You must not have two identical RAM module. You can mix. I recommend you put slot A and smaller cotyledon in slot B.

  • Equium L20: line white single fom top to the bottom of the screen

    Hello

Any ideas, my Equium L20 put this morning has a fine line on the TFT
    visible all the time.
It connects the top of the screen down.

Anyone seen this before, tried a reboot but no difference.
Is this a problem of monitor / probem graphics or something else.

The screen is visible, but the line is boring!

    I hope you can help...

    Hello

To get the right diagnosis, you must connect the external monitor to the laptop.
If the thin white line appears on the external monitor, the chances are great that the graphics card is malfunctioning.

However, you will need assistance from the service guy.
Contact the responsible service provider in your country and ask for later handling.

    Good luck

  • Equium L20 - memory does not display correctly?

Hi I just bought an Equium L20. First time I had a Laptop. In the card it says 256 MB memory. But when I checked the system it says I have 192 MB. Where's the other the 64 MB? Or am I just drive I thought.

    [Edited by: admin November 13 05 13:03]

    Hello

you really have to 256 MB of memory. But for the moment, your laptop uses only 192 MB, because the other 64 MB are used as additional video memory to the graphics card.

By the way, you should be thinking of an upgrade of memory, 256MB is not so.

  • Upgrade Equium L20-198

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and I have a question please.

I have a laptop Equium L20 - 198 people aged but very useful, which becomes very, very slow. I think to double the RAM to 512 MB and installation of a drive Flash (SSD). Did anyone done this before? No idea if there is a compatible SSD available and where I could buy one?

    Thanks in advance.

I don't have this model of laptop old but RAM upgrade is not a big deal. You can put an another 512 MB of RAM. Compatible RAM has PA3412U - 1 M 51 part number.

In General, you can put 1 GB of RAM, because you can improve up to 2 GB of RAM. Unfortunately I do not know which RAM is compatible. It must be DDR2 400/533 MHz RAM.

I have found no info on HARD drive upgrade. Is original HDD SATA or IDE?

  • Upgrade memory on Equium L20

I received an Equium L20 as a gift last year. About a month after getting it going, it was very, very slow. It turns out it was sold to me with only 256Meg RAM - not even enough for XP run!

I am based in the States now and sent THREE different updates by a 'good reputation on the line memorystore"which none have set up properly...

L20 forum claims that I need:

    PC-4200 DDR2 - 533 SO DIMM

Is this correct? I'm sure that the existing memory reads PC2700...

The problem seems to be that although the memory card aligns OK, the side grooves on each side that hold in place do not line up with the arm in the memory slot.

Can anyone help? Please, I beg you!

    Thank you

    Dave

    Hello

According to the specification you can upgrade with 2 GB RAM max. A slot is empty and then you can put the extra RAM module. Maybe the best solution is to put module with more capacity in the slot A and 256 MB of RAM in slot B. Compatible modules are:
    DDR2 400/533 256 MB (PA3389U - 1 M 25)
    512 MB DDR2-400/533 (PA3412U - 1 M 51)

  • Equium L20 - 198 expand the RAM

Equium L20 daughter - 198 has the factory supplied 512 MB RAM installed 2rx16 PC2. I want to expand the memory to see if it improves performance with programs like MSN which seem to be grinding to a halt and freeze enough frequently. After looking on the Toshiba site for compatible memory, I couldn't find - is there any compatible RAM available? If so who?

    Thank you

    Hello

Your laptop can handle with 2 GB of RAM max.
If you want to add 512 MB RAM compatible a part PA3412U - 1 M 51 number module. With 1 GB of RAM of your Satellite will work perfectly.

You want to use more than 1 GB of RAM?

  • Equium L20-264 - CPU upgrade

    Hello world

I have Toshiba Equium L20-264 and I want to move into gear
    Can someone help me please?

I had already upgraded to 2 GB of Ram, but my CPU is still 1.4 GHz.

Please guide me what to do and if it supports several Ghz processor, which will be the best place to buy.

    Thank you.

I assume that you have not read all the posts here in the forum about upgrading the CPU s for laptop?
    Did you?

    Some facts first:
Update CPU is very delicate and depends on the chipset and BIOS support.
In case one of the parties (chipset or bios) would not support new CPU, the will to power laptop on.

Second: the laptop seems to be equipped with an Intel Celeron - M CPU, and I suppose the other Intel Celeron-M CPU be compatible:
    Intel Celeron M 370 (1.5 Ghz)
    Intel Celeron M 380 (1.6 Ghz)

Everything supports the FSB 400 Mhz

But guess what? Even if you add the new processor at 1.6 Ghz, the performance gain will be not noticeable. So in my eyes, CPU upgrade for this old book is useless. It won't add any performance benefits.

  • Equium L20 - cannot start Windows mode of

    Hello

I was wondering if you can help me. I have an Equium L20 - 197, windows xp home edition. (Also technically challenged!  :)) When I booted my computer laptop first time today, I received this message-

«We are sorry for the inconvenience, but windows did not start successfully upward...» »
and he gave me a few methods of commissioning:
    Safe mode
    Safe mode with networking
    Safe mode with command prompt
Last good Configuration know (your most recent settings that worked)
    and
    Start Windows normally

I was able to start press start windows normally and start the computer very well. I turned off the computer OK, then it was restarted later without any problems. I then restored in a frame earlier that the system did not work well. Restore seemed to go OK but then my computer froze, then were shut down by pressing the power button.

However, the laptop will now not reboot. Just as I think it starts it goes to the error message and none of the options will work to start the computer, and I am now stuck on an endless loop of the above message.

I don't want to use the product recovery disc, that he will wipe away all of the hard drive and I have the info I need access to! I have a recovery CD product for a Fujitsu which has windows xp edition family sp 1 on him. Is it possible that I can use this to start my computer or is there something else I need to do? I thought after pressing F12 and if it is possible to use the other drive Fujitsu to launch boot my system but do not know if this is possible. I don't have an xp disk from toshiba installation disc, when I bought the computer. :(

I learned by a guy from the computer to the phone that sounds as if I need a new hard drive but would like to explore other methods before you go this route.

Thank you very much in advance for any help you can give me. Susi

    Hi SusiB_1,

Unfortunately, if you can start Windows t in any of these modes you have only one option and that is reinstall Windows. I mean you should do? You can do anything in this case

As you wrote wipes disc, the whole HARD disc Toshiba Recovery and that's right because it of needed to recover to factory settings. But normally you should have a backup of your data or not?
If this isn't the case, you can access the data, if you put the HARD drive into an external HARD drive enclosure. From another computer, you now have access to these data.

By the way: for Toshiba recovery disc you n t need a product key. Everything is already done in the recovery image and no activation is necessary. :)

  • Equium L20 does not load Windows

Had problems with Equium L20-198 my daughter - it starts in the screen with the safe mode/start windows normally, then if I press on enter the windows XP splash screen appears for a few seconds then flashes quickly on a clear blue screen with the text that I can't read because it then goes off - starts again on its own and is constantly going through the same things.

We have a recovery disk, but using it would erase all the files?

Yes, recovery disk would erase OS preinstalled but probably offer you the opportunity to have own OS preinstalled, which should work fine.

I didn't understand one thing: you can start Windows XP Home edition in safe mode?

  • Equium L20-198: error 0271 check date and time settings.

My apologies if this appears twice, I tried to change and I somehow lost my thread.

    Hi people.

For awhile, I had problems with my laptop. Toshiba Equium L20-198.

If I unplug the network at any time, when I re - connect and start the computer, I get two warnings.

Date and time settings error 0271 check.

WARNING 0251 system cmos checksum bad default configuration used

About 6 months ago we replaced the CMOS battery, while we struggled to find a brand new ML1220EI2 Nickel hydrogen 3V 14mAh, we had to go for a "used" quality one.

The problem persists and I now also get this message every time that I reboot rather put into hibernation.

Yes, the computer is a little more than 5 years and hit a little, but it is absolutely perfect in all other ways - with one exception - the main battery is completely dead. If the network becomes disconnected, I make you stop in about 3 minutes. :(

Is it possible that the CMOS battery charge the main battery and this is my problem? I did a little research on Google and found a similar question and an answer on a Dell forum where someone has stated that the CMOS takes his food on the main battery. Would this be the case with my Equium and could buy a new battery solve my problem? I obvioiusly don't want to spend £30 + for it will not help, any response would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    > Is it possible that the CMOS battery charge the main battery and this is my problem?
Well, the CMOS battery can be charged with AC adapter but the laptop must be turned on for about 18 to 20 hours.
It s not I known if battery CMOS takes the power of the main battery
Usually the CMOS battery should always charge in work and when the laptop is plugged in
So, theoretically the main battery has no influence on the CMOS battery.

I think it might be a mobo problem, I think this could be a reason for it

By the way; in most cases the CMOS battery is not removable... so I wonder how did you repalce this CMOS battery...

  • Upgrade memory for Equium L20-264

    Hello

I have an Equium L20-264, which is "dying" and advised to upgrade memory. Specs below.

    Equium L20 - 264 part number: key features PSL2ZE-00500CAV - Numtxpackets® Celerona® M processor 360
    -Windows® XP Home Edition
    -60 GB hard drive
    -256 MB DDR2 RAM
    -15 "TFT color display
-Drive DVD Super Multi (Double Layer)

    Issues related to the:

    1. How can I remove the existing memory? Is there a guide of the user on this operation?

    2 How many slots have?

    3. What is the max memory per slot?

    4. can I buy Toshiba memory directly?

It is rather urgent and would like a quick answer.

    Thanks in advance
    Rag99

    Hi mate.

As far as I know your laptop supports two memory locations.
They must be placed at the bottom of the unit.
If you n t know how to change this then I recommend consulted the user manual!
The manual can be downloaded from the Toshiba European page.
I think that the laptop can be upgraded to 2 GB of RAM. So, you can use 1 GB of RAM in one slot.

PS: you must use the RAM DDR2 PC2-4200 memory - 200pin modules

  • Equium L20-197 to control the Volume

    HI peeps,

I have a problem with my laptop Equium L20-197 of comrades. When it boots into windows, you get a warning message indicating the canoe access volume control. There is no volume control icon in the taskbar, and I also noticed that in the properties of the sound device and Audio, it says that there is no audio device.

In the Manager devices, section controller audio, video, and game audio codec, audio drivers, legacy video capture, devices, legacy multimedia control devices and video codecs all say they work properly.

I tried the fix windows help for no volume control which is to extend the control files of the disk volume to your Windows Setup incase windows, the file is damaged or missing.
I tried a fresh install of windows.
None of these helped with the same warning as the result every time.

It is true that the audio chip on the motherboard is dead or is there maybe another solution to the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in adavance peeps :)

You said you tried to reinstall fresh Windows operating system.
So can ask now; have you used the Toshiba Recovery CD or did you use the original MS XP CD?

I would have preferred using the Toshiba Recovery CD because all the necessary drivers, tools, and utilities are already preinstalled
You can use the recovery CD to reset the phone to factory settings!
The configuration should work without any serious problem!

In my opinion, it's an easy way to set up the laptop. The whole process would take about 10 minutes.
