Error "bad check sum"on Satellite Pro 405CS

I have a problem with a Toshiba Setellite Pro 405CS

Bad checksum (CMOS) *.
Check the system. Then press the [F1] key

This happens shortly after turning the power on and is the first thing that comes to the screen

Any ideas?

Thank you

Hello

Try to enter the BIOS and change the BIOS default settings. Then save settings and start again

But if it appears again, then you should try to charge the battery of the CCF.

Usually, you should find the information in the manual of the user how long the RTC battery will be charged.
Plug the power adapter and leave it for about 8-10 hours

  • error 0 x 00000024 on Satellite Pro 100

    Hello

I have an old Satellite Pro 100, handed one to nine.
I was loading a .iso file when my laptop crashed.
    I restarted to get to a blue screen with the error message 0 x 00000024, followed (0x001902FE, 0xFX7AAF380, 0xF7AAF07C, 0x86E74805).

He told me to restart the laptop and run chkdsk /f in command.
I started in safe mode with cmd, cancelled stpd.sys, which caused my laptop down and ran chkdsk/c (check) before I ran chkdsk /f (fix). It worked very well.
I then input the command chkdsk /f and cmd said that he could not access and lock on the drive. He asked if I wanted to run chkdsk /f on the next startup. I said yes and then restarted.
It came with the blue screen again, so I held the switch to turn it off, and then turned back on.
I loaded in safe mode with cmd and cancelled loading stpd.sys.
This time, there was a longer break, and I assumed that the laptop was running the command chkdsk/f function.
The laptop has rebooted spontaneously after that she 'finished', as far as I could tell, but once again to the front blue screen.
I also tried to use the command chkdsk /r (resolve), but that froze just of the laptop.
When I restarted the laptop, he returned to the blue screen.

Can someone tell me how to solve this problem, preferably without wiping my HARD drive, I read on websites who told me to use the chkdsk/f above method proposed my blue screen?

    Thanx

    Hi mate,

First of all, it would be interesting to know what model Satellite Pro 100, you exactly. Satellite Pro A100, Satellite Pro L100 or something else?

It's not easy to tell why you get thses blue screens, but have you tried a system restore to an earlier point? You can do this in the advanced boot menu (F8) where you can also choose Safe mode, etc.
    Check this box!

If this doesn t work I think you need to reinstall Windows. If there is a recovery disc supplied with your laptop you can use. This disk can restore factory in a few minutes and your laptop should work properly again. :)

  • Test media check out cable - Satellite Pro A10

    Hello

If anyone can help me, I would be most gratefull.
I just installed a Western hardrive digital 120 gig on a toshiba laptop Satellite Pro A10 on XP. at first start it comes up with this media test failure check cable.

It takes time to boot into windows, then the sound of windows appears about 10 seconds after office charge up. any help on this?

Also the DVD rom drive does not read DVD only CD.

    Model DVD is SD-R2412

And y at - it anyway tke that windows loads faster and it should install the driver sound max or the Realtek AC.

Can someone let me know ASAP thanks syclonus.

If you order the boot priority and start first of all of the HARD drive you will get this error more.
Then will the BIOS with the ESC key and change it.

Did you test different DVD in the drive? I think it might be a hardware problem. For a long time, I had a similar problem, my drive wrote DVD CD only.

There is a lot of advice how to make Windows faster. I can give you the same examples: defragment your HARD disk, check to see how many programs is in the msconfig startup folder. Disable or remove any programs you don't need.
In addition, you can disable all services that you don't need (run > services.msc). Make sure what you do, but I always disable updates automatic, Security Center, time Windows, help and support, themes and so far away.
Clean the registry. To do this, I always use the CCleaner tool. A very good tool and it s freeware.
And if make you faster Windows startup sound comes perhaps at the right time.

All the drivers, that you can get on the Toshiba site. It of not necessary to install one or several sound card drivers.

  • SD-C2612 IDE #1 error after wrong firmware update - Satellite Pro A10

    Hello
I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A10, which was flashed with wrong firmware (I don't know which because I don't).

I tried flashing with the right firmware (1315) but get the message to the Primary Master and Slave as "Not ATAPI Device" and "drive not connected".

NB: at the start, even with the deleted DVD ROM, I always get the #1 error IDE.

Update the bios to the latest version would help or is there all the options open for me to solve this problem other than to have recourse to the connection of pin 47 & 45? Would it even solves?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

    Best regards
    Angus

    > I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A10, which was flashed with wrong firmware (I don't know which because I don't).

Lol :D I have don t wonder you get the IDE #1 error message.
As you say yourself, you have flashed the drive with the wrong firmware. This has damaged the master/slave/c-salt settings of readers and so the BIOS doesn't recognize the CD/DVD drive. But I wonder why someone flashing the drive with a bad firmware?  :| We still know that a wrong firmware can damage the CD/DVD drive... and above all it is not necessary to update the firmware.

    > Update the bios to the latest version would help
The BISO update will not help you because you have already good BIOS and it s NOT a problem of BIOS, but the evil and not compatible firmware is stored.

    > or are there options open for me to solve this problem other than to have recourse to the connection of pin 47 & 45? Would it even solves?
I'm don't know if this helps, but I know that it is not desirable because it may damage the material of CD/DVD players

I recommend you contact the ASP in your country guys might revive the CD/DVD drive. Let's hope

    Hello

On the Toshiba driver European page you will always find the number pilot s versions and you can compare it with the s version of the driver installed on your laptop.

In addition the [Toshiba Tempro | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/generic/TEMPO_RELEASE/] application keep you abreast of software updates and the latest Toshiba driver as soon as they come out on the European driver Toshiba page.

But just a hint; If your laptop works without problem, then I would not change anything in the operating system. I'm always that notice; never change a running system ;)

  • Satellite Pro 405CS back to the stages of condition shipping factory & help

After weeks of searching US/Canada/Europe Toshiba sites, I've updated the Bios, & when I failed to get Toshiba Card Manager v1 or v3 (or Phoenix Card Manager "pcmplus3") to co-exsist w/WFWG 3.11 and give me access to an assortment of cards PCMCIA (PC Card), I decided to rename the win.com and winver.exe to ".old" files and used my OEM Windows 95 OSR2 CD-ROM to install on WFWG3.11.

All this seems to work very well so far, ALL areas of Device Manager are OK. Now, in the course of research, I ran across and downloaded a LOT of files, MagicDisk utilities Toshiba (utils - 20081002132221.zip & 20081002132720.zip - utils), manuals (400User1.exe) & (400User2.exe) so to download Europes from Toshiba (userman - 20081210140933.zip). When I couldn't find any referance to Toshiba for the software Infra red I found this TranXit Puma driver for infrared port. (z43t06a.exe) (z43206a.exe) (z43t06a.txt).

If you also for your 400 series, Google just the file name and a link should appear for download. On this Toshiba Europe site, I found also his especially Win95 and display and mouse Logitec, drivers yet the Win95 OSR2 installed sound drivers & looks great. I'm not sure should I apply the Windows 95 drivers? The best windows based Guide I found to date installed himself as ' "C:\docs\toshdoc."» "EXE" but the window is very small.

I have yet to find a PCMCIA USB card that actually works, rev 2.0 high-speed cards don't even fire upwards. Limited to 40 MB of memory and 75 MHz of CPU. The hard disk was exchanged for a 6 GB, 20 GB drive doesn't seem to be correct, bootdisk Windows Millennium FDISK says only 16 MB on an unpartitioned disk.

I write in this forum for advice and advice on what I can do to make the laptop seems as if she was like new. What I forgot to do?

    > I write in this forum for advice and advice on what I can do to make the laptop seems as if she was like new. What I forgot to do?

Looks like you didn't forget anything.
I recommend you to check the site all the updates Win 95 MS (if some updates are available for this old operating system).
It seems that you have also found most of the Toshiba drivers for this model.

The European driver Toshiba page also provides some drivers Win 95 for the Sat Pro 400 (very similar to 405).
On the page of the driver, you will need to choose Archive-> Satellite Pro-> Satellite Pro 4xx-> Win 95

Good luck with your laptop from the stone age :)

  • Satellite 2410-303 startup shows "bad check sum (ROM).

My toshiba before starting displays this warning (I press "Ctrl + Alt + Delete" and then it begins to start):

    Bad checksum (ROM) *.
Check the system. Then press the [F1] key.

What it means? I put the bios password of HW SETUP. My friends entered the wrong password nine times, and this message is displayed by the system. What should I do?

Also, I am closing the screen (it should turn to stand-by). When I opened the screen, nothing works. How can I solve this problem? If I format it, it can work normally?

    Hello

A "Checksum error/failure" can be caused by different causes. When this error is displayed while the unit boots, try this:
-keep the ESC button and start-up
-When the message "control system, then press [F1] key" product key F1
-After this, press the end key and confirm with Y (pay attention to hints Y and Z)

If the error is still there, it may be that the battery is empty or has to be replaced. The first thing you can do is to let the unit more than 48 hours on permanent power supply. Otherwise, what you should contact authorized partner service and CMOS battery must be replaced by a new.

  • IDE #1 ERROR at the start of Satellite Pro 2100 Series

Hello... I'm an IDE #1 ERROR displayed at startup of the computer. My CD/DVD player does not seem to be recognized (in the Device Manager the drive is not displayed) and certainly does not at all. I have installed a new CD/player player, this is the original factory supplied.

In addition, another clue is when I press one of the dvd control buttons on the front of the pop window - next up will appear:

"The setting of the drive in Toshiba controls is false. If the audio and video control buttons do not work. Please select the correct drive letter.for the internal CD/DVD drive.

However on the drop-down list there is no drive letter for choose!
Any help would be gratefully receieved. Thank you, Matt

    HI Matt,

It seems that your IDE controller is damaged. To ensure the safety of reading, you should recover the laptop with the Toshiba recovery Image and if the failure is on a new system of fees, the IDE controller is bad!

It may be possible that only the IDE cable is loose, but to kow that it would be better to put the laptop to a Toshiba Service partner!

    To bye daniel

    Thanks for your suggestions.

    Hello

It's very strange that keys can be responsible for this because, as far as I know, hotkeys are part of all images of Toshiba and I believe that in this case, he should train with the same effect on other units (series of different Notebooks).

I guess, like you, that some running process can be responsible for this. The configuration of your device doesn't know me and we don t know which applications on your device, but you should carefully check all running processes. Try to finish the processes running and watch carefully what happens.

The hardware configuration of your device is good and something like that should not happen.

    Good bye

  • Problems with the graphics card on Satellite Pro M10

Hi, this is my first post on the forum. I'm not a pro with computers or anything... the problem I have with my laptop is similar to the one in this thread:

    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=26849&TSTART=0

I spent half the day trying to figure out if my graphics card is broken, but since I'm a newbie with this stuff, I'm still not sure. :(

This is what makes my M10. I'm trying to describe the symptoms that detailed as possible, but I'm German, so please excuse my lack of words in some places.

    1. when I turn it on, the laptop goes through the BIOS and give me scrambled BACK-screens and a slightly Warped windows loading bar. There is the consistency check, marked by black bars connecting the top of the screen down. After the audit, the screen goes black and nothing happens, or the screen of will just show me consistency check, do nothing. Be that as it may, I have to turn off the power (I think) and restart the laptop.

    2. sometimes the laptop goes through the BIOS checking & conistency with a few graphical shortcomings. The office is anything but shredded when he gets to the screen of the Windows user. The static method is if serious I don't even know where is the button turn off.

    3. sometimes Notepad starts very well, with the only graphic problem being the windows loading bar. When I go into Windows, the laptop pulls me a blue screen and stops immediately.

    4. sometimes, the laptop works fine for about an hour or two. After I rebooted, I have the same problems listed above, once again.

    5. If I open Device Manager and disable the graphics card, the laptop works very well. I have to lower the screen resolution and colors, but I can watch videos on youtube and everything. Finally, the laptop gets very hot on the bottom and the screen goes crazy again, so I turn the damn thing off.

I don't know what that means! If my graphics card is broken, the screen should be all static, ALL the time? Not just sometimes more,... could sometimes less be some sort of communication problem between the graphics card and cpu? Please help me with this!

Another thing I'm not sure about, even after reading the thread I linked above - can I replace the graphics card or not? Everyone said something different in the other thread...

    see you soon,
    Cozmo

Edit: maybe I will add when I got the screen scrambled and everything. I installed Civilization 4, just to check if my satellite pro can handle, and everything went well for a while. The screen then haywire and I rebuilt my whole system, but display problems did not disappear completely. They were gone for almost a month, and now they are 'back' or something.

    Hi Cozmo

I'm not a technician but here nobody needs technical knowledge to see that there certainly is hardware problem. I also believe that this problem occurs due to the graphics card. Graphics card is part of the motherboard and it cannot be traded separately. The entire motherboard must be exchanged.

In my opinion, you have two options: either contact the authorized service provider in your country and speak with them, what can be done, or try to get the motherboard used. If you are lucky, you can find it on eBay. I already bought several hardware components for my old Satellite P10 on eBay.

Sorry Cozmo but I do not see any other logical solution for you.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite Pro 4360 - SSD boot via Cardbus (PCMCIA) possible?

    Hi all

I have an old 4360 SP.
Anyone know if an upgrade of BIOS 2.70 will allow me to boot from SSD inserted into the Cardbus pc card slot?
Just knowing the Bios will only recognize DVDs, HARD drive and FLOPPY drive as boot devices.

    Second question:

Please note that this upgrade memory depends on the chipset of s for laptop.
