ESXi 4.1 reinstall without loss of data in the system data store
Hello world
because of incorrect tape device configuration (see more low http://communities.vmware.com/thread/289847?tstart=0), I have to reinstall Esxi 4.1 in the same place where the system partition is also home to the Oracle data disk (I didn't have the choice because the system starts on the table of great raid with SSDS, there was no such thing which allow me to pre partition the RAID disk into several partitions and choose) only a small partition to install ESXi files), what happens if I reinstall ESXi with the method of "REPAIR"? will be large files within the system data store destroyed or intact? Help, please. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
When you do a normal installation of ESXi, the whole installation drive is wiped regardless of the existing partitions that exist. With a repair only install ESXi system partitions are left. Any data store must be perserved and after the repair, you can save any virtual machines that were welcomed on this data store. If the repair not proceed with the installation (for example, if the data store exists in the first 900 MB of storage), then you will get a warning in this sense and a new facility (wipe the entire disk) is performed.
So with a repair, you should be fine, but I want to take a backup without worrying.

ESXi 4 re - install without loss of data on data warehouses separated, local
I have an ESXi 4 installation home with 3 SATA drives installed with 3 data stores.
1 data store is empty and is on the disc used to install ESXi (I intend to format this drive and re - install ESXi)
My question is now: I would be able to "import" the other two stores of data on the new installation without losing my data? My VMs are located on two other data stores, and all my data is also located here...
ESX will see and ask if you want to maintain or format.

How to add the data without loss of data store?
Hello
We had ESXi 3.5 installed on 1 HDD and data store was on a different HARD disk.
Now the HDD with ESXi host got crashed and I had to replace it with another HARD drive and make new ESXi installation on the new HARD drive.
Now after the new ESXi install on new HARD drive, it does not detect the data store on the HARD drive second. It is, however, detect the LUN of the second HARD disk.
Now, how can I do detect the data store on the second HARD drive? Or y at - it anyway I can add the data store on the second HARD drive to the new host ESXi?
Thanks in advance.
Kind regards
Denis
You will need to activate lun resignaturing and snapshot LUN, mount and rename the store of data back to its original name, and then disable them.

my module of Fox reminder disappeared after updating firefox. I can install this add-on again, but then I lose all the data that existed before the update. How can I reinstall without losing any data?
Back up your ReminderFox data before reinstalling. This is stored in a separate file in the folder of the parameters active Firefox (also known as your Firefox profile folder). You can find this file by using a button on the page of troubleshooting information. Either:
- Help > troubleshooting information
- type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter
In the first table, click on "view file". Look for a folder named reminderfox and copy it somewhere safe.

I have the laptop (Toshiba satellite) friend who's stuck in the installation of the service Pack 1. I have service pack 2 and am wondering, since I can't fix with this cd, can I install service Pack 2 on it without loss of data or files?
PC claims service pack1 cd with file asms
When you use service pack 2 cd can not load product catalogues, it is fatal error, the Setup logs files should contain more information.
Why not integrate Service Pack 2 and Service Pack 3 on her XP CD by following the instructions here (using another PC):
http://en.community.Dell.com/support-forums/software-OS/w/microsoft_os/1443.aspxCopy all data on an external hard drive, do a clean install using the XP CD updated (preferably on the BIOs)Then, install the drivers from the system, then Microsoft Security Essentials, Windows 7 Firewall Control (XP free Version) and Malwarebytes' AntiMalware (free or Pro) or whatever you prefer security.Then copy the files over.This will probably lead to the best performance. -
Is Microsoft Failover Cluster ESXi 4.1 Shared Disk of NFS data store, it supported?
We have a request from MS Failover Cluster configuration on Windows 2008 R2 2 guests with a storage shared for a web application. However, there is no VMFS storage of data or the ability of the CF to presending RDM. So, I created the disks shared on a NFS datastore using option "Setup for Failover Clustering and Microsoft Cluster Service" and have added the cluster disk and tested successful failover.
But the MS cluster validation control cancelled storage and I want to know if that configuration is not taken because of supported.
A notice would be useful.
We are also working on setting up a cluster of ESXi for iSCSI storage, which can be leveraed for this purpose.

Its not supported.
4.1, your only options supported are:
- CF storage with pRDMs
- iSCSI storage with initiators guest.

Need to reinstall windows without loss of data
Specifications of the PC:
Model: HP Pavilion Notebook PC g7
Operating system: Windows 8.1 Pro 64-Bit
Processor: AMD A6 - 4400M 2.7 GHz APU
When I upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1, I got a popup saying that Windows 8 is not enabled. I looked everywhere in my PC (the physical computer itself and the digital information to the breast) as well as the box, he entered, entered every number I could find, and nothing has worked. Looking at my PC information, I realized I'm under Windows 8 Pro. This is not true! I'm supposed to have Home Premium. I want to know if there's a smart to find registry trick my series (nothing illegal) or how I might be able to restore the Home Premium without losing any data. If bad comes to worse, I can borrow an external HD work.
Thank you

Hello world
My XPS8300 has recently crashed due to the lightning (food), and I had to return to my insurance company who me repaid. So I have a new Dell XPS8500.
I just kept the old XPS8300 two drives in raid0 because they were ok and I wanted to be able to recover my data.
So I wonder if I can insert these two drives in raid0 in place of the original disc in my new XPS8500 which are not actually configured raid0 without risk of data loss. I know that this raid0 configuration store data on two disks that depends on the configuration of the original controller. This configuration was made by Dell on my old XPS8300 and I don't have it anymore.
In order to access the drives of my XPS8500 and re-read my datas for more external copy, how can I get the exact settings for the configuration of the bios/raid0 in the XPS8500, probably the same as XPS8300?
Any response would be appreciated.
From what I see, the situation is this: you have a RAID 0 pair of hard drives of your computer that failed you believe still work. Try to remember that Lightning does weird things to a computer, your drives maybe isn't as good as you think they are. If they are still good, however, it is possible that they could work as a RAID 0 volume on your new XPS 8500. Disks have RAID 0 metadata on them and the RAID controller on the 8500 XPS should be able to pick up. I don't think that the processors are very different between the two machines.
You might have trouble booting from disks, however. 8500 XPS BIOS is a bit different from that of the XPS 8300, and I think that it is running Windows 8. This OS requires parameters not available on the XPS 8300 that have to do with the firmware UEFI is used instead of the legacy PC BIOS. If you simply install the readers and try to start, some parameters of UEFI would make no sense to the Windows 7 operating system which is most likely present on your old RAID 0 pair of disks. Even if the system boots to RAID 0, there are enough differences between the mothers of the two systems to facilitate the difficult operation.
If you still want to give it a go, I suggest that you keep the existing XPS 8500 system disk in place and plug the RAID 0 hard drives in the third and fourth SATA ports. This will allow the RAID ROM show the RAID 0 volume as an extra disk and allow you to access the contents of this volume. You may need to take possession of the folders and files on the RAID volume before you can copy, depending on the security settings you had on your XPS 8300. In addition, you need to maybe change the SATA RAID controller setting and activate 3 and 4 SATA ports until readers discussed. Older machines have sometimes RAID Autodetect/AHCI and an Auto setting to ports, but some of the newer computers are not.
You might want to try the RAID setting before going to the trouble to install readers. The RAID setting uses the AHCI, but he's also looking for RAID metadata on the hard drives. If the reader of the XPS 8500 system does not, you could get a boot failure. In case that you need to reinstall your Windows 8 operating system in RAID mode if you always want to try to mount your RAID drives.

People,
I would like to know how can I safely ask the Exchange Server service pack or cumulative update for the server role mailbox (no DAG) without loss of e-mail during the downtime and roll back the snapshot?
If I can do the following:
1. stop all Exchange Server services.
2. unplug the vNIC on the mailbox server
3 take a snapshot of the virtual machine
4. apply the service Pack of Exchange Server / Cumulative Update or Windows Update
5 reset
6 reconnect the vNIC, if the server online with no problem, commit / remove the snapshot, if not, then disconnect the vNIC followed to restore.
would be - this sense being or support for Vmware and Microsoft http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/exchange-2010-on-vmware-support-and-licensing-guide.pdf ?
If yu have any other suggestions, please let me know here.
Thanks in advance.
Hey AlbertWT,
I'll start by saying that I would not do. Microsoft is explicit that snapshots are not supported with Exchange when virtualized. See below (from Exchange 2013 Virtualization: help Exchange 2013):
Some hypervisors include features to take snapshots of virtual machines. Virtual machine snapshots capture the State of a virtual machine while it is running. This feature allows you to take several snapshots of a virtual machine and then return the virtual machine to a previous state by applying a snapshot to the virtual machine. However, virtual machine snapshots aren't application aware, and using them can have unintended and unexpected consequences for a server application that manages the data of the State, such as Exchange. Accordingly, making snapshots of the virtual machine to a virtual guest computer Exchange only is not supported.
Even if we ignore the statement of support from shadow copies that isn't always a good idea. Here are some things to consider.
(1) cumulative updates for the Exchange to modify the Active Directory schema. Roll back the snapshot on the mailbox server is not undo changes made to RFA, which could cause functional supported questions. See this link to give you an idea of how there is pattern AD updates in each CU Exchange and service pack: the Active Directory in Exchange 2013 schema changes: Exchange 2013 help
(2) it is possible to send to come during the time you test the update, and if you need to restore you would need a plan to retrieve this e-mail. Third party services may work, or you can prevent the email to come in your environment completely during this period, but these aren't the ideal solutions.
A much better solution would be to create a lab environment that is isolated from the production. You can either take clones of your Exchange and AD VMs and put them in a closed network environment, or create a laboratory and import the structure of your ad if it matches the production. I think it is a much better way to test than to try to rely on stereotypes in production.
Hope that helps!

Dynamic form (goes and comes without loss of data!)
Hey there!
I am in a bit of a pickle... especially since I'm not very goot with AS2...
Here's what I'm trying to do:
http://www.isleekdesign.com/customtravel.swf
It is essentially a shape with 6 pages that you can scroll backward, if you missed some information and want to go back for review.
I think the concept is good, but I'm not sure how to actually run.
Here is a screenshot of the timeline, so get you an idea of how I did it (but you probably know it already...):
http://www.isleekdesign.com/timeline.jpg
I did create a mask and shape scrolls... it going forward until that 45 frame, then it goes to the rear.
For example, if we are on page 2 of 6 and retaliate, he plays the animation "backwards" and jumps to frame 1 (of course plays don't step back, but with a ' gotoAndStop (1) '; command).
The problem is that if I fill, say that all of the information on page 1 of 6 and then scroll down... when I come back to this page, the info is lost.
Here's what the form looks like:
http://www.isleekdesign.com/Scene1.jpg
I have named each text entry and checkbock accordingly, but am not sure how to get the input data actually stick to each field so that the "coming and going" actually works...
Any ideas on how to achieve this? The next step is to send the form to a php script... But first things first
My * guess * is that a script should be added when I hit the "next" button, so that it sticks the field values (what the user has typed) in each field and stays there. This will also help collect information of each page for when it is ready to be sent.
Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me. I'm ready to download the .fla is necessary.
Kind regards
iSleek
Save all data (in variables), before leave you a page.
for example, create your instance of loadvars to send when you initialize your app (before you get on the pages of form):
var sendLV:LoadVars = new LoadVars(); Initialize, so it is not crushed. You may even need:
{if(!sendLV)}
var sendLV:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
}
Then, before leaving a page, wrap through all your textfields and record the input data to sendLV:
sendLV.name = nameTF.text;
sendLV.address = addressTF.text;
.
.
.
etc.
When you enter a loop of the form through your textfields page again to see if all the data was stored:
{if(sendLV.Name!=undefined)}
nameTF.text = sendLV.name;
}
{if(sendLV.Address!=undefined)}
addressTF.text = sendLV.address;
}
.
.
.
etc.
not only this will prevent loss of data among users of flash and frustrating, but you will be all set to call your script php with your populated loadvars.

Question about reinstalling Windows after virus/malware crashed the system
OK, I'm not exactly super tech savvy but I can manage. Here's my dilemma. I clicked a bad link in a Yahoo search and started getting all sorts of flashing messages that my laptop has been infected. The next thing I know... Windows (I have Vista) crashed and does not now.
Question #1 - so... can I spend $85 and make it my buddy to the computer to reinstall Vista... or can I invest in upgrading to Windows 7?
Question #2-si I do it myself, can I just go ahead an installation of Windows 7 since I have no operating system on it because Vista won't load?
I'd appreciate any help I can get with that. I really think that whatever it is, I would be smart to buy Windows so I have to drive since it is not come with the laptop or my all-in-one.
Thank you!!!
Hello
If necessary, you can record all necessary data (files) by putting the hard drive as 2nd in another computer
or in an external box and copy of the data on the removable memory (CD, DVD, USB key or)
others).The physical disks in Vista can be purchased cheaply system machine since you already own windows.
Ask them about Windows 7 as they could also make a case here. Normally, it would be more advantageous for you
to buy the disks of Vista and then upgrade to Windows 7 (unless the system manufacturer has a special offer).
Before upgrade you to Windows 7 make sure that the system and the software will run you on it.To run the Upgrade Advisor you will need Vista work. Check with your system manufacturer support
and/or support of any specific manufacturer of the device to make sure the drivers are available for your system.Windows 7 Upgrade Advisorhttp://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx
Also check the Compatibility Center
http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-7/en-us/default.aspxI hope this helps.

How to format a Windows XP computer without loss of data or software
original title: How do I reboot my computer to factory settings but still keep my sofware.How to restart my computer to factory settings but still keep my software, my computer is virus filled so restore it will not work. How to restart my computer to factory settings but still keep my software, my computer is virus filled so restore it will not work. Is there a solution, I don't want to pay for software that I have already given. Thank you
You don't 'reboot' of your computer to the factory settings. What you're probably thinking of is the function "restore" or "recovery" that many brand computers allow you to do. It's very different from the Windows system restore and in effect restores the computer to the way it was when it left the factory. Everything you added to the computer after it's over.
So, before you move on to the stage to do a factory restore (and sometimes it's the best solution for a severely infected computer), you must (a) back up all your data (documents, music, photos, etc.) on an external media and (b) find the full installation of the media - including product keys - for the programs that you have purchased and installed. Then, after the restoration, the first thing you should install is an up-to-date anti-virus application. Then use this antivirus software to analyze the backup media before you copy it to your computer.If you downloaded the software but did not keep the downloaded installer (and many, if not most, people aren't), you can probably download the installer again without having to pay if you still have the product key. Check with the software publisher.
How do you get the product key which you have now? Download and run the free Belarc Advisor and Magical Jellybean Keyfinder (you probably need only one, but it is possible Belarc maybe find some keys that magical Jellybean is not and vice versa). It is important that you run these programs before you uninstall or restore anything. They will show the product keys for your programs installed. With these keys and the installation media, you should be able to reinstall your software applications.
If you have purchased an app that came on a CD or DVD and you have lost the CD/DVD, you will have a problem. You will need to contact the seller and to provide some sort of proof of purchase (the above license key may be sufficient). For Microsoft, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326246/

How can I get my iPod Touch on the way of recovery without loss of data?
Hello
My iPod touch 4th generation shows a cable Apple USB pointing towards the iTunes logo.
I have not jailbroken it or fallen to set the mode of recovery, and when I open iTunes it comes up with the message saying that it has detected an iPod in recovery mode and I can't use it with iTunes unless I restore my iPod.
Of course, I don't want to erase all the 50 GB of music I stored on I have not saved recently.
Is it possible for me to get my iPod out of the recovery mode without restore me or lose my data?
Thank you very much

How can I do?

I have an IMac 3 - year, which was saved with a 1 to LaCie external drive, using Intego Backup Assistant. Obviously I'm not successfully back up because I wasn't expecting this drive must be complete. That said, how to fix the problem. ? I need to see the data that is on the disk and to eliminate duplication of work, and then I'll need to reform the backup process so that I have not fill up the drive. I am not particularly adept at information technology, so more detail that can be provided, the better it is!
What a pity that you have not started using Apple built-in Time Machine from the beginning. It deletes older backups as needed.
That being said, the only way is to do it again. I'd get a new drive and copy what you absolutely need and wipe.
