ESXi 4 on Dell T410 Xeon E5504

Hello:

I ve installed VMWARE ESXi on a Dell T410 server. It has 1 quad core Intel Xeon Processor (e5504) but ESXi recognizes only the 2 hearts. I can only use two hearts in the virtual machine.

I have a free license. Maybe a problem with the license? Could someone help me solve the problem?

Thank you!

I saw a setting in the BIOS to disable two of the kernel on a quad core processor, you can verify that?

  • Install ESXi 4 PE Dell 310 if an error occurs

    Hi gentlemen

Try to install the last install ESXi on a Dell PE T310.

I heard that he dislikes the H200 raid controller, so for now I'm just installing on a single drive running off the SATA controller.

Get to select the drive to install to, and then receives the error displayed in the image as an attachment.

Can anyone shed light on this point, as I google for hours without result!

    Thanks in advance

Did you do a checksum? It is important to do? Also do the checksum against the CD. Make sure they match. There is nothing to gain by saying that it should be OK. Test to make sure. You can also try to write the image CD and not DVD. Try to write it using another drive.

  • Install ESXi version with Dell management components

    Hello

How can I make a 'normal' version of ESXi edition of Dell management components? Can I burn a CD with iso ESXi Dell and update installation CD?

    Thank you

Installation CD do a new installation or repair (repair would wipe your current config while retaining the VMFS partitions).  You would with your case

    (1) download the latest patch of ESXi from here - http://download3.vmware.com/software/vi/ESXe350-200904401-O-SG.zip

    (2) extract the ZIP file and you will find 3 ZIP file.  From one that ends by - I-BG-zip (it will be about 44 MB in size).

    (3) in this ZIP you will find VMware-OEM - image.tar.gz - extracted Dell.tgz.

    (4) copy that /bootbank/oem.tgz and restart your host.

  • Upgrade memory for Dell T410 Server

    Hi all!

I have a Dell T410 server and want to update my RAM memory.

I currently have 24GB RAM as follows:

3 modules of 8GB RAM Dell certified - 2Rx4 LV of 1333 MHz RDIMMS

I like to keep these modules and add extra. Don't know if I can add 8 GB, 16 GB, or 24 more.

Hope you can help out me.

    Thanks in advance!

If you have a processor you have only an available slot, so adding another 8 GB of memory would be the limit.

  • Reference Dell R300 Xeon 3353 and ESXi 4?

    Hello

I'm currently under ESXi 3.5 on a Dell R300 with CPU server 3353 everything works fine. I am considering the upgrade to ESXi 4 but I do not see in the HCL for support for the UC 3353 (only 54xx ones).

Is there a reason for this? Does anyone have experience with 3353 R300 and ESXi 4?

    Thanks for your help,

    Rémi

Don't worry, ESXi 4 will work fine.

  • PowerEdge T410 & Xeon X 5680 compatibility

Anyone know if the PowerEdge T410 with 1.12.0 BIOS is compatible with of Xeon X 5680? The release notes indicate the system is compatible with the 5600 series processors, but I am unable to get the server to actually start with them installed.

    What I tried:

    Reset the BIOS - exclusion-

Reflashed BIOS to 1.12.0 - no - Go-

Removal of all other processors and RAM leaving only bank 1 - No - Go-

Installed one (do not have another) "verified" CPU X 5650 130 w 6-Core-ALL-GOOD.

I now feel that BIOS 1.12.0 is NOT compatible with processors X 5680.

Can someone help and check this for me? My Google-Fu returns no results...

Thanks in advance for your time...

    > Aaron

The fact that the .pdf you linked to is buried several layers on the Dell site solidifies only my argument that it shouldn't take this much effort to find valid information such as those.

In addition, the 1.12.0 BIOS update simply indicates further support for processors 5600 'COLLECTION '. The specsheet.pdf for the server indicates 5600 'SERIES' both of which are easier to find than the .pdf that you linked to (i.e. Google Poweredge t410)

The technicalguide.pdf you linked to only reinforces my feeling that Dell must be clearer about their documentation. Example 6.1 Overview (table 8) the Poweredge t410 Server supports up to two processors. It then lists 95 Watt and 130 watts. Moreover, it gives reference to a set of processors supported but not going only up to the X 5650. It gives no reference what BIOS version was used during the test, but the stamp on the .pdf indicates July of 2011, but the latest version of BIOS is starting in 2013. I hope that these examples, you'll be able to see that just "assume" things like "good indicators" can trip-up the more experienced Sys Admins.

And FWIW the 5675 X are the fastest processors more high watt TDP that can run in the T410. Thanks for me to understand that...

No response is necessary, because I don't care anymore or I'll read.

This system 4 servers and 4 offices is hosted.

    To improve performance, I want to add more memory 36 GB (3 x 4 + 3 x 8) and I think a second Xeon processor.

A second processor usage is possible with ESXi 4?

Web search gave me a confused littlle bit, due to contradictory answers :-(.

  • ESXi on a Dell SC440?

ESXi supports the Intel ICH7 controller, but it is for the use of the CD-ROM hosts only.   ESX (i) only supports SATA drives where controllers connected in double mode SAS on the official LIST, but both recognize and work with a certain number of SATA controllers.  You know the specific model of the controller which has your Dell?   If the ICH7, then you may have a work around to get ESXi to install.

  • ESXi 5.5 Dell M620 M8428-K

    Hi all

I have a problem with ESXi 5.5 - when I join all my network cards to a switch I lose connection.

    Here is my configuration:

Reference Dell M620 blades in a M1000e chassis. We have 10 adapters GB Qlogic NAC - dual channel QMD8262-K, which are divided into 4 adapters on each channel, linking to 2 x switches chassis K-M8428-Dell (rebadged brocade 8000).

When you use ESXi 5.1 everything works perfectly.

I got a box to open with VMware since November and so far they were able to identify that the ARP requests are extinguished vmnic0 but ARP reply packets come back through vmnic2 and lost by Team_ReverseFilterPerList(). That's why vmk0 stops sending traffic.

I was wondering if someone has a similar setup and work with ESXi 5.5? We have 7 of these boxes and none work with ESXi 5.5.

    Thank you

    Geoff.

Here is the command that worked for me. You must restart after his entered before it takes effect.

  • ESXi install on dell optiplex 790

    Hi experts,

1A tried to install Native Vmware Esxi 5.1 OS on Dell Optiplex 790, reported Installation Wizard not found supported network cards.

    2. I tried Esxi custom Dell installation 5.1 on the same area, then received the same error message.

sounds like network drivers is not included in both of the Esxi Images, any idea on this issue.

Error message 'no network adapters detected' when installing ESXi on Dell PowerEdge servers 12th generation - Dell Dell TechCenter - TechCenter community.

Dell optiplex 790 got the intel pro 100/1000 cards.

Even when I installed RHEL, it's the same thing, but fortunately RHEL does not stop in the Setup Wizard if the card is not supported. After the Installation of OS RHEL. I installed the e1000 driver. It works very well.

VMware should have the same opportunity to install drivers after installing ESxi OS.

If you do not have a suitable driver for the specific NETWORK card package, you can use Image Builder to create a custom ISO Setup / CD. Take a look at http://www.v-front.de/p/esxi-customizer.html , which greatly simplifies this task.

I guess the only thing that can fail is the installation of all the necessary modules.  This, however, can normally be solved after installation.

  • ESXi on a Dell Optiplex 740

    Hello world

I'm currently under vSphere ESX on a Dell Optiplex 740 in my lab at home and I'm very happy with the results, but I would like to be able to dual boot without adding a 2nd hard drive.  I think that vSphere ESXi would be ideal for this.  What I want to do is to load vSphere on a USB and then set the BIOS to use the USB as the first boot device.  I have Windows 7 equipped hard drive and this way I could start Windows 7, each time the USB key is deleted.  I understand that I will need to load the image of vSphere on the USB but I have no idea how to do that.  Are there images that would be suitable for this purpose?  Can I use any USB?

    Thank you.

Install USB is supported directly from the ESXi installation disc. Insert the key and start the installation. If you have important data on the hard drive I have to temporarily disconnect the disk hard until you are installed.
