Everyone is denying responsibility - Dell - Nvidia - Best Buy.  Only the element common to all validations is Vista 64 and drivers Nvidia or ATI, having problems with the drivers.  I ran Vista 64 for almost a year and not a mistake and now I have this one and can't get rid of it.

Everyone has a temporary solution that does not work.  I am not in contact with the clock speed and power source is 550w 450w 9800 GT enough.  I'm fine when not to use graphics card, but once I have a switch back to the graphics card the computer will crash just by going to control panel > Device Manager.

I pulled the wireless card in order to reduce energy consumption and got a few seconds before it would break, another that nothing has changed on the system with the exception of Windows updates.  I tried to revert to a previous version of patches, but the problem is not going away.  I did pilot clean removal and reinstall... nothing.  I deleted the nvlddmkm.sys and expanded the nvlddmkm.sy_ to replace and does still no help.  I even uninstalled the fix others suggested and that did nothing.

If I had to guess which seems to be the common thing only this problem so I guess that Vista is not correctly process the graphics drivers and causing the error code.

I knew I'd have stayed with XP, but it might be time to go back to the Mac.

If the system comes with the Nvidia card is the responsibility first of Dell, especially if the system is still under
warranty. BTW, don't assume that Mac don't have similar and perhaps even more frequent problems.

    Forums are full of posters indicating that it is a Vista / Nvidea incompatibility problem that has been around for years and that the problem is not treated. I tried everything I can think of, check the RAM to download new drivers, to the removal of unnecessary records of WOW. I reinstalled everything, run each diagnostic tool in the plane, patches downloaded, checked for the virus and still no help.

    I am currently able to play WOW on the smaller graphics settings and avoid cities. With this level of equipment, it's a shame, really, I should be able to do more.

    Did anyone have any suggestions of what I can do at this point?

    OK, I did a lot of research on this issue.  The problem lies in the Blizzard, most of the time.

    World of Warcraft is a set of 32 bits.  Because it is strictly 32 bit, it only has access to 2 gigabytes of memory.  Windows manages the other 2 giga of addressable space.

    Most of the developers of games flag their games before the compile time to use larger amounts of memory.  Blizzard doesn't do this, because their anti-cheat system and third-party tools rely on the 32-bit addressing and address 64-bit would mean that they must all be rewritten.

    What happens in the game, is that your footprint large capacity memory card is mapped in the game.  In general, it is when your settings are high, because it uses the most memory, which explains why the game is playable when you use minimal settings.  Given that the configuration of your particular graphics card uses close to 2 gig of RAM itself, quickly force you the game short of memory addressable space.

    To resolve this problem, you may be able to play with reduced settings.  Reduce your resolution is usually the best way to limit the use of memory, since it increases exponential use RAM when you increase the resolution.  You might have to play with different parameters.  You can open the upward Task Manager and monitor the use of your memory WoW game to see where the sweet spot is maintaining your memory under control.

    Blizzard will have to make the difficult choice to eventually allow access extended memory.  More people are buying equipment like yours, this problem will be more widespread.

    So, about a week ago I checked the nVidia website to see if there was no news available drivers for my card (XFX GeForce 9600 GSO) and there was. Installiation was simple then a restart. After reboot, I thought that I would play Call of Duty 4 and after 5-10 minutes of play my screen goes black and it appears with a small warning sign in the region of noticfication "display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and was recovered successfully."

    The pc will be a blue screen with a nvlddmkm.sys error or it goes off and nothing will work
    forcing me to turn off by the power button. I had never met moyenessentiel before you install the latest drivers.
    After looking for some fix on google, I couldn't find
    something solid. So I opened the Device Manager and clicked on graphics cards
    and redeployed the pilot.
    Still no luck. Most of the games I played this error still appeared. I tried all the drivers on the nVidia site
    that are suitable for my card. The drivers on thecd also included witht that card and they do not seem to work either.
    I installed the drivers with Windows Live OneCare disabled, disabled UAC and nothing running
    in the background, such as recommended by nVidia. Still nothing works. I have the Sims 3, Call of Duty 4,
    Call of duty: World at War, Halo 2 for Vista and HAWX installed. The only one
    game I havn't had the error is H.A.W.X
    I am running Windows Vista Home Premium authentic with all latest updates from Windows Update.
    Any ideas? This leads me through the wall...

    • 0x00000008 or Double fault, indicates that an exception occurs during a call to the previous exception handler. In general, two exceptions are handled in series. However, there are several exceptions that cannot be handled serially, and in this case, the processor signals a double fault. There are two common causes of a double fault

    CAUSE

    0x7F bug check occurs after the installation of a faulty or incompatible hardware (including memory) or if installed hardware fails.

    A double fault can occur when the kernel stack overflows. This overflow occurs if multiple drivers are attached to the same battery. For example, if two file system filter drivers are associated to the same stack and then again the recursively of file system, the capacity of the battery.

    Solve the problem

    Troubleshooting: If you have recently added the material to the computer, remove to see if the error recurs. If the hardware failure existing, remove or replace the faulty component.     Check the system log in Event Viewer for additional error messages that might help identify the device or driver that generated the error. You can also disable caching memory BIOS to try to resolve the problem.

    If you have encountered this error during the upgrade to a new version of the Windows operating system, the error can be caused by a device driver, system service, an anti-virus or a backup tool that is not compatible with the new version. If possible, remove all third-party device drivers and system services and disable all antivirus before upgrade you. Contact the software manufacturer for updates of these tools. Also, make sure that you have installed the latest Windows Service Pack.

    Finally, if all of the steps above do not resolve the error, take the system motherboard to a repair for the diagnostic facility. A crack, a scratched trace, or a defective component on the motherboard can also cause this error.

If I were you I would go down to XP and be happy that an operating system uses only 5% of the resources of the system and not as one with overloaded faecals 'window' which implies an operating system.

    Regarding your problem: Please try memtest and SuperPI or at least something that verifies your RAM/CPU on possible errors.

    But PLEASE please do it without this operating system called vista. Take rather the UBCD4Win to check your memory. The tool that comes as a downloadable image of www.ubcd4win.com is a live XP system with a bunch of tools on the bridge.

    Try it and then decide. Don t think that the side obscure (Vista), be a Jedi. (XP, linux) :)

    Here's my problem: every once in a while, I get the error message in the title, when reading older or newer games, such as FEAR or Gears of War. My laptop is a GX 700 MSI, 3 GB of RAM, 2.1 Ghz dual core CPU Intel Penryn with 8600 GT Nvidia graphics card. Don't DARE EVEN tell me I should do this and that and I need to search the forum or on the web or go to another M$ SupportCenter... was it made... Here is my list of research on M$ answers:

    I made all this possible described here: more recent nvidia drivers installed, placed my computer laptop in a cooler, conducted tests of RAM to find errors, wrote using MSI (which of course I redirected to software manufacturers) and even went to a dedicated support site Vista... but guess what? M$ is not accepting my activation key for Vista Edition home premium, despite the fact that it came with my laptop and it is 100% authentic... need proof? All updates for Vista are already installed, including the WGA, so there is no problem regarding this key... BUT M$ SUPPORT SITE SAYS THAT'S NOT GOOD! and so I can't continue in my futile quest for an answer to this old recurring problem, which gives not less than 11,300 links in Google... So bad, I didn't have the download option of the screenshot with the errors, I guess that it would have been the only laughable portion of this terrible experience...

    I want all you know that there is nothing wrong with my laptop. (Oh wait, I might have made a mistake: he now has Vista installed...)
