  KB980802 is an Important (not a criticism), updated for Windows XP. If you have decided to not not (re) install, you may need to hide so that updates automatic is not install it again.

  1. stop the automatic updates service:

  Start > run > services.msc (enter) > [OK]

  Double-click Automatic Updates > click Stop

  (Stopping the service will take a moment)

  2 remove the contents of the download folder:

  Start > run > %windir%\SoftwareDistribution (enter) > [OK]

  Open the download folder and delete its contents

  Close the window.

  3. go to the Windows Update Web site. Select CUSTOM and allow the analysis to be performed. KB980802 . If you want to deselect/uncheck and hide ("don't show me this update").

  4. start the automatic updates service:

  Start > run > services.msc (enter) > [OK]

  Double-click Automatic Updates > click Start

  (Starting the service will take a moment)

• XP - error: WshNetwork.EnumNetworkDrives (caused by KB982802 and KB2360937)

  The following code no longer works after installing the update KB982802

  Set WshNetwork = WScript.CreateObject ("WScript.Network")
  Set oDrives = WshNetwork.EnumNetworkDrives

  specifically EnumNetworkDrives

  It crushed with 800706 6 error code the table limits are not valid.

  PS tried to send this in XP but windows updates link on the XP forum brings you here on the forum windows 7!

  I had this same problem.

  After installing KB982802 on Windows XP then objNetwork.EnumNetworkDrives does not work, but if there is a mapped upward drive on a Sharepoint site or if a Sharepoint site has been added to "My Network Places". If I remove the mapping on the Sharepoint site, the problem goes away. If I remove the "My Network Places" Sharepoint site then I have to restart to get rid of this problem. Of cause there other situations where this problem arises, but in my case I could link it directly on the mapping of Sharepoint site readers.

  The command "Net use" also returns an error:

  "Use of C:\>net.
  1734 system error has occurred.

  The table limits are not valid.

  Note that this is the same mistake that if objNetwork.EnumNetworkDrives is used, "the limits of the table are not valid.".

  I was able to rewrite my script of connections I used objNetwork.EnumNetworkDrives using Set Drives = objFSO.Drives and DiskDrive.DriveLetter and DiskDrive.ShareName, but it is clearly a bug in KB982802 which must be fixed by Microsoft.

  It is not a solution to remove this hotfix to all Windows XP workstations.

• XP - Error Code: 0x80070005 (cannot install updates)

  I tried to update windows without success. I have XP Professional SP3, Media Center 2005. ESET antivirus and adaware. I ran MSRT, eset scan, scan adaware, all with no results. Updates, I try to get are: KB2347290, KB21121546, KB982802 KB981322 KB2141007.  I tried to run an update at a time and each of them at the same time with the same result. All these error code is: 0x80070005. Running internet explorer 8. I looked at all the results that I could find and tried to follow these directions. My brain is fried.

  September 14, Windows Update has installed several security updates.  After installation, my remote desktop connection ability has been disabled and I can't connect to my iPod via a USB connection.  I checked control panel and security settings, but can't find what has caused these deactivations.  Installed updates: KB2259922 KB975558 KB2347290 KB982802 KB981322 KB890830 and KB2141007 KB2121546
