Error "could not initialize Photoshop because of a program error."

When I try to open Photoshop cc on my new Mac, I get a message error that says "could not initialize Photoshop because of a program error."

I brought all my data in front of my previous backup of my Mac hard drive.

I had this problem before.

How can I fix the problem?

Forgive me for asking what is obvious, but did you actually download and install Photoshop on your new computer?

The installation routine makes the necessary changes to your computer's system files.

With Adobe products, simply by moving Applications from one computer to another will not work.

  • Could not initialize Photoshop because of a program error. Once again

I believe that this question was asked several times but no seems to have an answer.

I'm getting an Adobe Photoshop CC when who to launch "could not initialize Photoshop because of a program error."

The error messesges of the PSErrorlog.txt are as follows:

    2014:03:07 11:49:35: Volumes/workarea/PS_14_Mac_Daily_Retail/20140207.r.570/photoshop/main/photoshop/xcode/... /sources/UActionsCore.cpp: 5206: REQUEST failed

It is an end of 2013 Macbook Pro with OSX 10.9 Mavericks perfectly up-to-date.  Photoshopp CC is listed as up-to-date in the CC Manager and any other Adobe application seem to be carried out.

Deleting the prefs and repeairing disk permissions have not helped.

    Any ideas?

    He has got to work!

I don't know why, but remove the 'Adobe Photoshop CC Prefs.psp"reinstall after that worked.  I remove before reinstalling and it did not help.

Best I can say is that the last update failed to install properly and in some sort the file above has been altered in the repair process.

    To sum up;

    -Save preference files

-Remove the preferences using the uninstall Applications and Photoshop file

-Quit and then relaunch cloud Creative Manager to update the list of applications

-Download and install Photoshop from the CC Manager

-Replace the workspaces and other necessary files excluding "Adobe Photoshop CC Prefs.psp" in the Preferences folder.

    Hi DanielDL,

Please open the finder, click go and select go to folder and type / library and press ENTER.

Go to the Application Support/Adobe/color and settings folder and rename it to settings.old

Then try to run Photoshop and check if the problem persists.

  • "Could not initialize photoshop because"scratch disks"is full."

"Could not initialize photoshop because"scratch disks"is full." This is the error message that appears when I try to open my Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0. I just installed this program on my new HP Pavilion model h8-1214, which has 1.8 TB of space with 10.0 GB of RAM. I have read the forums on this problem, but they say how to solve the problem through Photoshop. How can I fix the scratch disk settings without being able to open Photoshop? Please help me with this problem of the Adobe Support team will not even answer my question...

    Thank you.

By far the simplest solution is to upgrade to photoshop elements 10 or newer, which has no problem with big hard drives and has some new features you may like.

It is available for a 30 day trial.

In fact the pse versions 3 and later versions have no problem with large hard drives.

Here are some things you can try that might work:

Option 1: Just after the double click on the PES shortened 2 press the Ctrl + Alt keys and press and hold keys until you get the scratch disk Preferences dialog box

then choose your recovery as the first partition. This only works if you have a recovery partition or another hard drive smaller installed that you can use as the scratch disk.

(I don't have a partition recovery on this computer)

Option 2. Retractable (shrink volume) present HDD up to 1 TB

Option 3: If you have windows 7 pro or ultimate, you can use virtual xp (download from microsoft)

  • has could not initialize photoshop because of a problem using the engine of color adobe (Win 7)

Running the latest version of Photoshop CS5 and added a second quad and 4 monitors graphics card more.  Now the PS does not start and I get the error message "could not initialize photoshop because of a problem in using the adobe color engine."
Computer has 2 cards NIVDIA Quadro4 NVS420 graphics with 8 monitors Samsung SyncMaster 1920 x 1080.  If I turn off 4 monitors for CS5 to start normally.  I don't have to remove the extra graphics card.  When I extend the desktop again to all 8 monitors I get the above error.

How do I troubleshoot the problem?  It's Photoshop, NIVDIA or Windows 7?

A display profile is corrupt (in the sense that we've not seen before), or the OS color engine is returning false data about the installed profiles and displays.

My guess is that it's the operating system and displays.

It could be a driver issue, but I suspect it is the operating system.

  • "Could not initialize Photoshop because the disk is not available."?

I've been happily turn Photoshop CS (1) on my Powermac MDD for years.

But today, she is facing upward.  Here's the problem: I get the error message "could not initialize Photoshop because the disk is not available."

I have studied this problem and see that it's been covered in the thread:
    http://forums.Adobe.com/thread/370672?start=0 & tstart = 0

So I trashed preferences and the SFW prefs also.
Now Photoshop starts... BUT as soon as I go into the preferences and assign a scratch disk, he failed once more to throw with the same error: "could not initialize Photoshop because the disk is not available."

I tried to slide on the copies of the utility Photoshop of my backup disk files... but the same strange behavior persists.

My Scratch disk is on a second internal hard drive.

This all started when I had to restart from OS 9 order to use my SCSI scanner, which only has an OS9 driver.
I used it for years with no problem... until today.

Was it because once I saved the file in Photoshop 4 and OS9 on an OSX file that somehow the preferences got screwed up?

    Popular clues...

work drive must be HFS +.

also check the permissions of the property in the Infolog to get for the reader scratching. You may need to ignore permissions for this volume.

Everything I try to open my CC photoshop I get "could not initialize photoshop because an unexpected end of file has been detected" is this someone knows how to fix this?

I think the fix for that we should reset the preferences in Preferences > general.   I really hope it works, because I hate to put things the way I like them after a reset of preferences.

    Good luck
