HP DV8t: Problems of migration origin to new SSD HD Win7 OS.

Hi all!

I have a laptop HP DV8t. The laptop computer was purchased with Windows 7 64-bit and 2 x 500 GB hard drives. I would like to replace the hard drive with a 80 GB Intel SSD.

Immediate problem, it's that I can just install Windows 7 on SSD because the recovery disks will not accept a smaller than 500 GB HARD drive.

What I've done so far:

Fact reset factory + formatted hard drives.

Replaced with SSD 80 GB secondary hard drive, then the Acronis Migrate tool used to clone the content of the main drive to SSD.

Put SSD drive as primary drive, replace (empty) 500 GB secondary drive.

Problem: when connecting, I get a blue screen that says "this version of windows is not original" and can't do anything.

I try again. Repeat the process until the SSD as drive, but now as secondary drive, put the drive of 500 GB (with BONES) where I cloned the operating system.

No blue screen during the connection. Things seem to be ok, I see the windows logo on the SSD drive in my computer so assume that windows runs on the SSD. Problem: Now the windows installer will not work. Most of the programs are not installed, which gives an error to windows installer. I can't update the installer online because it is now suspended indefinitely. Also I can't update things such as .net framework (more error installation). This essentailly means that the laptop does not work because I can't run anything on this subject.

All the tips are greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Saladin

It works and notice I said 'will' and not 'must '. It should work though, as I've done it before.

Download the ISO of Windows 7 Home Premium files and create the W7 installation disc (burn) a detail of W7.

http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-Windows-7-SP1-ISO-from-Digital-River/

Version what ever you use it must match what the computer came with, so your W7 product key will work on the underside of the laptop.

If you need help with burning ISO files or make the drive, post again _ don't forget to verify the disc after burning or it won't work.

Follow this tutorial to install W7.

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/OperatingSystems/SS/Windows-7-clean-install-part-1.htm

The tutorial has you erase the drive to install W7 on, it is important to remove the entire disk, not just format it. After you remove the drive to let the W7 disk format automatically, don't do it yourself.

In your case, you have made such a mess trying to install W7, you must use the W7 installation disc to remove all information damaged on the drive. If there are any partitions on the disk, delete those too. You'll end up creating "Unallocated" space on the entire disk, and that's what you want.

Continue Setup and install it as a trial, when it's done, right click on "Computer" and select "Properties".

At the bottom of this page to find 'change product key '. A click on it and follow the directions to enter the product key for the laptop.

The instructions above are very important so follow them exactly or it won't work. It will take about 20 minutes to install W7 and 2 hours to download the ISO from Digital River files.

First, install your chipset driver.

Start the automatic driver finder to install the most recent.

http://www.Intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect?IID=dc_iduu

He'll also find one for your Intel WiFi card as appropriate.

Then install your video driver, here a direct from NVIDIA.

http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-Win7-WinVista-64bit-296.10-WHQL-driver.html

Install the rest of your drivers here.

http://Forum.NotebookReview.com/HP-drivers-software-Forum/404164-drivers-HP-DV6-2xxx-dv7-3XXX-DV8-HDX16-HDX18-Intel.html

Also, install technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver from the link above.

Install the drivers in the order that I posted to them. If you need help with the rest of the drivers or get the hot key bezel to work (bass and treble _ volume _ eject) and then validate again.

Do not use the command utility of tone on your support page, it is corrupted and it will not solve HP.

In all cases, save the installation on the desktop files and install them from there, not in a temporary folder.

You don't have secondary hard disk, none of this has nothing to do with it, it is only used as a storage drive. When you follow the tutorial it will show up there (you'll see what I mean, when you get there), just ignore it and only deal with your new SSD.

I have a dv8 so I know exactly what to do.

  • Problems of migration to a new system - guest operating system does not work

I've been running VMware Player on a Win 7 64 bit laptop.  I have 3 computers of customers, which is 32-bit Win XP.  I've just set up a new machine, also running Win 7 64 bit, but a processor more recent (i7) and more memory (32 GB).  I use the same version of the player on both machines (4.0.1 build-528992).  I copied all the files from the laptop to the new office.  Ubuntu and Mac OS X Lion customers will work perfectly.  When I try to run the client Win XP, I get the following message:

File not found: Windows XP Mode base.vhd

This file is required to power on this virtual machine.  If this file has been moved, please provide its new location.

I don't have a VHD file, I have a VMDK file (again, which works fine on the laptop).  I tried turn off the virtual machine on the laptop, then copying the files to the desktop, and I also tried to suspend, both with the same results.  When I try to change the settings of the virtual machine on the new desktop, clicking on the adjustment of the hard drive (IDE) causes the following message:

The parent of this virtual disk could not be opened.

The VMDK file is 19.2 GB.  I've searched and searched trying to find why this could happen and found nothing.  The XP machine has a good bit of responsible software that I use on a daily basis.  Last resort, I could create a virtual XP machine on the new desktop and reload all the software, but strongly prefer not to do it - it would be a tedious task.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what could happen and how to fix it?  I copied the files several times to ensure that it is not something simple like a damaged copy.  I'm puzzled.  The XP machine was NOT initially a WIndows XP Mode machine, even if the message indicates that VMware Player seems to think it is (and, again, it works fine on the laptop).  The name of the virtual machine is "WIndows XP Mode" - maybe that's why he complains.  Is it possible to rename all of the files and references to files to resolve this problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Welcome to the community,

We can be able to know if the virtual machine is one any "Windows XP Mode" VM or not to take a look at VMware.log virtual machine. Please attach the last file vmware.log file XP VM (that of the laptop), as well as the PC to your next post.

  • The data migration to the new SSD after end of 2009 update

I'm about to upgrade my Mac mini 3,1 end 2009 to 8 GB of RAM from OWC and to adapt to an OWC 240 GB SSD in the space of the optical drive. My original HARD drive will remain in the machine. My question is how can I go the the boot drive SSD install El Capitan and transfer a lot of data from the HARD drive? I can do all this with both drives installed?

    TIA

Yes, you can do both installed.

Yu first can upgrade RAM and install the SSD as a second drive.

Then boot normally to the old drive.

Go to the Mac App Store and download the installer of El Capitan.

Start the installation, and then select the SSD and the location to install CBS. You can use disk utility to format the SSD to the format that is logged if the SSD is not an option for the installation location.

After you install EC on the SSD yo can either copy the data from the old disk to new say or use:

Move your content to a new Mac - Apple Support

To select the disk is the disk boot go to System Preferences > startup disk and select the one yo want to start normally.

You can always start with the Option key to select the startup disk

  • Re: Tecra R950-18F: win 8 Pro starts a new SSD drive

    Hello

Having a few issues with the victory 8 DVD pro included with my laptop.

BIOS is set as UEFI + secure boot, win 8 pro dvd starts and I can start recovery, after a while, he asks disc 2 and starts to recover win 8.

After completion and reboot, it does not start and shows just the toshiba logo.

Factory hdd with SSD OCZ VERTEX 4 is replaced by the bios.

    What could be the problem?

    > Drive HARD factory is replaced with SSD OCZ VERTEX 4 recognized by the Bios.

You have the same start-up problems 8 win using the original HDD equipped Tecra R950?

From my point of view, it would be possible that this laptop does not start successfully because of the new SSD.

I recommend you check the previous HARD disk.
If the laptop could start correctly, the problem is related to the new SSD drive.

In some cases, it would be possible that the SSD firmware must be updated.

  • Toshiba Tecra S3 - new SSD stuck on JBOD, cannot install windows on it

I just got myself a Kingston V series 64 GB SSD drive, but I can't it is detected by windows installation programs.
After looking around, I found that the Tecra S3 drives must be "1RAID 0" and not JBOD to activate windows to
be installed on it. (unless you use the recovery CD, which I did not right now, even if I wanted to use it)

I also found the "collar" necessary to get the BIOS to change when you get to 'run the creation '.
    is 1,2,3,4, [Enter].

But here's the catch: + BIOS does not account for the string... +.
I type the string, 1234, [Enter], and it cancels my desired, change as if I said NO and set it to JBOD.
(if I don't type the string on the right, it comes out, but stays 1raid0 and "run the creation" is still there)
I tried on one of my other drives and it worked fine, but for some reason this drive seems not wanting me to.

I tried the USB drive (works fine) and the BIOS sees it for what it is, so that the drive works well (from my tests)

Would be really appreciated any ideas on what to do now, I'm out of ideas on what I did not properly
    Thank you!

    Hello

    > I just got myself a Kingston V series 64 GB SSD drive, but I can't it is detected by windows installers

Have you included the RAID driver in Windows before you tried to reinstall the OS?
On the European driver Toshiba page, you can find the RAID driver to be included when installing Windows installation.

    Regarding the change in BIOS RAID;
I m not very good, but it might be possible that you cannot change the reason the SSD RAID option.
If other drives are working properly and that the RAID may be changed using a common HARD disk the problem is related to the new SSD drive.

Maybe you need to update the firmware on the SSD drive to check it out.

  • After the migration to the new sshd, imovie now crashes whenever I try to open a project. All other applications are very good.

Yesterday I installed a new SSD in my MacBook Pro 13 "unibody mid-2012 laptop computer.

After installation, I formatted the drive, install a new copy, El Capitan, then moved the rest of my Time Machine backup.

The computer works great, much more quickly than before. Everything works perfectly except...

After migration, iMovie now blocks whenever I try to open a project. Every time. All other applications are very good. I even opened the original library from my old drive, opens the library of my Time Machine backup and they all down when I double-click on the icon for ANY project!

The files are not corrupt because they have not changed. It doesn't matter which library I use, it crashes whenever I try to open a project.

So far, everything on the Mac works fine. Other applications of Apple, everything! Please someone help me solve this problem because I use iMovie on a regular basis and have SEVERAL projects open that I can't afford to remove.

    Thank you!

    Hello Jon Tompkins,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

If I understand your message that iMovie crashes when you try to open a project. I know the importance of your projects are as I like to use iMovie as well. First of all, I would like to check to see that iMovie will appear in your shopping list in the Mac App Store. If so, delete the app and then reinstall it.

If this isn't the case, so do not delete the app. Instead, follow this link:

OS X El Capitan: If an application crashes or closes unexpectedly

Who also advises to test the problem in safe mode. This article includes the steps to start your MacBook Pro in safe mode:

Try safe mode if your Mac does not end commissioning

After having tested in safe mode, restart your Mac again and allow it to start up as usual. Then test the question again and see if it has not changed.

  • problem of migration of iMac iMac

Last night, I started a migration of my old iMac that I bought yesterday after the failure of the screen on the old to the new. I had bought two cables Thunderbolt with him but had lost to them so I their connected via firewire in the former via a Thunderbolt to the new adapter. When I got up this morning, the progress bar window shows 18 hours and 44 minutes to go with a speed of 20 MB per second. I checked once again not long after and now it says more than 8 hours, and I think that the data transfer rate was around 30 mbs. Later, I checked and now he showed 24 hours to go and I don't remember the transfer rate. Then, I checked it was 48 hours go and, more recently, 66, transfer rate 6 mbs. Why change the data rates?

Also, I found the Thunderbolt cables. I thought to cancel the migration and starting with Thunderbolt, but fear doing so could start a cascade of new problems. What will happen if I did? the data I transferred would remain? There are corruptions which would cause me problems? I would get any kind of dialog bar give me the option to ignore the already transferred elements? How can I easily determine what data was transferred at the time of the break, because it will probably be corrupted?

It is a fairly urgent question. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

If Cancel you the migration, then when you start you will get a second account migrated under a new name. If you have enough space on the disk and then once the migration is complete you can remove the incomplete user account. MY ends not an incomplete migration. It will simply ask provide you a new username for the account to be migrated.

  • My mail is migrated to a new system, server and they have adopted Microsoft Outlook which is terrible. I use Thunderbird for 20 years and loved.

When my main mail server migrated to a new system, they used Microsoft Outlook to organize my email. I used it for almost 2 months and it's awful. I would like to restore my old Thunderbird program. It seems to be working: I get the number of messages in my Inbox on the Thunderbird icon and an audio invites all new messages are received. The only problem is that I can't get in my mail because Thunderbird will accept none of the passwords that I offer (I only have three). Can someone please fix it so I can reset my password or have Thunderbird recognize one of my passwords? The main server wants to open a new account in Thunderbird, but it means that I lose all the data from the old account.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Your, Eugene Eoyang

Create folders in the "Local folders" intends to organize e-mail.

  • Problems to Windows 7 new SSD

I bought a HPE-170F with a 1 TB HARD drive and decided to add an Intel X - 25 M SSD 80 GB as drive operating system.  I didn't know that I would run into problems of displacement of the Windows 7 OS to the new drive.  I tried both possibilities.

First of all, I created with the disconnected original 1 TB drive and HP recovery discs, I tried to recover the OS to the new drive.  The 80 GB drive was already formatted and recognized in the BIOS.  Recovery failed when I received the error message that the new drive is smaller than the original drive.  Of course the 80 GB is large enough to contain the operating system and much more, but the recovery system know it is less than the original drive.

My another attempt was to create a system image since the 1 TB drive through Windows 7 and using the Windows repair disk C to try to restore that image on new 80 GB drive.  First of all, I reduced the original score from C to about 37 GB for it go below 80 GB disk size.  I managed to create the image system 5 DVD even if I created the ERD at that time here as I did previously.  With the 1 TB drive unplugged, I started with the Windows repair disk that went well until the moment he seems to start restoring image system and failed.  This time the error is "Not in the catalog (0 X 80780003) backup set".

My next thought is to try a third party software to prepare the original image of the disk system and use this software to clone to the new drive.  I wonder about a number of things.  One, the alignment will be correctly the 80 GB SSD using this method?  And secondly, will install a cloning of lead drive to other operation OS future headaches because he wasn't a clean place.

Any suggestions or experiences, that I can draw?  Thanks in advance.

Buy a third-party software like or similar to Paragon Hard Drive Management Suite of Imaging. Burn the disc to boot WinPE supplied with the product.   Download all partitions in combined on your main drive size to not be greater than your new SSD.  If you got your OS up to 37 GB then you should be in good shape.

Start the WinPE CD image, and an image of the hard drive (all partitions) to an external USB HD, CD/DVD media or hard disk 2 If you have two.  Turn off your PC and swap in the new SSD. Boot the WinPE image boot disk and then restore your image to your new SSD.

Once you get your SSD to start then go to management-> disk management computer, fully extend the screen and see how you can use to add may to your partition C of unallocated space.

I'd rather not use freebe products as they do not have the WinPE boot disk.

I guess it's something with the configuration, but beacause I am new in Oracle still have no idea...

Any help would be much appreciated

    I thank in advance

    Stefan

    Hello Stefan,

did you create the repository Migration of your database to Oracle (Tools-> Migration-> repository management)?

The SS2K5ALLPLATFORM package is usually created when you add the migration of the Oracle database repository and it contains the function StageCapture.

So please make sure that you have created a repository of migration in an Oracle database and associate it with the first step of your migration.
