Error 1603 adobe common color RGB set unlock

I bought Adobe Creative Suite Design Standard and I am trying to install it but installation stop to half way through because he cannot install Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop. The error code is 1603, and he said Adobe RGB common set color. The adobe website and tech support told me to contact Microsoft so that they could unlock c:/windows/system32/spool/drivers/color. I tried to contact Microsoft but it keeps telling me that my product id is not in the correct format. I need the software as soon as POSSIBLE because I use it at school.

I use Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit

  • Error 1603 when installing Adobe CS4 on Vista 64

I'm trying to install Adobe CS4 on Vista 64 and it fails to install with error 1603.  I went on the website of Adobe, and they said that the problem is a color profile file named "sRGB Color Space Profile.icm" claiming Adobe is locked, it cannot be changed.  Adobe has suggested that I use a "Unlocker" utility found on a 3rd party Web site, but McAfee is down this dangerous site.  So second suggestion of Adobe is to search on Microsoft a way to unlock this file.  I searched, I have not found anything that could unlock a file in Vista.  So, does anyone know how to unlock a file on Vista 64?  Does anyone know how to get around this installation problem?  Does anyone know how do I know what program has a locked file so that I can stop it?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I managed to solve this problem by following these steps:

    (1) open the control panel in Vista.

    (2) select the icon for color management.

    3) go to the Advanced tab

    (4) in my computer, using the device profile "sRGB IEC61966 - 2.1" which corresponds to the "sRGB Color Space Profile.icm" file
I changed this setting to use "sRGB virtual device model profile" instead of "sRGB IEC61966 - 2.1".»  (I don't know if ' profile of device model virtual sRGB "is available on the computer for everyone, but I don't think it's so important as long as it's not" sRGB IEC61966 - 2.1 "").

    (5) I have my case the "sRGB IEC61966 - 2.1" was also used as the default value for the system, so at the bottom of the window is a button says "Change default system" click on it.

    (6) then click on continue (you need to continue administrative privilege).

    (7) make the same changes as above for the device profile in this new window.

    (8) close these panels with the changes.

    (9) install Adobe CS4 (Yeh!).

    (10) after that, I went back the color management and set the default initial profile bot and system to "sRGB IEC61966 - 2.1.

At least it does the job for me.  I don't know how this will work for others.

I hope this helps, I lost a week of messing around with this thing.

You don't like the additional components, but many of them are essential and cannot be omitted and must they be removed after the fact.

  • I want that all my color settings set to sRGB so that when I print from my professional lab colors will match my screen (I'm calibrated). When I hit save under and see that there is a check box to embed the Adobe 1998 color profile in the menu, but I want

When I hit Save as menu drop-down is checked to integrate adobe 1998 color profile and I want it to be srgb. Where can I change so that it is srgb and the rest in this way? My impressions of my professional lab and come back cast, flat and dark green or blue for them. My monitor is calibrated according to me its because somewhere I have adobe 1998 selected and color profiles are the translation not properly so I need everything to be srgb. I am also shooting srgb. Help, please!

If you think that your calibration profile is disabled, follow these steps:

  • Persistent message "RGB setting is different.

I have InDesign CS2, Japanese version (much of what I write will be translations of Japanese UI, so forgive me if it does not match the wording exactly English).

A few weeks ago, I attended a series of specific measures required by a printing press, and now whenever I open any document, InDesign said, "this document RGB setting is different from the color setting for the application."  Curiously, however, what he says are the settings of the document and he said he would change them to match demand are identical.  And no matter whether if I chose to update the document to match the application or not and no matter how much time I save the document after this, the next time I open the document, it still gives the same complaint.

A screenshot of the dialog is attached - I translate better than I can, but I hope that someone will be familiar with it in English anyway.  It is something like this:

-What measures should be taken? -

O do not fix the document

    Policy: preserve

    Profile: sRGB IEC61966 - 2.1

Good O the document corresponding to the current setting of the color

    Policy: preserve

    Attribution of profile: sRGB IEC61966 - 2.1

Content placed: preserve default assignment (other choices is 'Activate all profiles' and 'Disable all profiles'

The steps, I think I took to printing management which contained the color were the following:

    1. Edit-> color setting: set best choices 'Use pre-press - Japan2' (the instructions say not explicitly)
    2. Edition-> box setting mix transparency-> CMYK document use
    3. Image-> Mode-> CMYK
    4. Make sure that all of my swatches are CMYK (I already knew that)

I guess this problem probably has something to do with the first step, and I can't guarantee that I have not other changes not listed above.  Anyway, currently when I look at my color settings, "setting" serves 'pre-press - Japan2' and the 'Advanced Settings Mode' box is not checked.  The "Operating space" section lists the RGB setting as "Adobe RGB (1998)" and the CMYK setting as "Japan color 2001 coated.  In the section "Color management", RGB is to "Preserve the buried profile" (I have no idea what that means - the other choices are 'Off' and 'Change to operating space'), CMYK is "Preserve Number (ignore Linked profile)" and it has a symbol to lock to the left of it - when I hover over the selection, the following notes say "when the document is opened, the CMYK profile is preserved. When content CMYK is placed, by default profile will be ignored, but object by object, you can choose to replace the profile (select object-> Image color setting).  With this parameter, you can also change for re-use proofing or document by checking the CMYK profiles are different. "(Sorry, that last sentence loses me - Japanese isn't my native language).  All the boxes in the color management section are checked.  I will attach a screenshot of the dialog, too.

I have really no idea what most of this stuff done, but rather that nature 'locked' sounds setting CMYK related to opening a document, the complaint deals with RGB, CMYK not.  I recall that a few times as well a question on the RGB setting and a question on the CMYK setting is here (two dialogs one after the other), but in these cases the CMYK, we had the same mysterious problem than the current setup and adjustment that he would change the document were the same ("Japan color 2001 coated" if I remember correctly).  I didn't get that one lately (coincidence? solved?), but every time I get one of RGB.  Any idea what's going on?

I think the "incompatibility" is really the policy, not the profile itself. Unless you change your default settings to match the document, you may not be able to get rid of him.

I might try this on a copy of the file and see if it works: Edit > assign profile... and choose "Discard (use of the current workspace)." Say OK, then run the command again assign profiles and this time, choose the "current workspace award." As far as I know this should affect only the ID document, unrelated content. This assumes, of course, that current workspaces are correct.

  • FSX and installation error 1603

Yesterday I installed Flight Simulator and everything worked fine.  Today, it will not be open.  I got a message on InstallDriver Module.  So, I completely uninstalled everything, downloaded install sanitation (na see FSX in the list of programs) and I tried to re - install.  I get an error 1603 feature transfer error.  I use Vista Home Premium SP2 on a HP Pavilion.  Any help?

    Hi FSXguy,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

    First thing to make sure is to start with the installation in the administrator account and also;

Method 1: Verify that the Windows Installer service is set to automatic

1 Windows Vista or Windows 7

Click Start, type services.msc in the search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
    2. in the list of Services, double-click Windows Installer.
    3. in the properties of Windows Installer dialog box, click Automatic in the startup type list.
    4. click on start, click on apply and then click OK.
    5. start the installation of the software.
    If this makes no difference then;

Method 2: Perform a clean boot and clear the Temp folder

When you start Windows as usual, some programs start automatically and run in the background. These programs may include antivirus and system software that may interfere with the installation of the product. When you perform a clean boot before you start the installation, you prevent these programs from starting automatically. To perform a clean boot, follow the steps appropriate to your version of Windows.

Step 1: Restart the computer by using a clean boot

Note to complete this procedure, you must be logged in as an administrator or as a member of the Administrators group. If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from performing this procedure.

    1. open System Configuration.

    Windows Vista or Windows 7

    a. click on start
    (b) in the search box, type System Configuration.
    c. in the list programs, click System Configuration.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
    2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.
    3. Windows Vista or Windows 7

Under Selective startup, clear the following check boxes:
    Load System o services
    startup items load o
    o use original boot configuration
    4. click on the Services tab.
    5. Click to select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.
    6. click OK and then click on restart.

Step 2: Delete the Temp folder

To clear the temporary files folder, follow these steps:

    Windows Vista or Windows 7

    1. on a computer that is running Windows Vista or Windows 7, click Start
type folder in the search box, and then click Temp in the list programs.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
    2. from the Edit menu, click Select all.
    3. on the file menu, click on delete.
    4. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
    5. try to start the FSX program. If you receive the error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section, remove the program, and then reinstall the program.

Let us know if the information helped reinstall the game or for any further assistance.
