  Hi all

  I just updated one of my guests with the latest cisco image provided on the vmware website (Vmware-ESXi-5.5.0-2068190-custom-Cisco-5.5.2.3).  After the application as an upgrade of the host and then doing a scan against the host in the Update Manager, it shows that ESXi complete update 2 is missing?

  I know this is maybe more a problem of vmware, but wanted to see if someone had run into this?

  Welcome to the community,

  Cisco and other hardware providers offer ESXi images customized to support their equipment. However, the customization is made by adding/replacement drivers and tools. The base is still the same original VMware image. There is no specific license provider.

• Update ESXi 5.1 to 5.5 - should I use ISO custom?

  We use the DELL and HP servers running vSphere.

  When we are improving to 5.1 to 5.5 ESXi ESXi, can we download the ISO from VMware image and use the Update Manager to upgrade OR it is advisable to download the ISO image customized DELL and HP to upgrade?

  ISO if custom is preferred, wonder if hardware vendors have different ISO for a different model of servers?  (Some of our servers have been 5 years).

  Well that depends on the used material (type/server model). If the host has a customized running version, I would use an ISO measure for the upgrade. Custom versions usually include CIM providers for health for example data. If some storage controllers are to use also which are not officially supported by VMWare, you must use the ISO custom to have included the pilot.

  For HP servers, please refer to the VMWare HP recipe for compatibility checks on the server model.

  DELL provides it has customized the ISOs on their support pages and if you look at the download page and check "Supported systems" you get a list of compatible with this version of VMWare server models, e.g. VMWare 5.5 Update 2 DELL: Details of the VMware ESXi 5.5 driver update 2 | Reference Dell U.S.

  Hi all!

  I try to install ESXi 6.0 (custom iso fo Cisco: Vmware-ESXi-6.0.0-2494585-Custom-Cisco-6.0.0.1) on

  Cisco c240 M4 server, but it's over purple diagnostic screen. The screene shots are attached.

  

  I also tried to install the iso not personalized (VMware-VMvisor-Installer - 6.0.0 - 2494585.x86_64), and he ended up the same.

  

  History:

  I got the c240 m4, did some basic steps to set up the network and storage (it's a SATA 4 10 k 900 GB disk,

  I decided to make a raid 10 for internal storage + 60 GB flex flash for the hypervisor) and then I palanned to install the ESXi, using the KVM.

  The installation was really ssssllooowww... perhaps it takes 25 minutes and finished purple diagnostic screen.

  Have any ideas?

  The problem has been solved by remove / insert the memory card. After that, the latest firmware had been installed and ESXi 6.0 also. The subject may be close. I hope it helps someone.

  I think that MMIC does nothing with your ESXi installation... it is OoB management for servers of the UCS.

  Check your config MMIC inside the BIOS again.

  See this post where you can learn some information about it.

  And as the OP commented you must correctly configure the raid1 disk controller's BIOS. Then the esxi should see a volume of disk raid1 logic.

  BTW, what disk controller you are using?

  Sometimes, if the drive controller is not really supported, just the physical disks are available for esxi, but not the volume raid1.

  I recommend you check the ESX(I) Compatibility Guide to ensure that your disk controller is supported.

• VMWare ESXi6 standard ISO vs VMWare ISO customized for HP

  One of my clients uses VMware ESXi 5.5 on their HP BL465c Gen7. They have no driver problems.

  Now, as they migrate to the ESXi6, they think its OK to go with as before ISO instead of the one customized for HP servers.

  Anyone could shed some light on this.

  I guess it worked because the server was in ESXi HCL.

  Is there something beyond pilots to use ISO standard HP.

  What is VMware recommendation when it come to support.

  Yes, go with the RESUME on ISO measure as Hardware drivers and firmware are interdependent with OS ESXi and secondly if you try to upgrade the ESXi then yes HP image will be more advantageous in regards to the latest firmware and drivers.

  Looking for a support point of view, I guess that HP has a tie with VMware on racks if necessary, or else you can get direct support two vendors too.

  Two things:

  You have not defined a group of authorization specifying that authorization for VPN clients will be done locally. Add the following:

  Hi Matt, as noted in the section system requirements for TMSXE installation guide our team has tested this product with Outlook 2007 and 2010. However usage with Outlook 2003 client, you might encounter other unknown problems.

  The installation of a lot of patches will replace the vibs included in the package, so if there are additional vibs will not be affected. In any case, what you can do to do this is to run the command with the -dry - run option to find out what will be changed. Other use install , you can also run the command esxcli with Update replacing vibs that have been updated.

  Our company has several ESXi 4.x - hosts installed with HP or DELL-customized images.

  If I install the patches with VUM without doing something more, simply by using the patches automatically downloaded VMware, they then somehow will overwrite the DELL/HP-installation custom ESXi? (Leaving me with a fully functioning but the host not custom).

  Or are the standard VMware patches without affecting the part 'tailor-made' installation?

• Help, please!  Configuration of ESXi to get Cisco Surv. Multimedia for work software.

  Quick overview of what I do:

  I am running VMWare ESXi on a Dell Poweredge R710 server.  My virtual machine is Linux SuSE 10, Service Pack 1, the recommended Cisco media platform video software Surveuillance.  .  I try to get my Cisco software to run on the computer, but it requires an IP address from a remote location to access the software.  My IP address that I attributed to VMware is assigned, but when I use the same address and have the x.x.x.x/cisco.vsm.html there is a conflict with the original address assigned to the address that is using VMware to access the server itself.  I'm a newbie and it's all very confusing to me, so I apprecaite little help.

  Is this a problem IP routing or a problem of port assignment?  The Cisco software is supposed to load when I type http:/x.x.x.x/vsms.html in a browser window on the same network.

  Any suggestions?  I did research this for days trying to figure out how to get a simple program to work.

  Try the URL localhost directly on SuSE http://127.0.0.1/vsmc.html machine if that gets refused then you have configuration problems in the software.
