  I just wanted to know regarding the upgrade from ESX3.5 to ESXi 4.1. In my environment, there are 40 ESX ESX 3.5 version with 2 having 4.0 with SAN and DAS storage, but due to budget constraints we modernize only 5 ESX to ESXi 4.1 and the rest may be later. Need to know everything by keeping these diffirent version ESX in a mixed environment in different cluster will be no problem from the point of view of performance. Any suggestion will be highly appreciated. VCenter version is 4.1

• vCenter DRS in mixed environment?

  I was wondering is it possible to have the DRS to choose this as host to a virtual machine when the virtual machine is in an engine out of State. The environment should be mixed.

  For example:

  Intel Host 2 VM 75% load

  AMD host 0 mV 1% charge

  Intel host 4 VM 50% load

  When I turn on a computer virtual isn't DRS check first to see if any of the guests a low load and push it there? Or does it affect only the virtual computer is powered.

  I obviosuly would not be able to use vMotion.

  You cannot have a cluster joint DRS Intel and AMD.  So there is no DRS.  HA in an environment such as this will likely just the first host in the cluster.

  We are interested in the use of a standard for the majority of our users license and then use an enterprise license for a small subset of users for RDS access.

  As you have noted, it will accept only a key.   You will need to you enter the key license Enterprise and then equip the checks to make sure that you do not exceed your number of allowed licenses.

  Please help I have the P3005 put up on a 64-bit Windows 7 computer. I used the universal driver 64 bits out of the site of hp to install. I'm trying to share the printer on another computer on the network. The other computer is a XP 32 bit SP 3. I can see the printer in the shared folder. When I try to install I get I need the correct driver. I followed http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c02030517 instructions, but I can't install the 32-bit version of windows 7. I go to the properties of the printer Share, click additional drivers, click x 86 driver, but then I can't install the driver. I downloaded every xp off-site disk. Once again please help...

  Please, try the following steps to define a printer shared by a different OS envoirnemnt:

  First step: find the host name:

  Since the PC Windows 7, right click on computer and select Properties.
  Take note of the name of the computer.

  Second step: find the share name:

  Enter the control panel > devices and printers.

  Right-click on the P3005 printer, then select printer properties.

  Enter the sharing tab, and take note of the share name.

  Third step: define the shared printer on the client computer:

  1. Download and run the XP driver below:
     http://ftp.HP.com/pub/softlib/software10/COL16638/LJ-44169-4/ljp3005pcl6win2kxp2003vista2008.exe
  2. Click Unzip, the contect will be extracted in C:\HP LJP3005 PCL6 driver.
  3. Enter the control panel > printers and faxes.
  4. Click Add a printer.
  5. Select this option to Add a local printer.
  6. The bottom of the screen, create a new port by selecting the local railway.
  7. Set the port as \\COMPUTERNAME\SHARENAMEname using the above values.
  8. In the Printers list, click disk provided, paste the path to the driver (driver C:\HP LJP3005 PCL6) file, and click OK.
  9. Follow the steps to complete the wizard, and try to print.

  Yes.  You should be able to connect on a system and use no matter what you prefer applications.  You can be signed in on 2 systems simultaneously, with an option to reset all of the activations if you need to connect to a third-party system do not have access to others for now.

• Mixed environment of Windows 7 and XP

  I installed a J4680 as a wireless device using my XP machine.  It works very well.  I then directly access the printer through the network on my Windows 7 computer and it prints some reason (for example, the same image appears twice on a page print correctly the first time and includes a smaller version of the image superimposed on top of itself on the second screen).  Proper display shows print preview.  When Windows 7 accesses the shared printer through the Windows XP machine it works fine but I want to be able to access without going through the Windows XP machine turned on.  Seems to need a different driver Windows 7 and does not get it.

  I tried to remove the printer from Windows 7 computer and install directly with the Windows 7 CD.  No change.

  Click Support & drivers at the top of the page, looking for the software and drivers for your printer and then download and install the Win 7 software. It should work fine then.

  If we talk about vSphere 4 answer is: DRS will work, but it will be limited. means that it moves only virtual machines that are running on a shared cluster of balance storage. VM on local storage will be spared by the DRS

  You can activate CVS on the 3.5 hosts, and they must be in U2.  As moh has said, your best bet would be to create groups separated, since it is likely that you will have some CPU compatibility issues.

  These are questions that could get into a lot more detail and discussion than a forum post. At a high level, you certainly don't want delete all indexes on Exadata. However, you need to index and an indexing strategy will change on Exadata. After you move a database from one not Exadata Exadata environment you are probably more indexed. Indexes used for OLTP transactions real - looking one or a few lines among others will usually quickly with an index. The index used to avoid a percentage of records but always returning number of records can often be moved. On the index depends on the nature of the workload and your application. If you have a control on the index, then test your queries and DML with the index (s) invisible. Check your implementation plan, the columns io_cell_offload in v$ sql, smart scan wait events to ensure you get intelligent analysis... and see if the smart scan is faster than using the index (s). The real-time SQL Monitor is an excellent tool to help with this - use dbms_sqltune or grid/cloud control.

  Parallelism is a great tool to help still speed up queries and direct path loading operations and can help prompt smart scans... but use of parallelism really depends on your workload and must be controlled using DBRM and the parallel init parms, possibly using same parallel declaration put on hold, so it is not overwhelm your system and cause concurrency problems.

  If you have a mixed environment of workload or consolidates databases on Exadata so my opinion is IORM plans should certainly be implemented.

  ESXi 4 servers cannot access 5 VMFS LUNS.

  Virtual machines with version 8 of material can not turn on on the ESXi 4 servers.

  Currently, we run a mixed environment domain and not domain systems. All systems to communicate through the firewall even border. However, CCP (Creative Cloud Packager) and CCD (Creative Cloud Desktop) only work on non-domaine systems. On the systems in the domain, we can install both applications, however after installation, they simply clock when booting, or in the case of the CCP, we get the error "please connect to the Internet and try again. Similarly, we connected and used a local administrator account on these systems in domain (both install and run), still with no luck.   After a repair for the last week I finally understood that (a weekend away from work wonders makes auditing your head). It occurred to me that I became the security certificate prompt when starting of the CCD on field systems, but was not getting the prompt on systems not to a domain. This thread look at me the certificate and the certificate stores on the two systems. It turns out, put into service the first time, CCD wants to add a third party automatically trusted root certificate. However, it was not possible on the systems in domain as trust of third-party root certificates installation is disabled by domain group policy. The work around was to export the certificate from a non-domaine system and import manually in the domain system (requires administrative access). After manually import the certificate, CCD (CCP) starts and works very well.

  In our environment, we use VMware ESX 4.0.0 but now we try to improve our environment to ESX 4.0.0 to ESXi.4.1.0

  All ESX hosts are bladecenter and they use a shared storage (SAN).  All ESX are in a cluster in vCenter.  In vCenter Vmotion, DRS and HA of this cluster is on.

  If no on has upgraded their VMware ESX 4.0 environment to ESXi 4.1.0 then please let me know any upgrade.

  I have a new shared MD3200 SAS (a SAS controller with 2 connected physical servers) 24 TB.   I put it up as a RAID 10 (giving me about 12 TB) and the intention was to have a single drive shared among servers.  However, implementation of a cluster on Ubuntu turns out to be difficult so I started testing on VMWare and installed the trial of ESXi5.  After spending a few days reading and try different things, I think that I must be misunderstanding exactly what VMWare can do here.   Reading on VMFS-5 certainly looks as VMFS takes between several hosts and virtual machines and sharing locking supported, but after trying many different things, that it doesn't seem like what I do it is possible, or at least not without the OS on the plateau of the VM up as a Cluster and using a cluster FS.   I thought VMFS was a FS in cluster that would support this, but now I think I'm in the same position I was when I started, that is I need to put in place systems to operate as a cluster and they manipulate file locking.   If this is the case my dream to have a mixed environment (windows, ubuntu) who could access a single drive shared on the SAS ADSL connection is not possible.

  I called VMWare and left a message for a sales representative last week and also sent a request by e-mail to the turnover to ask someone to call me to see how we can use VMWare in our business, but they have not responded.

  Yes, you can still create clusters with virtual machines, but you must always present a form of storage shared for VMS themselves. It is not uncommon to have clusters running windows as virtual machines, for example.
