ESXi to Cisco custom Esxi 6.0 6.0

Hi all

We have a doubt about the normal migration of Esxi to Cisco Custom Esxi,

Could you help us please?

The procedure looks like a normal esxi update?

We would be able to deploy windows and other OS VM in the Cisco Custom Esxi?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Kind regards.

The difference between relase OEM Cisco ESXi 6.0 and VMware ESXi 6.0, is that the former has installed its own version of enic/fnic drivers for UCS.

You can install the ISO for VMware and then update drivers enic/fnic according to the Cisco interoperability matrix: http://www.cisco.com/web/techdoc/ucs/interoperability/matrix/matrix.html

  • Free license for Esxi 6.0 Cisco custom ISO

    Dear all,

Is it possible to get the free license for Esxi 6.0 custom cisco ISO? or what can I use standard 6.0 for Cisco 6.0installation custom Esxi Esxi free license key?

I could find the free license only for Esxi 6.0 standard image customized Cisco.

    Thank you.

    Welcome to the community,

Cisco and other hardware providers offer ESXi images customized to support their equipment. However, the customization is made by adding/replacement drivers and tools. The base is still the same original VMware image. There is no specific license provider.

  • Import image Cisco Custom ESXi in MUV

Recently updated vCenter 5.1 and vSphere Update Manager (VUM) 5.1 I can import the image of vSphere "regular" very well, which is good news for most.

However, we have the cluster that is a cluster of UCS.  I'm pretty new to the whole idea of the UCS, but my understanding is that we should use images of installation custom of Cisco.  I downloaded two since the VMware download page.  One for 5.0 and 5.0 Update 1.

Any in MUV.  The error message is "update package cannot be used with VMware Update Manager vSphere." downloaded

    Advice?

Thanks for the info. I guess step 1 should read "Update U1 5.0 to 5.1", as the downgrade is not taken in charge.

By design, VUM 5.1 supports upgrades from the host through the ISO images to the final retail version level - which, in this case, is ESXi 5.1. The ISO images to which you pointed out in step 2 are lower ESXi version (5.0), so this isn't an upgrade path supported in AUVS 5.1.

If you want to upgrade to ESXi ESXi 5.1 through 5.1 VUM bed and breakfast - use ESXi 5.1 images.

If you want to upgrade to 5.0 U1 ESXi ESXi hosts and you don't have in your environment - VC/VUM 5.0, you can use the different upgrade mechanisms.

  • Cisco UCS C240M4 Esxi installation version 5.0 cisco custom image do not start

    Hi all

We are trying to install ESXi 5.0 on Cisco UCS C240M4 server and during loading of the VMware purple screen with the following error

    Bora/vmkernel/hardware/apic.c:1913 and bora/vmkernel/hardware/apic.c:1915 NOT_IMPLEMENTED NOT_IMPLEMENTED.

    Greetings.

ESXi 5.1 U2 is the first supported by Cisco for the C240M4. See matrix interop

I suspect that older versions 5.0 and earlier versions will have problems with the latest chipsets, as well as the lack of 12 GB storage controller drivers.

You will want to check the interop matrix for which OS versions are supported as well as different levels of driver for the network cards, storage, etc.

  • Cisco Custom Image patch

    Hello

I installed a custom Image Cisco ESXi 5.5 in a UCS C220 M3 and I would like to know if I can install patches using Update Manager as I do with a default image. I don't know if I'm having problems because some patches to update the drivers of ESXi and could, for example, replace the Cisco enic and the fnic.

I know that HP and Dell have their deposits that I can use with the Update Manager, but can not find something like that for cisco.

    Thank you

    Hi theire,.

so in recent years, I stayed away from custom provider Isos. Reason is that Vmware is not happy with the custom ones when facing problems. They are pointing to another seller trying to manage Ticket support.

As for that so I just used for years a clean default Vmware Image as well as all the necessary drivers I inject later. Manually or via the Update Manager.

Had more problems with Isos by default then with fully customized supplier ones.

But back to the Question.  If you want to update the driver for Cisco, then you could download those most recent supported because you're model and add in you're Manager Update.

  • Cisco C220 M3 - ESXi installation - is ESXi free?

    Hi guys,.

I want to install ESXi Server C220 M3. I think that ESXi is free but I'm not sure. Do need me a permit for the Cisco custom ESXi image?

I also have another server C220 M3 distinct from each other. For this one, I have a license vSphere Enterprise license. Do I need another license of ESXi here?

    Thank you.

At the end of 60 days, to change the 'license' to the ESXi installation to get a perpetual license (with much reduced features) key of VMware.

Basis of VMware and virtuallisation managed with the vi client is included in the free license, but no vCenter and all the goodies that come with it.

  • Cisco UCS 260 M 2 5.5 U3 - custom image and compatibility

TAC has a customer turned and pointed toward a compatibility table for an installed UCS - C 260M 2, stating that the firmware of the UCS and the latest version of Vmware is not supported.

They are suggesting that the client moves to fimware 1.5 (9) and they use a customized image of Cisco for Vmware.

This facility is for UC/EAC, so I have to make sure that the versions supported in the docwiki for these products as well is the Vmware version.

    http://www.Cisco.com/Web/TechDoc/UCS/interoperability/matrix/matrix.html

The drop down menu shows Vmware 5.5 U3 is a supported version and I find that 5.5 is supported in the dockwiki. So far so good.

However, when I try to find a custom image for 5.5 U3 image only I find it:

    https://my.VMware.com/Web/VMware/details?ProductID=353&downloadGroup=OEM...

VMware 5.5 U3a. The version of the driver specified on this page do not match driver versions indicating the interoperability matrix must be used.

First, is there a customized image of Cisco for 5.5 U3, could someone point me to this image so that these versions of the drivers are the same?

Secondly, can I use ISO customized Cisco to upgrade a vanilla install Vmware 5.1 U3?

    -GDR

    Greetings.

The Cisco Custom images are just a collection of pilots who were up-to-date at the time wherever it has been presented to VMware.  It is expected that iso custom will exactly match the interoperability matrix (it could have at the time, it was created), but at least provide newer drivers than what is usually installed in the general VMware releases.

The interoperability matrix will list the specific driver, i.e. igb driver intel 1 GB network interface.  Download you the version of the driver for VMware site and install adapt you to the requirements notified by the interoperability matrix.

You should be able to use a custom Cisco ISO to upgrade.  When your custom installation ISO analyzes your existing system, it will see a higher version of the drivers/VIBs and update those.  The Cisco with custom isos are simply the original VMware updated versions the drivers injected into them.

    Thank you

  • Update Cisco UCS

    Hi all

We have Cisco N20-B6625-1 and Cisco R210-2121605W, who are running custom ESXi Image 5.1 update 2 Build 1483097VMware. I'd like to update update 5.1 3 but I do not know if I have to apply the custom picture again or is it OK if I just updated the deployment newest.

    Thanks in advance,

    Matt

    Hi Matt,

Depends on the cards (network card, raid controllers, HBAs, etc.) that are installed on your servers. You need to check the driver version of these components between the two versions, if drivers has not changed, you can you can just update the deployment more recent, but if they change, you can use the custom image for 5.1 U3 or update the drivers manually.  To check the version of drivers see link below for the compatibility matrix.  I have also copy a link to the download page for Cisco custom esxi 5.1 u3. Let me know if it helps.

  • SafeNet and Cisco VPN Client Compatible?

I have been using the Cisco VPN for quite awhile with no problems. Recently, we have added a Watchguard Firebox somewhere else and have installed the Client of Watchguard MUVPN, otherwise known as a customer of Safenet.

Since the installation, I could not yet properly use the Cisco Client. If I disable the two Services of Safenet, I invited to my user id and password and connect to the Cisco Concentrator and get an ip, etc. However, I can't ping anything on the network.

My solution is to completely uninstall both clients and reinstall the Cisco by itself. This is not very practical.

If anyone know a fix for this I'd appreciate comments.

    Thank you

    Patrick Dunnigan

    Hi Patrick,

I only got lucky with the SafeNet customer brand Watchguard with the 4.0.x releases of the Cisco client. I think Cisco 4.6 clients use a newer driver from the DNE or else that plays well with SafeNet.

In any case, here's how to set up PC that requires both clients:

First, install the Cisco VPN client. Restart the application, and then stop and disable the Windows service.

Install the client for Watchguard, reboot as requested.

Then, stop and set to manual both SafeNet services, then start and set to automatic the Cisco service.

Delete the shortcut in your Start menu Startup group safecfg.exe (or the key of HKLM\MS\Windows\CurrentVer\Run, where he gets set.)

Delete the shortcut to start for the Cisco VPN client as well.

Whenever you want to use the Cisco customer, you can just launch the Dialer to IPSec. If you want to run the SafeNet client, stop the Cisco service, start the services of SafeNet, then run safecfg.exe. A few batch files facilitate this process for users.

    Hope that helps,

    Chris

  • Cisco VPN Client connected, but no secure way.

    Hello

I can connect to a VPN server smoothly, but once connected, I'm not able to reach all local resources. When I looked at the stats of customer VPN, it shows only a single route in 'Details of the route--> secure routes', 1.1.1.1 255.255.255.255. This is the reason why I can't access any resource. This could be the cause of this problem? How can I secure roads announcing cisco customer? I don't have access to the server, but I will ask the person who can make changes.

    Thank you.

    Shivani,

  • UCS C220 M3 custom problem after installing ESXi 5.1.0 Cisco

    Hello world

I m using a Cisco UCS C220 M3 when I tried to install ESXi 5.1.0 custom Cisco after complete the entire process and restart the server. The ESXi has not started it appeared as if there is no operating system.

In addition, before installing ESXi I configured a HDD in RAID 0, initialized the RAMDisk and chosen as a pilot.

    Hoping someone could help me.

    Llianovich,

Unfortunately, the on-board controller is not supported with ESXi.  I saw other people using this controller for VMware and makes the work but the behavior is very random and it could work or fail at any time. It is recommended to use one of the controllers of basic PCI or Mezzanine by the ESXi (see c220 m3 datasheet below)

  • ESXi 6.0 Cisco ISO Custom

When Cisco going to ESXi ISO custom 6.0?  The 5.5 Update 2 ISO is there. I looked on the VMware site

    https://my.VMware.com/Web/VMware/details?downloadGroup=ESXI600&ProductID=491&rPId=7929#custom_iso

and I do not see listed Cisco.   HP released 3/30, 4/6, NEC Hitachi 4/12 there.

Just FYI: it is now available, see
