Error on Satellite A200 of hard disc

I have a Satellite A200 which has a hard drive error on a critical reading windows file. I tried to load the recovery CD and it goes to a point and crashes. Is there a way I can reformat or force a reformat the C: drive? Any help gratefully received. Under Windows XP. Bill.

Hello!

I agree with Akuma. If your HARD drive is defective sectors they can t be repaired and the only way is to swap the HARD drive.
But before you exchange the brand HARD drive of course she has bad sectors and operate the Drive Fitness Test.

In addition, I recommend making a backup of all important files on the HARD drive, such as photos, documents and to this day.

But don t worry, s HDD are cheap these days so it s not an expensive repair. ;)

Good bye

    Hello

If the HARD drive is not recognized by the BIOS or other laptops, then I would say that your HARD drive is defective.
In this case, you need to replace the HARD drive.
In this case, you will not be able to start the recovery procedure from the HARD drive because it works badly as he has already said

  • Is the standard Satellite A200 product recovery disc?

It is very regrettable that after reinstalling the product of my Satellite A200 recovery disc, the language is now in Deutsch. Since I got the recovery disc to the center of Toshiba for a replacement, do you not thank they will be replaced by an English version? If so will be affect the entire notebook in its performance, or perhaps a program previously connected may have disappeared or missing.

The product recovery disc is standard for the same unit of model because there is that no product key required?

SP1 = Service Pack 1. This package has been designed by Microsoft and contains all useful and patches hotfixes. All this is designed to repair the operating system and make it better and safer to be used again.

At this time you should not install SP1. It may happen that some problems may occur after the installation of SP1. Toshiba didn't start load SP1.

The A200 Satellite is equipped with a SATA HDD.

If you want a new HARD disk, you should a 2.5 HARD drive SATA interface. In addition, you can buy a HARD drive with SATA2 interface because it s downgrade compatible to SATA1.

  • Help to find the driver on the Satellite A200 (PSAE6) HARD disk controller

Greetings. This text has been written through a translation program, to try to understand :)

    Problem:
My friend bought a few days back to herself TOSHIBA Satellite A200 (PSAE6) where it has been established operating system Windows Vista Home. He asked me to change OS on Windows XP Pro. With the first problem I have consulted - have deleted Vista, but to set up XP is not possible due to the absence of the HARD disk controller driver in the OS distribution kit. Windows Installer cannot find the HARD drive. I read that it is necessary to load the driver during Setup, press the F6 key. But a problem I can't find the driver in that.

We have no disk with drivers that should go with a computer and therefore it is necessary to search independently on the Internet. On the Toshiba site to locate the pilot, it was not possible. Then I came to the Intel site and download "RAID/AHCI - Intel® Matrix Storage Manager» After unpacking I got only «infinst_autol.exe» archive

    Question:
Where can I download this driver (not a "EXE" format) that can be used during the installation of Windows XP?
    PS: a chipset - Intel PM965 Express

You can use nLite software to create a new XP CD and include drivers SATA (Intel Storage Manager) on this new CD of XP.
The nLite is a freeware software and you can find and download from many Web sites.

    Google is the key ;)

  • Error on Satellite A200 PSAF6A ATIKMDAG

    Hi all
I have a problem with my laptop I hope that someone out there may have found a solution. I would also like to hear if anyone has the same problem.

When the portable computer to a screen using external (in both VGA & DVI connections), with the extended desktop on 2 screens (laptop monitor & ext), I am constantly messages "display driver has recovered from a mistake" ATIKMDAG. These flash up to 3 to 5 times then the PC blue screens.
A google search indicates that this is a common problem with Vista, but it is not a solid solution.

When Vista tried to automatically find a solution, he suggests that there is a problem with the display driver. Have you tried to update the driver and bios from the support site of toshibas, without success.

    any thoughts?

    TSK... SYDMat

    Hello

The file what ATIKMDAG belongs to the ATI graphics driver and in my opinion the driver is a reason why this problem appears.

I have an also a laptop satellite with an ATI graphics but I didn t notice of such problems using a single external monitor.
I assume that the use of two ports output video and two different external monitors is the reason why the graphics driver crashes.

Maybe it does not support fully the use of 3 screens (laptop + 2 x external monitor) at the same time!

You can check if using 2 monitors (laptop + 1 external monitor) at the same time causes the same question.

    Hello

As mentioned above, the laptop came with the 4200 RPM HARD drive but you can also use a HARD drive that supports a higher value. The 5400 RPM is possible.

Portable memory modules also support the DDR2 667 MHz (PC2-5300).

  • Satellite A200 - recovery disk will install Windows?

I have Toshiba Satellite A200. Hard drive is dead and he changed a new.

If I buy the product recovery disc will be functioning and install windows vista family premium provided with the machine?

    Hi spiropi,

Yes, the Toshiba Recovery disk will install the original operating system supplied with the notebook. Toshiba Recovery disk always works, even you changed the HARD drive. The disc contains an image of the settings from the factory with all the drivers and tools, then everything will be installed automatically and you get out of adjustment of the rear housing.

Thus, you can order such a disc and you can the original settings on your new HARD drive. :)

  • Satellite A200 wont work CD

I use an A200 since 2007. Perfectly, it manages all types of DVD but recognises all types of CD blank.
I am unable to write the CD as well.

The writing process ends smoothly and the CD is ejected then. But when I insert the CD into any computer it is empty.

    Salman

    > The writing process ends smoothly and the CD is ejected then. But when I insert the CD into any computer it is empty.
If I understand your question, the Satellite A200 recognizes all disc correctly and can burn the CD as well but the OTHER computer recognize the CD in a vacuum.
    Is this good?

Well, I advise to use another brand of CD discs!
Try and test the different CDs from different manufacturers.

First of all I thank you in advance for your help.

I had a Satellite A200 without HARD drive, so I installed Vista 64 bit in a new empty drive... all right but the built-in Chicony camera is missing in the device Mannager, I tried to reinstall windows and the latest Version of the software assistant camera and nothing happens :-(
Do you think it could be a hardware problem? I don't know if I have something to connect to the motherboard.
    Thanks again for your response.
    Have a nice day: p

    Hi Kelly_Johanson!

You may notice some unknown devices in the Manager of devices or yellow exclamation? Maybe you didn't install the driver for the webcam. I put t know what Satellite A200 you exactly because the Web from Toshiba site shows different models A200 but normally you can download the driver you need on the Toshiba page:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

In addition some A200 models there are different versions of the BIOS available, one for 32-bit and one for 64-bit. So check the site Web of Toshiba for an updated BIOS.
