Error message 80240016

I have read several other discussions about this error and have tried each of the solutions to get out a little bit of luck to all. This error appears every time that the automatic update process begins and there is a pop up that says that Windows cannot check the updates. I tried to stop and start the update service and followed many of the other instructions.

This has happened since I got the Dell PC.
Can I have it please help with this?

The error 80240016 you receive occurs if a client from Windows Update or Microsoft Update client cannot access the user's token.

Here's a Ko, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957307 , that describes this error and some suggested steps for the solution.   If please run through this article and follow the steps for the method of Windows Vista.  Also, if she doesn't show any will, lets try the following steps.

Since you are working on this issue for some time now, and State tried the information highlighted on this other forum messages error, please forgive me if these steps have been completed, but let me know what was found after completing these steps, if an error or what has been lived.

  1. Try to run in a command prompt:

    sfc/scannow

  1. If sfc / scannow completed without errors, please try to make updates to a clean boot.

Here are the steps to update one at a time

  • Click on start-> all programs-> Windows Update, click on change settings in the left menu. Select download updates but let me choose whether to install them, click OK. When you are alerted to install a new update, in this window, click updates see, uncheck all updates and select one at a time, install it, restart your computer, test and update.

If updates are working, go back to KB331796 and bring the services online one at a time.
