I have Windows Vista Home edition and after the completion of a security update, it crashed (BSOD). I was not able to start the system, even with the Windows Vista disc, I can not open in safe mode, command prompt repair or mode. I have a windows vista Ultimate edition with alienware m15x, I caught a virus there is in a picture, I caught a virus w/no antivirus, I system restored my laptop thinking that I could get rid of the virus, now I got a blue screen with the error 0x0000c1f5 code, I can't start the computer in safe mode it restarts just after being on crdsk for a while, I try to system restore but it goes back to the blue screen, I hit f2 and get the bsod screen. Hi HillarySecond,
Method 1:
You can try to boot from the Windows Vista installation disc and try to perform a startup repair.
For more information, you can check the link below:
What are the system recovery options in Windows Vista?
Method 2:
If the faulty startup repair, then try to run a disk check.
Note: When you run the disk check, there are chances of losing data if you can take a backup before starting the checkdisk.
a. Insert the installation disc.
b. restart your computer.
c. click on the Start button, click the arrow next to the button lock and then click on restart. If you are prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.
Note: If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer. You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings. For more information, see BIOS: frequently asked questions.
d. choose your language settings, and then click Next.
e. in the System Recovery Options menu, click command prompt
f. at a command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER
Chkdsk /f /r X: (drive letter)
Note: When you run the checkdisk, there are risks of data loss you can take a backup before starting the checkdisk.
g. press y when you are prompted to check the drive the next time the system restarts.
h. restart the computer and check.
Hope this information is useful.

Current problem: whenever I try to boot Vista I get the same error during the vista loading screen.
I tried the safe mode, the last correct log on the thing, and even a system restore disc that I downloaded from PC World.
None of these online solutions have worked.

Is there a way to bypass the default loading process and access the recovery partition drive to do a factory reset?

Hi David,
You can read the following article and check if it helps:
Stop error message when you start a Windows Vista-based computer: "0x0000C1F5".
What happens when you try to boot from the Windows Setup disc? You receive all the codes of error or message?
You can check if the boot priority is set to boot from the DVD in the BIOS settings. If this is not the case, try to change the boot priority to boot from DVD and check.
NOTE: Change to the BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.
If you need assistance to change the Bios settings, you may need to contact the manufacturer of the computer.
For more information, you can consult the following article:
BIOS: Frequently asked questions
If you can boot from CD after changing the boot priority, then try to perform a startup repair and check if it helps.
For more information, see the following articles:

What are the system recovery options in Windows Vista?
Hope this information is useful.
