Estimate the time required to upgrade the h/w VM

Hello

It is finally time to upgrade my VI3.5.

I expect the downtime required for virtual machines.

Could someone advise, your past experience, the amount of time required to upgrade each VM h/w?

Or which could be used to estimate as a point of departure for me?

Appreciate your help.

mbx369,

We passed one of our sites from 3.5 to 4 last week. We had planned for 1 hour of downtime, and in the end, there were about the same downtime as a reboot. There should be minimum downtime for your virtual machine, if you want to be upgrading the current hosts using the same hardware, you can put all your guests on a single host... upgraded to another, and then add the virtual machine to the new inventory of the hosts. I hope this helps!

  • Estimate the time between two computers

    Hello, everyone.

    I want to develop a program for communication between two ip addresses:

    IP1: 192.168.1.100

    IP2: 192.168.1.101

    Suppose IP1 is the server IP2 is the Viewer, then I want to put in place a program to estimate the elapsed time for IP1 contact IP2, but I don't know how to do.

    Also, I want to display the elapsed time for the connection (which varies due to fluctuations in the internet), performing actions such as continuously 'ping' the receiver from the server. Can someone show me the way to achieve this? Thank you very much.

    Best regards

    How about using ping?

    Insert the output in an analysis of string to read the value you need. Sorry my OS is in German so you have to adapt ;-)

  • cannot update Windows XP (KB2345886). What is the time required to download "fix It."

    I downloaded the fix to resolve the problem. It is said that difficulty it will not work with our runtime. Q - What is the time required for an alternative for the update above. Thank you

    Hi TorahHavurah,

    For two updates install, have you tried to download directly to install.  You can go here for KB2718704 and you can go here for KB2345886.

    For the .NET error, I suggest to try for the .NET Framework cleanup tool to see if that helps.

    I hope this helps!

  • Estimate the size of backups rman & time

    Hi DBAs,

    ENV: 11 GR 2, Windows Server 2008, 64-bit, = 12 GB RAM,

    DB size = 370 GB., CMS = 5 GB, EAMA = enabled.

    We need to move this database to the 2012 Windows Server that runs on Hyper-V.  You guys you will suggest what are the best methods to move with limited downtime?

    If we opt for RMAN, is it possible to measure to estimate the size of the backup? (at least, approximate size) and how long it takes to finish?

    Please, share your ideas!

    It depends on many factors

    1 size of SGA
    2 amount of memory swapped
    3 number of data files
    4 number of connected sessions

    If you have this in place, Yes, Oracle will be stop during OS downtime with immediate stop

  • How to identify the time required to run a package

    Hi all

    Is the method without TKPROFF to find the time to run a package that calls a procedure.

    for the examples

    Lets say I run a packaage to SQLplus window

    SQL > Execute my_pack.bal_proc;

    (It took some time may be 4 hrs according to my watch).

    At this point if I want to find the time by a sql command that after running the package, which was the time.

    can someone help me find a query which tell what was the time required to run a package.

    Thanks n rgds
    Saaz

    Before execution:
    SET TIMING ON

    Then run your procedure. For example:

    SQL> SET TIMING ON

    SQL> Execute my_pack.bal_proc;

    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.

    Elapsed: 00:00:00.00

  • How to write a function to estimate the number of rows returned SQL?

    How to write a function to estimate the number of rows returned SQL through SQL Execution Plan?
    My idea is
    Call dbms_sql.parse to create the SQL PLAN, then ask the PLAN for the number of estimated return lines.
    But how to get SQL plan through "id cursor?
    Thank you.

    You can use EXECUTE IMMEDIATE to explain plan statement. About the STATEMENT_ID generation, it could be anything. Even a SYSTIMESTAMP cast as TANK would work.

  • Estimate of time for CTAS

    Hello
    I'm looking for a long time to find a way to estimate the time of execution of the orders of the ETG. I'm a DBA. Our users are running DEC orders to charge millions of rows. Commands extract the data from 4-5 very large tables each with millions of records and process them using where clause and group by clause and finally to create the table. All these things are coded in the order of the ETG. These CTAS sometimes takes a lot of time as 5, 8 Hrs. users frequently ask me to find how long it will take. I use the OEM and the TOAD. But I couldn't find the estimated time for these tools. I think there must be a way, but I do not know the method.
    Can any body please help me in this regard?

    Thanks and greetings

    I started using the method of table surface and looking at the value of column time to estimate the execution time long-running queries. For the first test case, it gave me good estimate. But for the 2nd case today, the plan for a DEC showed the value of the column time as around 40 minutes wherever the ETG was already running for 1 hour 45 minutes. If the value of column time is not estimate this matter correctly.
    Please suggest why this might be happening?

    That's why I said at the beginning

    "Of course, the optimizer estimates are only estimates and are not as accurate as the database statistics that are in place." If the optimizer generates a bad plan, it is likely because the optimizer expects an operation to take much more or much less time that it in fact in this case the runtime optimizer estimate is likely to be far. »

    Even in the best of cases, the optimizer estimates will be rough. If statistics are imprecise, estimates of the cardinality and runtime optimizer may potentially be off by a bit. You will have to dig into the specific query plan to see where the optimizer estimates do not go and then to understand the statistics are misleading it. Most likely, you will find statistics on a column, other tables, or some indexes are updated but you might also find a column that has need of a histogram, statistics system that is obsolete or a myriad of other possible sources of error.

    Isn't time that Microsoft has put some of their skills as computers immediately when starting lit instead of focus on trying to outdo all other systems with stuff
    By the way, I have the same comment on the closure, it takes some time to completely close down--another point for Microsoft to put the attention

    Unfortunately, the processor is just at the level of the minimum required. In addition, RAM is 4 GB, in which folder page size will be approximately 8 GB. Norton 360 scans all files prior to execution, even if it's a system file. This is the reason for the delay.

    Try to upgrade the processor and the rest will be solved.
  • Is there a limit on the number of times you can upgrade an ESXi host?

    We have VMware hosts that have been updated to ESXi 4.1 5.1 using the Update Manager.  Wouldn't we be ok to update these servers ESXi 5.5 or 6.0 without having to do a fresh install and reformat?

    Thank you

    I don't know if there is a limit to how many times where you can upgrade, but the upgrade to ESXi 4.1 to 5.1 and 5.5 is supported and works (I just tested it in my lab).

    For reference, here's the relevant articles;

  • Why the total time required for the test sequence is different during the test runs

    Hello

    -J' have different test resources to test our product which includes engines and the NOR-Box (6351).

    -Number of test files in sequence that are called during the test (ca. 20)

    -The problem is that when I run these test sequence files separate (say only 3 out of 20), total time by these tests are t1, t2 and t3, but when - I left all 20 tests to run without jumping all the time needed by the 3 tests above is t1 + 60 s, t2 + 80 s and t3 + 50sec. Why it is so and how can I avoid this problem.

    -The tests are motors to move, take samples or box then save them on my computer after testing the limits. Since they are time critical, when I do all the running tests in a test go a lot do not PASS. I can't run them separately because it takes more time, more interference by user and also more than one report that is not desired.

    -J' tried unloading after execution steps, but it did not help.

    Kind regards

    RB

    This probably depends on that made your sequence. Have you tried shrink where extra time is being spent? You can time how long different parts of your sequence are following the steps of the expression as follows:

    Locals.StartTime = Seconds()

    Locals.ElapsedTime = Seconds() - Locals.starttime

    You can also watch time module in your reports. There is nothing specific on TestStand that should cause some sort of slow down like this. I recommend trying to figure out where the extra time is being spent. I suspect once you do, the cause will become obvious.
