Error 0x800CCC0F

I use Windows Mail for a long time to access emails from my internet account BT but now get the following message is displayed:

Your server suddenly put an end to the connection. The possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'mail.btinternet.com', server: 'mail.btinternet.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, secure (SSL): Yes, error number: 0x800CCC0F

I tried the 'Help' on Windows Mail and followed the instructions but it did not fix, can anyone help?

Thanks, but unfortunately neither have worked.

Or imply two. You try all three?

Delete the account, restart and add it again.

I moved your post on the Microsoft Answers forum when it was off-topic on the forum 'Making in network and get online' Windows XP where Outlook Express issues belong.

Contained in the error message POP settings seem to be correct according to !-mail-settings-for-outgoing-and-incoming-mail-servers%3F http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6876/~/what-are-the-bt-yahoo, but they are unusual for Yahoo, they do specify encrypted connections.  Because you pay BT for the account, I think you should talk to them.  You can also find some general technical troubleshooting here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813514

  • Windows mail problem receiving emails - error 0x800CCC0F

I have Windows mail 6.0.6000.16386 v..  For some time now, it has become progressively more reluctant to receive emails, to the point at which it now 'expires' leaving me with error 0x800CCC0F.  I can send emails without any problem, but need to use Webmail to retrieve messages.  Any ideas?  Bob.

Try to compact and repair the database of WinMail (see www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/).  Attention also to the antivirus interference that may lead to problems (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3).  You can also try to remove your e-mail account, then closing and reopening WinMail and add it again.  Sometimes, the parameters for a given account are 'lost' and which solves the problem.

You can also check to see if a webmail access works very well, if you have this ability.

If you use Windows Mail in Vista then try to remove your email account, make sure that you have not interfere antivirus (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3), compact and repair the database of WinMail (www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/) and then add your return e-mail account again and see if that fixes it.

  • Error 0x800ccc0f of Windows Mail. Could not receive new e-mail messages.

original title: windows mail Error 0x800ccc0f

Hello fantastic support network. Read these previous responses, but none of the work steps or apply here.

It is a January 2009 HP Pavilion dv6-1030us notebook PC that is pre-installed with VISTA. I immediately

client Windows Mail enabled & his works well on AT & T / yahoo mail Uverse. Microsoft Security Essentials is my protection.

    * November 30, 2011, receive POP3 abruptly stopped at ~ 15:00 but SMTP sending worked. With the help of the

send-receive button gave the infamous 0x800ccc0f. Another IMAP account has always worked in the MAIL client.

    * The process of POP e-mail is reported in the normal status window: it's the same as always... connection.

authorizing, receive the list messages BUT the thermometer progress bar passing ~1/2 THEN gets busy Vista circle

appears when the cursor is in the window and the (not answer) appears in the top bar of the box, the grey-out box

and after 30 seconds or an eternity, ERROR 0x800ccc0f and all its gory details appear in the ERROR tab

    * Web browser email AT & T has always worked well. If I was logged into that or not, the E-MAIL client still not receive.

    * Yes, I checked reentres changed settings / taken secure... as other suggested aid. What I used was correct.

    * Do not know how to really kill uSoft essential security of Virus dead... few have suggested these things can get in the way.

But I can turn it off & see a message "WARNING do not set" "so I guess than her off, but the problem persists in both cases."

    * Later, I took a bunch of updates for Microsoft VISTA that I've been holding on & without change.

    * AT & T help pages wrote that the server names had been migrated from pop.att.yahoo.com to inbound.att.net

(similar to smtp) so I changed those back & before but nothing has changed functionally.

    * Called people helping AT & T & they checked my e-mail & server was OK, like many, they might say.

"" * In despiration I have set up a new MAIL account unsing the identical info and checked the box of "synchronize".

(on the opening tab properties page) & unchecked that box on the original account. NOW, the send/receive

Downloaded ALL my mail on the server since the dawn of time to the account, 20 000 + articles. About 4 hours

later, I got an inbox stuffed to date. Thought, it has been fixed. The next send/receive button & ccc0f ol ' was back.

The workaround is sending web mail to my IMAP but that gets old fast.

    * Please do not solve dodging & me migrating to a different E-MAIL client, unless you can prove that all my finicky files

& This will be moved as if by magic.

    * Yes I made backups of Vista on an external hard drive... but the idea of a clean full ERASE & reinstall all

to fix some broken uSoft code is disgusting.

    * I am ready to use reliable tools to repair if they are really clean. I can't find the armories of install any MAIL in this

the machine then that under XP, settings, and programs offered remedial functions.

The computer is a tool for my business & life, not a hobby or pastime or vocation.  I just wish it was broadcast as if it were.

    * If I appeal to you, the experts. Thanks in advance! RFjock 12/17:30 Chicago 10.2011

Bruce asked jumping me in here, because I'm more familiar with Winmail and the database and I wrote WMUtil.  The reason why I wrote this is because there is no easy way to manually compact the database, and WMUtil simply encapsulates the MS utility to make it easier for users.

    Here are a few suggestions:

If you have the WinMail gadget running, get rid of it.

For MSE, go to settings and disable the eml file type analysis.  Which prevents the eml files scanned and deleted, resulting in a database inconsistency that corrupts the database (fixes WMUtil).  If you are unwary enough to open an attachment infecting, MSE will always be in the background to block.

Your problem is caused by one of the two possible, from what I can discern.  The database in Winmail opener could have been damaged, you can run WMUtil (and let him finish.  If you are worried, then do a backup of things, if you do not already have (see www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#wm)).  Then see if the e-mail problem accounts work.

If you get the error, then the other question could apply, that is, there may be a problem message on the server that cannot handle Winmail and generates the error.  In this situation, you will need to identify the problem message and get rid of him.  Since you already have 2 copies of your 20,000 messages that you have in the POP3 Inbox, I suggest that you create a new folder of mail on the server and move messages from the Inbox to the server to it.   Then add another copy of the POP3 account in Winmail and see if it will download the most recent messages.  Who can get rid of the question then.

See if any of this helps.

The addresses of the incoming/outgoing servers were introduced a couple of years for all AT & T accounts, so it should not make a big difference:

    C:\Users\NB>nslookup pop.att.yahoo.com

    Address: 192.168.1.254

    Non-authoritative answer:

    C:\Users\NB>nslookup inbound.att.net

There may be no end of the causes of error 0x800CCC0F, but it's a break executed by the server of communication that might as well come here as in the client.

Start with this Port number.   Port 80 is usually reserved for HTTP.    Try the 25.

In particular, I think, note this:

NOTE: "smtpout.secureserver.net" is a relay SMTP server. To use this server to send e-mail messages, you must enable SMTP relay on your e-mail account. Connect to your management page email accounts to set up SMTP relay. If you have not set up SMTP relay and allows it to your Internet Service Provider (ISP), you can use the server of mail from your Internet Service provider. Contact your Internet service provider for this setting.

  • Error 0x800CCC0f receipt E-mail message

If it was working very well before and you make no changes, I doubt that it is a permission issue. The error message that reflects. This is the e-mail scan more likely to interfere with the download.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

Note that for many AV programs, it may be necessary to uninstall the program and reinstall in custom Mode and uncheck e-mail scanning when the option is available.

    Hi me again,.

You may need to change the settings of your incoming and outgoing settings.

Open your e-mail program > tools > accounts > your bizmail account > properties > servers, under outgoing mail server, check "this server requires authentication" > apply > advanced, under outgoing (SMTP) mail change to 465 not 25. Put a check mark on "this server requires a secure connection (SSL)" > under incoming (POP3) mail, change it to 995 no 110. Put a check mark on "this server requires a secure connection (SSL)" > OK
