• can't play videos of espn/fox

  I use to watch videos ESPN streamed in FF.
  I have the latest version of FF (41.0.2) and the inactive sites are espnplay.com and foxplay.com.
  It is not a problem with my cable provider because I am able to videos in Chrome.
  In fact, this problem started a few weeks; until then I could watch videos in FF as well.
  I don't have a problem streaming videos from youtube.com or any other website for that matter.

  I found a culprit, my friend! (I wonder I should have better things to do on a Saturday night, but... it is not subject of this thread)
  It's here: HTTPS everywhere.
  In fact, I didn't even need to turn it off, but just to turn off one of its rules for the ESPN site. The rule in question is called "Conviva (partial).
  I have no idea what is on (very common when playing with the unknown substance).
  In case it is useful for certain analyses, the eight other HTTPS Everwhere for the ESPNPlay.com site rules are:

  I use Mavericks 10.9.5 on an iMac and a MacBook Pro.  On two of them, my widget Dashboard ESPN stopped to retrieve news and notes several days ago.  I tried to delete/re-installing and renewing the widget using the key command-R, without success.  I guess that ESPN could have stopped support and focuses only on its mobile apps.  I use these apps, so if I'm stuck with the widget does not, so be. But I found the useful widget then to my office for a quick glance at the sports headlines.

  A search of this forum has not revealed to someone else to complain about the loss of function of the widget, perhaps because most people do not use it.  I'm curious to know if anyone has come across this problem, or if you have heard of ESPN dropped the widget support.

  We just bought a whole new AppleTV and installed the app "watch ESPN." We receive our cable service from Comcast/Xfinity.

  When a better internet provider arrives, we want to cut the cable with Comcast. About the only thing I watch regularly on cable's ESPN SportsCenter. Currently I TiVo the last 3 shows SportsCenter, so that someone ' random time, I wish, I can watch the last episode and zip through the ads (love this feature!).

  I have the app "watch ESPN' working on AppleTV, but is it possible that for"TiVo"(as a verb) on a regular basis and store the last 3 shows SportsCenter and then call them up later on the Apple TV? The idea being that if possible I can finally bag Comcast and TiVo and get the same benefits from the AppleTV and the app "watch ESPN'?

  No, you can not save (Tivo) anything using the Apple TV and you can't use an external device to save (Tivo) whatever it is Apple TV. The Apple TV is strictly to watch "on demand" content. If the service to watch ESPN does not include the possibility to watch the events that have taken place in the past then you will not be able to do with Apple TV.

  Just installed an cool new Apple TV4. Netflix works very well when you click on the 'Watch ESPN' app, however, crashes just by clicking on the app - it never opens. Nothing happens. Is this a problem Xfinity?

  Remove and reinstall the application.

  It will need your cable account credentials, but should be open to allow you to enter.

  Thanks for the reply.  Thought about it however.  I got to thinking of the "Security sandbox Violation" error message, which made me wonder if it could be a problem with my firewall.  It updates all the time and so was one thing that may have changed recently (Flash worked fine on ESPN until yesterday).  Of course, that was the problem.  I use Pro of Agnitum Outpost, but I was still with version 7.  So I tried to upgrade to the latest version (8) and my disapperared Flash problem.  Same settings, such that she kept them through the upgrade, so I don't know what it is.  It's gone now, so I'm happy.  It was crashing on any content Flash on ESPN. Worked well everywhere else I tried.  I tried IE, Firefox and Chrome, all latest versions.  Same thing on each of them.  The last Falsh released, even tried this beta version, the same thing.  I use Windows 7 Version 6 (Build7600).
