  If you receive Windows Update error 6d9e while installing SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3 by using Windows Update, it means that the installation folders and directories are compressed or encrypted.

  To fix this problem, make sure the folder locations where you are installing the service pack to aren't compressed or encrypted, or specify a different folder and then run Windows Update again.

  Therefore, remove the compression of the DATA directory and run together to the top again.

  Remove compression from the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server folder and see if you are able to install the updates without any problem.

• Impossible to install an update from windows. Error message is - Windows Update error 80073712

  XP OPERATING SYSTEM

  Browser: IE 8
  Last week, I reinstalled OS number thinking there was something wrong with the construction. only to find out it's MS SP3
  I ran a number of correction it tools and tried a number of things from another post here on this issue.

  I have install SP1 and then SP2 and tried to make an update live from there.

   
  

  I can see Background Intelligent Transfer Service in the services, it is stopped when I click to start the system, I get error Error2 cannot find the specified file.

  One difficulty he said pop - up, I had a Service agent running.

  Bring up a command prompt and type "proxycfg-d" to clear the cache of the proxy.

  Type "net stop wuauserv" to stop the automatic updates service.

  Delete the content of the C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution.

  Return to the command prompt and type 'net start wuauserv' to restart the automatic updates.

  Now try Windows update again.
