Eratic behavior: book, the main text blocks and Cross References

I'm on InDesign 2014.2. Mac.

I'm working on a fairly large book. About 14 chapters / sections, about 400 total pages. There are also hundreds of cross references, almost all of them to anchor references.

The design of the book is as simple as possible. There is no graphics, text blocks only.

I use a single master page, with facing pages, and a block of text type. I used it throughout the production of the book, and the primary text flow worked well, chapter after chapter. Pages have been created automatically, and automatically flowed text.

Maybe I need to change the page size of the book, and I also have a lot of editing to do which will reduce a lot of the chapters. I wanted to make sure all pages use the main text flow to do that, go as gently as possible.

To my dismay, I discovered that although I used systematically throughout the book master text streams, all but three of my chapters have inexplicably lost their text stream. All images in these chapters have converted into ordinary images. That I edit the book, it's playing havoc with paging and referrals.

I tried to restore the flow of text in one of the first chapters. It's easy to do, in theory.

  • Move the first page off to the side frame
  • Delete all pages except the first page
  • Command-shift-click on the first page to restore the flow of the main text
  • Copy and paste the contents of the old frame into the primary stream restored.

When I do, the pages to move properly, and I'm back to having a chapter with a block of primary text on each page. Unfortunately, this breaks all cross-references that refer to this newly reorganized chapter and all references to the front in this chapter.

I tried to do all that I could imagine. Only remove the frames and not pages. Try without the busy book. Nothing works. I tried the command update cross-references in the book menu. Has nothing.

It seems impossible to redistribute the text in a new primary master framework, without completely breaking the cross references.

I finally found something that seems to work:

  • Create a new master page at the end of the document.
  • Go to the last page of the history of the chapter and the last history image a link to the text block type on the page that you just created.
  • In the pages palette, delete all pages in the document, with the exception of the master page that you created.

All text will be redistributed within the frameworks of masters, and cross-references (to and from the frame) seem to be intact.

  • out the anchor text block and copy its contents

    Hi all

I have a script that will be able to anchor to InDesign text block and it works well. Now my problem is that I released that anchored text frames and then copy its contents the same position where the text block was at anchor.

    Here's what I do:

    1. find and block of text of a document (using the find object, anchored by its applied object style).

    2. release the anchored object found.

3 copy its contents the same position where it was anchored.

For 1 and 2 rep, I maybe able to do but point 3 I have no idea.

Hope someone can lend me the time to solve this problem.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    -elmer

    then, instead of myFrame.releaseAnchoredObject (); use myFrame.remove ();

  • Apply effects to the text block and not the text

I am trying to apply a shadow to a text block, but he keeps applied the effect of text rather than the text block.  I click on the text block, and then effects and shadow and object is selected in the 'Settings For' drop-down box.  However, he maintained the application of the shadow to the text, rather than to the text block.   I am doing this wrong, or is there something else I need to do?

I use CS4 on Windows Vista.

How can I move a note to end back in the main text? Simply by clicking on the footnote number is no longer seems to do anything...

Pages ' 09 v4.3 support hypertext links have been implicitly set with notes at end of document, which led to a return to the original location of the page by double-clicking on the index value of EndNote. This feature is not enabled in any version of Pages v5, and return to the original page is a purely manual exercise.

  • Tutorial of the postcard - can't get the new text block started

It is a very basic question. I do the tutorial of postcard. I'm unable to get a second text block began on the front of the postcard to the time of the event. I take the text tool and drag it, but it does not create a new text frame. He thinks I want to type the information in the context of existing text.

I hit escape repeatedly to try and out the first block of text, clicking on the tool text several times, tried shift and click, put the date in a Microsoft Word's doc information and then tried to 'Place' - all to nothing done. How can I get the file to understand that I am creating a second block of text?  How to get out the original text block?

This seems to be a problem for me, I can't "uncheck" any tool path - by clicking on another tool or hit escape. It does not work. I close the file, then open it new in order to use a new tool. Very frustrating and time-consuming. I work under Windows, if that helps.

    Thank you.

Try to zoom a little and start your slide text tool starting off the page on the region of cardboard. Using the black selection tool, you can drag to the page and resize it using the bounding box handles.

  • Help! 'remove the rendered JavaScript blocking' and 'leverage browser caching.

My site Adobe Muse, www.realtorindfw.com, (desktop version) loading fine until yesterday. Now it loads very slowly, I tried to reduce the size of the image, thinking that maybe the problem (even if it used to load incredibly fast even when the images were 4 x greater, so I never thought that). When that didn't fix the problem I typed my website in Google PageSpeed and found that the main problem is that I need to 'remove the rendered JavaScript blocking' and "leverage browser caching."

It seems that the main problem is that the file, http://webfonts.creativecloud.com/...eue:n4:all; open-without - condensed:n3:all.js, is apparently rendered blocking JavaScript which is causing all the rest to be delayed, because images can not load until this line is resolved and that can take up to a minute. Reading online, it seems that if I could move this line of code to the bottom, then it don't take everything, because no assets would be behind it. I obviously know nothing about good coding (that's why I use Muse). How can I go about solving this problem of render-blocking JavaScript?

In addition, the issue of "leverage implementing caching of the browser" is that some images have an expiration are associated. I do not think this has nothing to do with me and is rather a kind of problem of Muse. Is there a way can I fix?

My page was loading fine, until I downloaded randomly once again, and all these problems started. Please type my site in PageSpeed and address the problems of the desktop version and see if you can understand how this can be resolved. This is my professional site, so yes, I'm trying to get it fixed as soon as possible. I also discussed with support chat and they said that the best way to get it resolved would be to post it here. Thank you.

debp83130756 if your page is slow to load, start a new thread here on the forum, ask for advice on improving the performance of page loading, and include the URL of the page. (A new thread will attract more attention than to post a reply in a thread that has been dormant for more than a year.)

PageSpeed side has surprisingly little to page load performance as experienced by a visitor to the site and is not related to SEO or your Google page ranking.

Him "generally render JavaScript blocking" on a Muse page is code that starts to load Web fonts. If it was moved later then the content of your page may appear a fraction earlier, but it appears in the wrong font, and then jump around to settle once the police you wanted has been loaded. Most of the people prefer to avoid content in the police hurt, insofar as that it can be avoided.

  • Formatting the main HARD drive and do a fresh install of the OS

    Hi guys,.

I have a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro running Yosemite (10.10.2). I did not care on the data management since the day that I bought and now it's all over the place and a lot of unwanted files. I have backups time machine the main hard drive and I also backed up all important data on a separate hard drive.

My question is, is it possible that I can erase my entire hard drive and reinstall Yosemite (10.10.2)? The last time I tried to do this, my MacBook connected to the server and installed the latest OS (I guess it was time Cougar 10.8.4).) I don't want to update the OS because my Audio Interface has no drivers for what after 10.10.2.

I don't like on the data loss that I have multiple backups of all the files of important work, as well as backups time machine of the disk set. Thus, formatting everything is completely fine with me.

    Thank you!

The only ways I know to reinstall 10.10.2 are:

    • You have the initial download of 10.10 after Yosemite went out and created a USB this version thumb drive Installer. If so, you can start Setup from USB, delete your Macintosh HD, install 10.10 and after 10.10 is installed, you can download and run the 10.10.2 Combo Update to bring it up to 10.10.2.
    • You have the 10.10.2 download after this version has been published and have created a USB this version thumb drive Installer. If so, you can start Setup from USB, wipe your hard drive Macintosh and install 10.10.2.

If you can't do or any of the foregoing, all what you can do then is start Recovery HD and install the latest version of Yosemite, which is 10.10.5. Even if the HD recovery may appear 10.10.2,"limited you will always get the most recent version of Yosemite. Without either of the above, there is no way that I know how to install an earlier version of Yosemite. Maybe you could ask a local Apple Store to see if they have a solution for 10.10.2.

Lately when I use the mouse the words text scrolling and copy on top of itself a million times. This happens when I am on line reading something to say on the MSN homepage. Sometimes I can click off on the side and separates the text and I can read it but when I use the scroll of the mouse or even the scroll bar on the sideit happens again and again.

    Hi Jaynebasye,

    1. This only happens when you are on the MSN Web site?

    2. did you of recent changes on the system?

    Method 1:

You can try to change the scroll settings and check.

For more information, see the following article

Change the settings of the mouse

    Method 2:

    Step 1:

You can also check if the problem occurs in safe mode with network.

    Startup options (including safe mode)

Start your computer in safe mode

    Step 2:

If you do not experience the problem in safe mode with network, then perform a clean boot.

A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.

You can read the following article to put the computer in a clean boot:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Note: Make sure that you put the computer to a Normal startup once you are finished.

How to make the default text size and line spacing in small Sticky Notes

    Hello

I suggest that you try the method below and check if it helps.

Method 1: analysis of auditor of file system (CFS)

System File Checker is a Windows utility that allows users to find corruptions in Windows system files and restore the damaged files. To perform a scan of the SFC, check out the link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833.

Note: the steps for Windows 8/8.1, works perfectly with Windows 10.

    Method 2: clean boot

A clean boot is executed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This will eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program, an update or when you run a program in Windows. • Text block and master pages

    Hello

is there a way to create a text frame on a master page that allows the user type directly instead of having to break up the link/unlock?

    Thank you

    Robert

When you create a new document, if you check the main text frame, it uses this framework of main text on the master page by default.

If you tap on a page based on this mask, you can click in text without substitution.

    QUESTION:

What gets the relationship between the number of blocks and coherent? How to calculate become consistent?

You can see that your uniform is getting down to 6 to 12, is it not? Reading of the below thread Asktom.

  • Search the text of paragraph style and place them in the new text block with width 50mm

    Hello

I'm looking for voor a paragraph to find script dat styles and place them in a new text block with width 50 mm.

    Is there a solution?

    Kind regards

    Patrick

Width: options General of the frame of the text, GBA: fixed width, then 50mm width

Height: automatic block text size options
