Equivalent 'Field of the Image' LiveCycle in the creation of InDesign PDF form?

LiveCycle has a PDF form field called "field of the Image. We add this field to the PDF files that we create so that our users can select and upload a JPEG image in their PDF with Adobe Reader.

Now, we would like to use InDesign to produce the same files in PDF form as an alternative to the use of LiveCycle. InDesign has a form like 'Field of the Image' field of the LiveCycle? We have not yet found.

In other words, does anyone know in InDesign create a field in the PDF forms that has the same 'Field of the Image' features of LiveCycle? LiveCycle field works in Adobe Reader enabled files and allows the JPEG format, among other things.

Thank you

Kevin

P.S. We discovered a way to create PDF forms in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI with similar functionality using JavaScript, but Acrobat Pro created documents only allow Adobe Reader to import PDFs, no JPEG or other image formats. If Adobe Acrobat Pro XI was not a viable alternative to LiveCycle to create our PDF files. We would like to know if we rule out InDesign, too.

As Peter says it has no way to do this using InDesign.

I'm new to creating forms, please excuse my ignorance. I created a form of the 9 page in InDesign on Mac OS 10.6.8 CS6 and exported as an interactive PDF. With Acrobat 10.1.10 I checked that there are no security - everything is allowed. None of the fields on form is required.  I initially had some fields mandatory but is not necessary to see if my printing problem would go.  I activated the extension which allows versions of reader before 11 to save data in the form. I tried to print my form with Reader 11 on Max OX 10.6.8 and Reader 11 on Windows 8.1 and haven't seen any problems printing. • Get the text of a pdf form to fill in Illustrator layers

    Hi all

OK, here's the thing. I have some PDF forms with multiple lines and columns and the information in them. I need to take this information and place Illustrator layered on a file. I've seen examples here accomplished that, with Excel files, but is there a way to do it from a PDF form? I use CS6 and Javascript.

I appreciate any help you can provide me.

    Kind regards

If you are in the export of files and to analyze text manually and forms are conducive to this, you can try to export data to PDF form as xml or .fdf (?) file, those who provide a text of these data document.

  • I need to simplify the csv of a pdf form data extraction

I have a complex PDF with fields to fill out. Once these are met, I want to extract the data in the fields, for insertion into a database.

I know that I can use the form to prepare, then more. Export data... will create a .fdf file. Then I can use Merge Data Files into spreadsheet... to generate a .csv file that contains all the data in. Then, I wrote code to extract this data and put it in my database of mssqlserver.

Several steps are required and I'd like to simplify as much as possible.

    From the very beginning.

    1. when I select export data, I am presented with a dialog box that uses 'Adobe_data.fdf Test' as the default file name. This default can be changed? By default, he can name that I used last time?

    2. when I select merge data files into spreadsheet I am presented with a dialog box requesting the file. It cannot by default the file .fdf, that I just created? This dialog box includes a check box (last Include list of files to export data since) but I don't want the latest list, I want the .fdf file I just created by default. In addition, this procedure aims to 'fusion' of the data files. I want to just "merge" one file! The only reason I use it is it seems to be the only way to convert the .fdf in a (pseudo) - implemented) .csv file.

    3. when I click on 'Export' in the dialog box, I have to retype the name of the file .fdf, since this type of file is not a part of the 'save as type' so I can't return the name.

    4. This step ends with another dialog (export Progress) with a View file buttons now and dialogue narrow. I have to click the close dialog box.

It sounds like a large number of steps, and it will be more difficult it should be to train someone to review these procedures.

Is there a better (easier way?

    Thank you.

You call with each click a 'step '? It is a bit exaggerated...

Anyway, you export the values of a single file or several files? If a single file then this task can be scripted, Yes, and the script can be attached to a button that can be triggered by a simple click.

If several files, then it is much more complicated and would require using an Action and a button, and I don't think that he will save "measures", compared to the original function.

  • Reflections on the creation of data PDF reports?

We have a number of people to enter data in and sign forms to fill permanently (maybe 20 PDFs a day) you have ideas on how to merge the data in a single file for analysis?

It would be ideal that we could get the data in a SharePoint 2007 somehow automated list.  However, a single Excel file would work too.

I would like to make this as painless (and transparent) for users as possible.

    We use Adobe Pro XI.

The easier I can see for this is for each user to:

    1. come with a unique file name

    2. save the file in PDF format in order to sign

3 save the file as an Excel file

This must happen for each full PDF.

Then, someone must run a program allows to analyze all the excel files and extract the data in a single excel workbook.

    Is there an easier way?

Acrobat allows you to extract the data in a collection of files PDF (or (Marlon X)) and create a CSV file that can be read by Excel. 11 Acrobat, select: Tools > forms > more shape Options > merge data files into spreadsheet.

It is important to understand what is a PDF file. You do not create a PDF file in the same way that you would create a Word file, it is not an editable format. You create your document in the software that you usually use (Word, Excel, InDesign, Photoshop, etc.) can export a PDF file, as if you were printing a paper copy. If you need to make changes, make you to the original document and export PDF one another.

Acrobat will install plugins for Office and Creative Suite programs (InDesign, Framemaker, etc.) will export PDF files even if Acrobat is not installed, but most of the time users does not really "in" Acrobat except to make things with forms or advanced security features. You cannot open Acrobat and start typing a letter as you can in Word.

Word has in fact already a function save slot, but it is very limited with respect to the content of PDF files and options to optimize, secure and accessible.

  • Fill in the fields on the customer side dynamically without the reader extensions

    Hello

Can I make a call to the server of a pdf form using Ajax technology? I want to fill some textfields dynamically on the client side based on a user selection. I have not the license extension drive still make a web service call to the server. Is there another way to achieve the desired requirement?

    Thank you.

Yes, there is a better way to do it without Reader Extensions.

AJAX is not an option, because this is not supported by Adobe Reader.

    Here is the solution:

Write that a REST based web or any Service Server Page that accepts the query string and meets the specified query string.

Assume that a Page http://myserver.com/EmployeeDetails?EmpId=1234 server returns the details of the employee as comma-separated values.

This page can be called from PDF using FormCalc

    the syntax is

    ResultField.rawValue = Get ("http://myserver.com/EmployeeDetails?EmpId=1234")

EmpName.rawValue = ResultField.rawValue.split (",") [1];          Retrieve the name of the emp of result and fill in the field

Note that if the page or the web service requires authentication, a basic authentication dialog box appears when you call this method.

In order to better allow anonymous authentication for pages.

I have implemented this approach in many projects and works very well.

    Hope that helps...

  • Creation of pdf forms to a Word doc that will have to be changed in the future

OK, I searched everywhere for an answer to this situation... and I want to know if there is a work around.

Basically I have a word document. I use this Word document to create a request form. So I manually create the fields as needed after I converted the document to pdf format.

Now, here's the question... at some point, the Word document will have to be changed... maybe a date or an address or something. That would mean I need to change the original Word document, to recreate the form (all fields by adding once again) and republish.

Can I modify the text in the PDF (with fields already in place) without having to change the file word of origin and re - create the shape?

Someone had this problem? I'm doing something wrong? Or is there an assumption that the Word document original that allows you to create your form (pdf) will not be changed at a later date?

    Thank you.

Yes you can import data to a PDF file from another data file using option "Import data" in Acrobat. AXI supports the .fdf, the .xfdf, the .xfd, .xml and .txt file formats.
