ESX 4.1.0 vCLI during backup of the configuration error

Hello

I have an Esx 4.1.0 Build 260247, when I try to do the backup of the configuration with the command vicfg - cfgbackup.pl - Server < insert the IP address of the name of the server here > s < where you want sauvΘs > in my PC with vCLI 4.1, but I got an error:

"Operation not supported on this host."

Vmware Backup configuration error.jpg

I tried with different parameters, but it's the same mistake.

I had tried with vCLI 5.1 and 4.1 vCLI.

The server has open port 22.

Note: I have 5.1 Esx servers and I can do backups of configuration.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

vicfg - cfgbackup.pl is only supported on embedded platforms.

  • Backup has encountered a problem during backup of the C:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop\music file. Error: (System does not find the specified path. (0 x 80070003))

I had to uninstall iTunes a few months ago and successfully re-installed, but part of my music was missing.   At one point, following the instructions on a thread on the forums Apple or Microsoft, I saved my music library on the desktop. Since then, I do not have a library of music on the desktop file.  In my looooooong hours trying to fix things, I do not know if I deleted it or what.

    Now, I get the message:

"Backup has encountered a problem during backup of the C:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop\music file. Error: (System does not find the specified path. (0 x 8007003)) "whenever I have backup my computer.

As I understand it, that does not affect really any other files, they rely on the spot (I think), but

    Hi serene,

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

As indicated by the error, this problem appears, when these files/libraries that are saved automatically are not present on your computer. I suggest you to follow the steps below and check, if it can help solve the problem.

    • Create missing files that are listed in the error message.
    • Exclude files from the files to backup in the backup settings and then include these files in their original location. To exclude folders in other communities and to include these files in the original location, follow these steps:
      1. In Control Panel, open backup and restore.
      2. In the section back up , click change settings.
      3. In the dialog box Configure the backup , click Next.
      4. In the dialog box that you want to save , click Let me choose, and then click Next.
      5. Expand data files, library, expand additional locations, and then click to clear the check boxes folder AppData, Contactsand Research .
      6. Expand computers, expand the element of your system drive (for example, expand Local disk (c)), expand users, , and then click to select the checkboxes AppData, Contactsand Research if they exist.
      7. Click Next, and then click Save settings and exit.
      8. Backup and restore, click back up now to perform a new backup. The backup operation must complete without errors.

If the problem persists, I suggest you follow the steps in the following article for troubleshooting backup problems.

    Hello

You did changes to the computer before the show?

These problems occur because the folders or libraries that you are trying to back up or restore include a reparse point. Analytical points are similar to shortcuts Windows or Unix symbolic links. A point of analysis can be used to point to a file that is moved temporarily to a different drive.

    Hey Amer,

You can ignore this error message. You would usually encounter this problem if the Windows Backup tries to back up files in folders LocalLow, Contacts and research and these files are not present on your computer.

Well, you also have an option to create or exclude files missing, listed in the error message.

If you want to exclude this folder then please refer to the following steps.

    (a) in the backup section, click on "change settings".

    (b) in the dialog box Configure the backup , click Next.

    (c) in the 'you want to save ' dialog box, click on 'Let me choose ', then click on 'Next '.

    (d) navigate to the user profile folder displayed in the error message and clear the check box next to the folders.

    (e) save and exit.

    Hope the helps of information.

  • 4.1 Data Migration tool - "error: failure of the backup of the configuration of the vCenter Orchestrator.

While following this KB article, I came across an error.  I googled a bit but it is really not a lot on that.  This process took me the better part of a month to get to this day.  Now all I have to do is migrate my databases and settings...  However, as with everything else I came against from 4.0 to 4.1 (and building a new server to do), nothing seems to be going my way with this project.

Anyway, I executed the script of backup.bat several times and each time, it failed in the same place.  The error given is "error: failure of the backup of the configuration of the vCenter Orchestrator."  The log file has been attached.  I rebooted, made sure that all VMware services have been arrested and still no joy.

Any help would be great!  If this isn't the case, I'll have to make another call to the support team.  I played with VMware products for years and I've never had to call until this project came.  In this month alone, I opened 4 tickets!

I'm almost certain that this can be ignored without risk, especially if you do not use Orchestrator.  I recently made a 4.1 migration to another server and got the same error - I had any issues at all.

  • How to make a backup of the configuration of the ucs periodically?

    Hi all.

    Happy new year!

I have a small question about backup config to UCS.

    UCS supports autobackup periodical configuration?

    David,

UCSM currently does not support this.  If you have an XML script, you can do it with 3rd party tools however.

    Hello

Which application do you use to make a backup?

These problems occur because the folders or libraries that you are trying to back up or restore include a reparse point.
Analytical points are similar to shortcuts Windows or Unix symbolic links. A point of analysis can be used to point to a file that is moved temporarily to a different drive. For example, a reparse point would a folder such as C:\DVD to point to drive E, the real DVD player.

Perform the steps from the link below and see if the backup works.

    Windows backup or restore 0 x 80070001, 0 x 81000037 or 0 x 80070003 errors

  • PSE8 - during backup: "Error encountered while writing to the file."

I have 3 catalogues that I needed to do a full backup on an external hard drive. Two of saved catalogs fine. The 3rd backup led the message 'Error when writing file encuontered.'. I did a repair and re-indexing on this catalogue without result. The external hard drive has plenty of space: > 400 GB.

The faulty catalog had a full backup, it made about one month, on the same external hard drive there and there has been no change to it. I want to make the backup to keep all 3 catalogs stored in phase on the same date.

The error message does not say what was the specific error or what file it tried to write. The backup failed had written 17 324 files. The directory with the old full backup on the same catalogue has 19 755 files so backup was not quite over yet.

Can someone suggest a plan of attack. I saw several other threads posted here with similar experiences, but no solutions were provided. Is there some sort of systemic problem with the backup program? Thank you.

Glad you solved the problem and thank you for sharing the details.

Several methods of backup is an excellent practice.

    function() {return A.apply (null, [this] .concat ($A (arguments)))}

And if Adobe reads this forum, they should put more detail in their error messages indicating why it was a mistake and just say there was a mistake.

It is a common problem in the PSE.  The conversion process of the catalog may quite mysteriously fail with the useless message "conversion failed" - just provide the details of what went wrong would have saved many, many hours of mourning people (and may have helped Adobe retain more customers).

  • Backup has encountered the device error IO problem (0x800745D)

I read a lot of posts about this problem that I have now been met for the past few months, but mainly through my own limited computer knowledge I was unaware that my computer (under W7 home) works ok otherwise. I saved very little data, some pictures, some docs, a storage of e-mail in folders, but not much. Actually my backup size is less than 10 GB. I encountered the problem that I save on a portable hard drive or just stick flash.

The problem occurs each time the same backup file, and I quote the following message "Backup has encountered a problem during backup of the C:\Users\ComputerName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WebCache\WebCachev01.dat file.

Error: the request could not be performed because of an I/O device error (0x8007045D)

Every backup I do on a weekly basis has this message tell now that reverse was completed but with this file.

I worry about anything? With the next update to W10 and if I go with her, I would like to backup at 100%. Can anyone provide a possible solution to put my mind at rest?

    Thank you very much.

You are welcome. Thanks for the comments. Good luck & keep us updated. Yes, good idea to make backups.

This is the main configuration of ESX.

Another way to do, that it is instead of the backup of these config files you could always create an installation script for ESX, so that if your host is dead he would have just run the install script and it needs to configure your host without having to do a restore.  Although this does not mean now this script every time you make a config change in ESX. So there are advantages/disadvantages for the two solutions
