failure and that only the new would be useful.

But first, you should try some common solution opportunities.

-Try using different media DVD because not all CD/DVD are compatible!
-Try to burn the DVD with another burning software (for example Nero Burning ROM)
-Remove the drive from Device Manager CD/DVD and restart the laptop. After restarting again the OS should install the drive again.
-Remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

If all of the procedures of this will be not useful so the replacement drive would probably be necessary.

  • Satellite A80-131: what CD/DVD player is compatible

    Hello

I need to buy a new DVD - ROM drive because my old is bad!
    I have a toshiba Satellite A80-131 with mati dvd - rom * a UJ - 831S.
I would buy another drive: toshiba, samsung, pioneer the suport of mati because * a (panasonic) is not very good. But what model is compatible with the old drive UJ - 831S?
Support does not provide this information to me.

I have a toshiba HD MK4025-GAS and I want to do an upgrade, but the
    model PA3406U - 1 HA 0 (100 GB 5400 MHz) is very expensive.
    Model MK is cheap.
But that model MK I buy with 100 or 120 GB?

    HI Ronai,

Any optical drive slim form factor fits physically to your laptop, but you'll hjave to make sure that you get with the correct connectivity. It will be either master or slave (and sometimes C/salt). This setting is normally carried out by the manufactrer reader and it is not easy to change later unlike the larger disks used in PC where you can return some small switches to change the setting.

To be sure, you can ask your local authorized Toshiba Service partner which models are fully compatible.

In regards to your hard drive, you can choose any hard drive manufacturer (the MK designation indicates a Toshiba drive) but I don't know if 100 GB is greater that the BIOS will allow you. I know that 80 GB working fine (I use a Fujitsu 80 GB HDD in my SA30) but I've never tried a higher capacity drive.

You may also like to consider a faster rotation speed. GAS from Toshiba records with the suffix are usually 4200 RPM, while those with a GAX suffix are quicker to 5400 RPM. MK8025-GAX is a good option.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite S1900-303 needs new DVD/CD player

The DVD/CD on my Satellite S1900-303 drive needs to be replaced (not surprising given the age of the laptop!) It was purchased in January 2003 and is still going strong

I would like to replace the old disk with a DVD R/W drive. Can anyone suggest a compatible replacement unit and where can I buy a home?

The mounting is a replacement DVD R/W drive something I can do myself (I'm an electrician by profession engineer)

The operating system is XP SP3. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Please refer to the manuals of s use and you will find the list of all compatible optical disc drives that can be used with this old notebook.
Where to buy? For me, it's a question completely unnecessary because we don t know where do you live and if I find a drive to the Japan I m wondering if this info will help you.

Use Google for your country, put the ODD model number and see if you can find a store online in your country where you can order.

I would highly recommend you to check eBay. You will find many parts Toshiba and such ODD, you can get for less money. I mean why spend a lot of money for new ODD if you can use the one used.
Satellite 1900 is very old model of laptop, and I think that you should not spend a lot of money.

  • Equium recognizes no more CD/DVD drive.

I tried watching a DVD last night on my laptop Equium but found that the DVD is not as Autostart before.
When I went to "my computer" to open from there, the dvd player was not there.

I tried many cd and DVD in the drive, but still nothing. Even when there is nothing in the drive, it still does not appear in 'my computer '. The last time I looked or whatever it be played on it was 2 weeks ago, so am not sure when this problem started.

Is there a driver I can install to restore my dvd/cd drive?
    Thank you.

Yes, it would be really interesting that you´ve of application installed recently. Most CD writing programs can also cause the phenomenon of 'lost reader', but I think these Microsoft the previous user link should help.

Otherwise, a resumption of your machine would be essential.

    Welcome them

Recently, I put a DVD disc into the drive. You can not even here it spining. No AutoPlay starts, none Open box, nothing at ALL. The computer doesn't even recognize that there is a DVD in there.

So, I advanced and found in the Device Manager. The picture showed it was a disc with a CD on top (representing is a DVD/CD player) and in front of it, there was a «!» So I opened the information for it. Here's what he said:

"This device cannot start. (Code 10) »

  • Satellite L300-H02: DVD/CD player don't work no-error message 39

    Hi all

I just bought a Toshiba laptop, Vista Premium Edition family and after a massive Windows Update to download, DVD-CD player didn't work. Error message 39, driver damaged or missing. The driver isn't missing, so it must be corrupted. Am savvy with regedit on the dismantling of upper and lower filters in the registry, except haven action t deleting again, because he doesn t seem to be a upper filter listed. Only the lower filter.

The information also indicates that you may lose functionality in certain programs such as CD recording programs. In this scenario, you must reinstall the affected programs. which is a problem, because Vista etc. has already been loaded and any other software provided with the laptop.

I have a little chicken to go ahead and remove the lower filter registry entry, not because there are no upper entry to remove, I have heard some people cannot write to CD after removing the filters in the registry of m.
