• 646 and 80070652 error codes

  My computer has tried and failed to install 6 upgrades for several days. I get the code 646 and previously obtained code 80070652.  any suggestions?

  Just bought new HP Pavilion dv6 laptop w / Windows 7 (x 64).  Installed Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007 with no problems.  Now, every time I sign off - computer same tent 9 implemented to date.

  Disable all Firewalls and try to install the updates and the stand-alone installation (download manually).

  Reset the Windows Update components

  OK... I had the same problem with the download of the 2007 Microsoft security updates. When I tried to install updates, I receive error 646. I finally solved my problem by going to the Download Center on Microsoft and I install manually.

  Here are the steps that I took... which I think should work:

  (1) go to the Microsoft Download Center: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx
  (2) look for each update code that begins with the letters "KB" and followed by a set of numbers (i.e. KB974234)
  3) click on the link for the download and then click on download and run. I think you have to accept an agreement, then click on continue or OK
  4) repeat for all downloads that you can not install
  (5) run Microsoft Update new and click search the updates and if updates have been installed successfully, they should no longer appear in the updates that must be installed.

  I don't know if it is not relevant or if it helped me succeed to install updates manually, but before I manually installed my updates I followed the instructions David_O posted here http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/f3390e74-9961-4aae-8a05-554c1a9cf1a2 . I suggest that first of all try to download manually by following my directions.   During the recent updates for 2 or 3 weeks: Office 2010 (KB2202188) 32-bit definition update Office 2010 (KB982726) 32-bit, OneNote 2010 (KB2288640) 32-bit, Outlook Social Connector (KB2289116) 32-Bit and update of security for Microsoft Works 9 (KB2092914) have failed to install.  I installed Microsoft Office 2010 on this 64-bit computer on the site in July of 2010. How can I get rid of these 32-bit updates and get the correct update as they try to install every time I have shut down my computer.  Unchecking them in the window updates to automatic update does not work.

  When I updated to Vista and MS Office 2007 using Windows updates, download updates, but do not settle, and the error is reported as 80246007 and 646.  I checked the "BITS" service settings that are good ('Automatic' and 'On the road') and the 'repair.bat' after having removed the temporary update files.  None of these solved the problem.  I use MS Security Essentials, but under Malware Protection Virus protection does not work and the message says "Microsoft Security Essentials doesn't have Security Center with a program to solve this problem". I know not whether that is related to the update problem or not.  Suggestions more?  Thank you.
