ESXi installation auf einem USB - Stick

Hallo,

There is some things man dabei calendar should die mensen.

There're eine HCL?

1 GB. Von sticks are 'supportete' diversity Serverherstellern gibt. Function is actually fast jeder Stick man should however schon aus interested Qualität schauen auf grossen.

Make sure you create your media recovery HP or USB Flash Recovery discs before you edit or change anything.

Your computer does not have Microsoft's Downgrade rights and you must buy a copy of Windows 7 with a valid Microsoft COA and product key.

The screenshots below is from a laptop HP 15 t-j100... options and the configuration on your computer screens may differ.

You will need to DISABLE "Secure Boot" and ENABLE "Legacy Support" in the "Configuration of the BIOS start-up secure" on the settings page similar to what is shown below, until you try to install Windows 7.

After you save the changes, the computer will ask you to confirm the changes... Accept the changes by typing the four digit code and press the ENTER"" key.

If you install Windows 7 from a USB and see a message of "load a driver - a required CD/DVD drive device is missing", it's because as 'System Configuration' > 'Config USB3.0 in pre-start' is set to 'Enabled '. This should be set to 'Auto '.

In addition, as the factory hard drive is partitioned as TPG, you must start using the internal CD/DVD UEFI or UEFI-Key/key USB to install Windows on a GPT-partitioned disk. Turn on or restart the computer and press "F9" or "ESC", then "F9" when prompted. Select the source of boot UEFI you use and you press "ENTER".

I suggest using Windows 7 SP1 for the best installation experience. If the DVD does not start as UEFI, you may need to use a USB Flash drive (can ask "Quick start" DISABLING in BIOS) as the installation media. Please note that some computers may not recognize a valid active UEFI USB Flash drive if it is formatted in NTFS and may require only a FAT32 formatted USB Flash drive. You should be able to make a FAT32 formatted Windows 7 installation USB Flash drive using Rufus, UNetbootin, Universal USB Installeror WiNToBootic. I like Rufus, because it contains options for 'Plan of GPT partition for UEFI computer' and 'FAT32'.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

  • ESXi Installer 6.0u1a & 6.0u1b not recognizing not not on MacPro 6.1 USB keyboard

I just got 2 new MacPro 6.1, delivered 2 days ago and was aware of the possible SSD being not recognized error but am willing to deal with that. My problem is that once the boots MacPro Setup ESXi charge from a USB memory key and gets all the way to the press ENTER to continue the installation of the keyboard (or any USB device?) seem not to be recognized. I tried with a different Installer .iso 6.0u1a & 6.0u1b, they both exhibit the same behavior. BIOS versions on these seem a little bit newer than what I saw in the nets SSD, so I don't know if another thing Apple that the SSD has changed lately. The version of the BIOS MP61.0116.B16. It does not recognize the keyboard and start the Installer off USB first. I just can't continue the installation. I tried several keyboards as well. Apple, Dell, HP basic keyboards. If I start with it or plug it in once I get started, I didn't even not a NumLock led light. Any suggestions?

    Hi ejerue,

Please use the keyboard USB extender that comes with the Apple keyboard (even if you don't need the extra distance it provides).  It is the typical solution.

  • New to ESXi ESXi installation USB or local disks operation best practices?

I'm new to Vmware and run a small store, what is the best practice or best method to install the OS ESXi.  I currently have a few that I have installed on the usb stick on the server Board.  After some research it would be better to have two small drives SSD that I can raid with the operating system, then another RAID for the VM data store.  USB is a single source of failure.

    Thank you

    Mike

    Hello

Having the internal hard drives in RAID1 for the o/s will certainly to avoid a single point of failure, as you pointed out correctly. At present the death of your USB key, your host problems quite quickly, and you will need to get a new one and re-install again. You could save your good host configuration and realistically - it does take too long to rebuild a crowd if he dies. Lose other stuff like network configurations and others would however be a pain!

I think I have two SSD internal drives in RAID1 for the o/s is probably overkill. You will have an advantage any speed of startup, but realistically most of the servers restart everything often and once that ESXi is in place and operational it is very little activity on the disks, a config updates every so often and so on. I'd be inclined to use a SSD to create a Cache of the host for the swap drive, like that you can actually use the SSD and get more performance for your money.

Many manufacturers (like Dell) use internal SD cards in RAID1. While SD cards are not known to be very robust, because of the congestion of ESXi and the minimum number of necessary paperwork once installed initially, it makes a less expensive alternative to business class for the o/s disks.

In regards to your data warehouses, having an internal RAID your local disks is best if you use a stand-alone host with no storage attached to the network. You always have the problem of failure of the host if.

    See you soon,.

  • Move the existing 5.5 ESXi installation of the HARD disk on USB.

I need help on what would be the best approach to move my existing ESXi 5.5 install the HARD disk to the new USB.

Then you tell your environment uses the local disk to your VM data store (s)? In addition, you want to move your partition ESXi to USB and recover the local disk space? I think if it was me, the the more safe thing to do would be to shut down the system, pull on the local drive on just enough to disable / he dethrone, insert the USB key and run ESXi installation. Then (after checking the boot order) reinstall the local disk and boot the system. Once the USB key version boots, make your configurations (DNS, NTP, license etc.) and add the data store (s) existing local drive. You can then add existing virtual machines via "navigation" of the data store (s).

  • Rufus (free utility) takes 2 minutes to create a USB bootable for ESXi installation starting source who becomes the target of the installation, even for 5.5

Just info, one of these open Windows source rare beads that are becoming more and more difficult to find on the web these days, in the middle of a see payloads of downloader.

Rufus I found to be very convenient for the quick creation of a USB flash drive you can start from, and then only install, for ESXi, no command-line stuff to memorize necessary and very fast:

    TinkerTry.com/rufus-takes-2-minutes-to-create-a-bootable-usb-flash-drive-for-esxi-installation

works very well with ESXi 5.5 also:

    TinkerTry.com/download-vsphere-5-lab

and when finished with this flash drive and you want to use it for something else (but normal reformatting does not work), she who manages, even on Windows 8.1:

    TinkerTry.com/rufus-lets-you-quickly-and-easily-reformat-an-esxi-usb-flash-drive-back-to-full-capacity

Especially useful for people to start who shy away from Linux VMware procedure:

Format a USB to start the ESXi Installation or upgrade

    Documentation Centre of vSphere 5.5

Windows diskpart commands or potentially dangerous. Really fair, fast and useful for pretty much everyone.

  • Server does not start after the installation of the USB bootable, ESXi

    Hello

I installed VMware ESXi 5 on a SSD drive using a bootable USB key, but my server does not automatically start since the SSD after installation. I can boot ESXi in the offered by the BIOS boot menu.

The startup configuration is perhaps incorrect because during the installation of the USB drive is present, but after the installation, it is not?

Updating the BIOS on the DQ77MK at 49, and you should be able to start - UEFI must never be activated.

  • ESXi installs several scripts and other questions fun!

    Hello

I've been messing around with a USB stick and have a first installation works well (after a lot of messing around!)  I wish I had installed several out there so I can just choose a facility and off it goes my syslinux.cfg is below:

    label rebuild Server 1

menu label ^ rebuild Server 1

    kernel mboot.c32

    Add vmkboot.gz ks = usb---vmkernel.gz---sys.vgz---cim.vgz---ienviron.vgz---install.vgz---mod.tgz

    label rebuild Server 2

menu label ^ rebuild Server 2

    kernel mboot.c32

    Add ks2 vmkboot.gz usb---vmkernel.gz---sys.vgz---cim.vgz---ienviron.vgz---install.vgz---mod.tgz =

I made a copy of the cfg file and renamed it to ks2 and added that ks2 = usb.  I have no idea why the first works and is not the other.  Obviously, I'm not that linux savvy and someoen can point me if all is well in the right direction.

The second question I have is - how the hell can we change the keyboard available UK?  Is it possible to add a script?

The very, very last question is... is - it possible to deploy HP Systems Insight Manager by script?

Thanks a lot, a lot, if you've read so far!

In addition, you my want to specify a path of your the KS.cfg isolinux.cfg file.  Also, so that this works, you must specify the path to uppercase.  your isolinux.cfg may resemble

    label Rebuild Server 1
    menu label ^Rebuild Server 1
    kernel mboot.c32
    append vmkboot.gz ks=usb:/KS.cfg --- vmkernel.gz --- sys.vgz --- cim.vgz --- ienviron.vgz --- install.vgz --- mod.tgz

    label Rebuild Server 2
    menu label ^Rebuild Server 2
    kernel mboot.c32
    append vmkboot.gz ks2=usb:/KS2.cfg --- vmkernel.gz --- sys.vgz --- cim.vgz --- ienviron.vgz --- install.vgz --- mod.tgz

FWIW.  We identify our files kickstart with the host name of the ESXi Server

  • Problem with ZTE MF190 Dongle (USB Stick Modem)

I have a ZTE MF190 Dongle (USB Stick Modem), which is a plug-and-play device. It was to find work on my Windows 7 Ultimate with my Acer Aspire 4720Z but recently it does not HSPA or any other signal, unless I have to uninstall and reinstall all the time before using it. When I do this, it installs the following drivers:

    Composite USB device
    ZTE Diagnostics Port (COM6)
    ZTE to Port (COM7)
    ZTE ATExt2 Port (COM5)
With a Modem ZTE USB owner
    Network adapter Broadband Mobile ZTE
    USB Mass storage Device
    ZTE MMC storage device

But he informs me that "ZTE WCDMA Technologies MSM" cannot be installed.

This missing driver would be the reason why I am facing this problem. If Yes, where can I get this coz I looked everywhere including the website of the manufacturers without result.

    Hello

Certainly, this looks like a problem with the drivers. The manufacturer has a way you can get in contact with them at all? It is the responsibility of the manufacturer to write drivers for the devices that are compatible with Windows.
Another thing to do is to make sure to have all your drivers chipset update of the website of the manufacturer of the computer.
You say that you have an Acer, so go here: http://support.acer.com/us/en/default.aspx
You can find model specific computer and download all the drivers updated in need of your system.
  • is it possible to download windows 7 on a USB stick and install it on a computer wiped

is it possible to download windows 7 on a USB stick and install it on a computer wiped

Yes, but you must do what is necessary. ISO that you create on a USB bootable copy.

    Prepare the. ISO installation file.

See the instructions for burning. ISO in Windows 7 or later files:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/burn-a-CD-or-DVD-from-an-ISO-file

You can also use the Microsoft USB/DVD tool, which is recommended for users of Windows XP.

After getting the file .iso that you use it Microsoft .iso to USB/DVD tool to create a bootable DVD or USB (requires a blank DVD or USB flash to at least 4 GB key).

    For UEFI systems based

If your computer is UEFI, they are normally the systems that come pre-loaded with Windows 8 or later, you need prepare the ISO for such a configuration file or you will receive an error during installation. The USB key must be formatted in FAT32 and use the GPT partitioning scheme. To do this, you must use Rufus, a small tool that you can download for free.

    Rufus - credit: Pete bastard/Akeo

    After installing Rufus:

    • Launch it
    • Select the ISO Image
    • Point to the file ISO for Windows 10
    • Check create a disk bootable using
    • Select GPT partitioning to EUFI firmware as the Partition scheme
    • Choose FAT32 NOT NTFS as file system
    • Make sure that your USB in the device list
    • Click Start
    • Close when you are finished

    Begin the installation.

The following describes the standard way to start the installation, especially if you are in dual boot a 64-bit version of Windows 10 alongside a 32-bit version of Windows. Another way is to start from a version of runing Windows installation and select the partition where you want to install Windows 10. See below for instructions how.

For information about how to modify your BIOS options to boot from the DVD drive, see the following tutorial:

    http://notebooks.com/2011/05/05/How-to-load-BIOS-and-change-boot-configuration/

Once your computer is configured to boot from the DVD, you should see this option.

If you are installing from a USB key, see the instructions below how prepare your computer to boot from a:

What works with the above server:

    * Install it is an os windows 2012 std server on the raid system is executed without absolutely no problems

Start the success of server std 2012 win every time.

    * Setup a esxi host 5.1 on the server, but only subsequently install Fujitsu «server see DVD»

    * First step of booting (bundle of progress on the top of the screen) will run successfully

    * During the first seconds of the second stage (starting ESXi Kernel, beam of progress is displayed on the bottom of the screen), the computer did a hard-reset and the startup process begins once more.

So I don't know what I could do.

Because all windows system works perfectly, I would exclude a hardware error

On the other side, Fujitsu specifies this server with this equipment compatible with esxi, then I do not understand that no esxi (Installer) will be initialize to top.
