Exchange for 2 hard drives 1 TB hard drives to

I'm stuck with the help of a Dell R715 as a backup server. This will be my main storage for backup data. Is it possible to change the drive in the cages with 2 TB drives? I am currently under the disks 1 to - 4 and 2-146 GB. 4-1 TB drives are Raid 5 for a total of 3 TB and 2-146 GB unit is reversed for the OS. It gives me a storage space limited only 3 TB for backup of data. Is it possible to use 2 TB SATA drives in place and place 1 TB SAS drives? This will give me 6 TB of usable space after Raid 5. TIA Tony

Thanks Theflash1932, this will certainly help in the creation of this viable backup server. I use a PERC H700 firmware 12.10.2 - 0004, iDRAC6 1.8 and BIOS 2.3.0. I hope this works with these firmware. In addition, these versions of firmware will allow me to use disks not dell? Any suggestions on 2 TB SATA disks? I don't have to download anything else to use SATA drives in the previous configuration of SAS, I do? Tony

    Hello I have this have upgraded with 6 GB ram and now want to replace the disc for one SSD HARD drive, I read in the forms some how you need to change the bios when you do so, what measures are necessary for the ssd to function? I don't like about backing up files, I'll use as an external HARD drive. Also I have the apu a4 4300 m and would like to get 10 4600 m cpu is this hard to replace or should I pay someone? Thanks for the support

    That's what you have:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03551667

    It is the repair:

    Manual

    From the outset I see that you only have 2 GB of RAM. Very easy and inexpensive to spend at least 4 GB. See page 46.

    The motherboard is the motherboard. There is no upgrade available. However, you have the CPU AMD A4 and you might fall into a 10 - 4600M. See page 83. It would be a major update and only would no treatment faster, but would provide a slightly better video chip since it is a "APU" with processor and video on the same chip.

    Finally, you can exchange the mechanical drive to a SSD drive. The upgrade of the speed would be very noticeable.

    That @banhien meant, however, the cost of this can equal or exceed a new laptop. and almost certainly will if you need to pay a technician to do it. The first update I is the RAM, then the SSD and then the last would be the CPU. If you need any help post more come back.

  • My dv7-7121nr has a place for 2 hard drives internally? (ssd)

    The subject says. I am wanting to add an SSD for fast loading games and windows itself, but I don't know that I want to sacrifice the size of the HARD disk here already. I doubt it has 2 slots, but I thought it would be good to ask.

    Hello

    All dv7s have 2 HDD bays, however only the first Bay is bootable, so if you want to boot from SSD, you need to install Windows on this drive and in Exchange for your HARD drive current in the second span in use for storage - you can also buy a caddy for the second span HP or a site such as this.

  • Is it dangerous for the HARD drive, the icon she samples D:\?

    Is it dangerous for the HARD drive, the icon she samples D:\?
    .. The example of the start menu button is also in D:\. (Classic interface)

    I downloaded the 'old' Nice and exchanged icons on my desktop.
    The user, workstation, trash ones and two new folders using the icons for them also.

    The question is - I moved these new icon samples in D:\ (which is not the main drive) and I was wondering if the PIN that reads the HARD drive is physically mobile all the time on one side of the disc to another. Because the icons are located in the D:\... and these icons are defined on elements that are found in C:\, lol!

    so I was wondering If it damage the hard drive (physically)!

    Please answer, thank you!

    Hi Kaloyan,

    Keep the icons in the D drive or any other drive which is not the main drive does not affect the HARD drive somehow.
  • Bought the new computer windows 10, itunes has changed location of support for external hard drive. The music does not appear in itunes.

    BOUGHT NEW COMPUTER WINDOWS 10, CHANGED ITUNES MEDIA LOCATION FOR EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE. THE MUSIC DOES NOT APPEAR ON ITUNES.

    Changing the iTunes media folder location setting affects only where new additions to your library will be stored.  To use a disk external drive to store your library complete (and assuming that you have access to the original data of the library on an old computer) you must copy the iTunes folder, by default in C:\Users\username\Music, on the external drive - structure library and its records should be like this:

    The hold button SHIFT DOWN when you start iTunes and when you see this message:

    Click choose a library... then find and select the iTunes Library.itl in iTunes on your external drive folder.

    For more information, see user turingtest2 on make a library of portable split.  You must also acquire a 2nd external drive and allows create and maintain a backup your library.

  • Alternative to the reset by Satellite A660 for potential HARD drive problem

    In the last week or two, I got a few blue screens, saying he was driving demand, and that windows must be shut down to avoid damage my computer.

    I have just restart and continue working.
    The last time it happened, I had repeatedly "initialization failed" and it says hdd, SDS, fdd. If I pressed the power button until I didn't see no signs of activity, then started. Things went well. I called Toshiba support and they recommended that I go home and save my files before continuing. It took hours selectively to clean, sort the previous backups, and a small footprint of the backup system.

    When I called Toshiba once again, they recommended a "takeover", which is restoring the factory settings. It puts me in the stone age. I have to go through a never-ending process of the upgrade to Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, install and reconfigure all the applications and environments/configurations, etc. It will essentially take on holiday, if not more. I'll also have to get another computer (maybe a netbook) to stay in touch while I restart my laptop. It's barely more than a year.

    Is there a diagnosis I can do to determine the probability that there is a hard drive problem? Support for Toshiba said that is the surest way, because it provides a diagnostic F10 for the hard disk code, and it also pushes the bad sectors at the end of the disc (logically, I suppose, since you can't physically move a fault).

    > About Hitachi DFT, is it important that my HARD drive is Toshiba mk6465gsx? This is what is displayed "Hard drives" in the Device Manager.

    It s no matter what HARD drive manufacturer, it is the Drive Fitness Test is able to scan all hard drives to find errors.

    > Also, http://www.hitachigst.com/support/downloads/#DFTshows links to create boot disks, but I was wondering if I could create a bootable instead.

    Not sure if this is possible if there is that one option to create a startup disk, and then a flash stick does not work. But of course you can try this out.

    > This laptop does not come with a floppy drive, and I still create coasters trying to burn discs.
    You don't need the floppy drive, the tool must create a disk bootable (CD)

    > I guess that the same question can be asked on Memtest86. Another issue is the relevance of Memtest86 for my system. My c drive has a "Program Files" folder, but also a "Program Files (x 86)" folder for 32-bit applications. Memtest86 is for the x 86 architecture. I don't know if my 64-bit Windows 7 involves a non - x 86 architecture.

    I guess that Memtest86 should also work on Win 7 64 bit systems. But also the MemTest 4.20 is 64-bit capable

  • 2x2.5 Z1 for the swap drive hard 1x3.5

    I have a new Z1 with the 1 TB 3.5 hard drive, which seems a bit noisy for me - not strong but sometimes annoying. I think I want to swap out for 2 2.5 HDs, a 128 GB SSD for the operating system, programs, and the second a spinner of 750Go. I checked with technical support to see if I would need an adapter and told me "the workstation requires one of the following carriers supported: 671193-001 supports a 3.5-inch disk hard;" supports a 671192-001 or hard disks of 2.5 inches of tw. "This was taken directly from page 48 of the Service Guide and Maintenance Z1 HP. But I can't find the list of one of these pieces on the HP site or anywhere else. What I find is the reference to B2P96AA, which appears in many places for $79 and more. Described on page 5 of the HP downloadable booklet "develop feed you - HP Workstation accessories" as the "HP Z1 HDD carrier Kit (for 3.5-inch drive or two 2.5-inch drives."

    "Does anyone know if the B2P96AA is another part that is installed in a new Z1 configured with a 3.5" drive. »

    Both Z1 product descriptions and description of part B2P96AA clearly suggest that a Z1 should work with either a disk 3.5 "or one or two 2.5" or readers without any modifications or additional investments.

    Maintenance of workstation HP Z1 and Service of Guide, page 48...

    The workstation supports only SATA hard drives.

    The workstation requires one of the following carriers supported:

    671193 001 supports a 3.5-inch hard drive

    671192 001 supports one or two 2.5-inch hard drives

    It is not possible to combine a HDD 2.5 inch and 3.5 inch hard drive.

    No cables adapters are required for all hard disks. The necessary cables for all hard drive configurations are included in the base system and automatically "blind mate" or "direct connection" to the drive during installation.

    My advice is to open your computer and pull the existing disc holder. This reference number, it is on this carrier?  Look at the space where the existing carrier came of... are there links to two discs? Do you see a space for a second aircraft carrier in the car?

    I tried to set up a company Z1 CTO and all readers have been listed as SFF (small footprint). It seems that hard drives 2.5 "come in up to 5 different heights... 5, 7, 9.5, 12.5 and 15 millimeters.

    Call HP about the correct configuration customer support and reference numbers. Two drives 2.5 "in two carriers? or two 2.5 "slim / SFF readers in the carrier waves? or what?

  • Disk Management screen 'Letters to lead change' grayed out for 2nd hard drive (IDE)

    BIOS and Device Manager see and correctly identify the Western Digital 120 GB IDE hard drive that I installed as internal hard drive (with jumper put Slave) to my new desktop.  Disk Management screen sees the drive, but it does not have a drive letter or volume: the central panel of this form, in the lower part, identifies it as disk 0, Basic, 111,79 GB and the brand as "Healthy (active, primary Partition).  Even when I right click on it, the context menu is all gray with the exception of "Delete the Volume" and "Help".  So I can't add a drive letter, and so I can't see the files on that disk.  It was my main drive under Win XP SP3 and has a LOT of files I want to copy on my new computer.  But my old computer is not bootable (except in Safe Mode, where I can see the files).
    New office (bought this week) using Vista Home Premium 32 bit SP1, completely up-to-date with the Windows updates.  No applications or other materials have been added.  Boot disk is SATA.

    KenF8,
    Of course, Vista does not see the volume.  He sees a hard disk, but does not recognize the data in this regard.  At this point, I would say are you will have to either return to the old computer and start in Safe Mode with network and try to copy the data over the network to the new computer, or copy data to a flash drive, external hard drive or DVD, or put the drive in an external enclosure that has either a USB or Firewire interface , so you can plug it into the computer as an external drive.  There is still no guarantee, however, that Vista will be able to read the data on the same drive in an external enclosure.

    You could search the net for third-party disk utility for which will work for the IDE drive brand, you have.  There are some on the market that can do amazing things with disks that have problems.

  • Options of data recovery for crashed HARD drive

    My friend HARD drive gone bad. She has not saved. She has her thesis on it (any resemblance to characters from the fictional movie, living or dead, is coincidentalt. "It's true).

    I know there are options to recover the data. But I'm not familiar with all of them and how much they cost.

    One of her friends which is a network administrator, and continued his studies of masters in computer security will attempt to recover the data for it. I fear that it may just try to boot from a CD and try to read the data, which can worsen the damage.

    What other options does have?

    Thank you

    If it crashed, she may need data recovery specialists.

    These are some $$$.

    You can read this:

    1. slave of your hard drive in another computer and read/save your data out there.

    2. put your Hard drive in a USB hard drive case, plug it into another computer and read/save from there.

    3 Alternatively, use Knoppix Live CD to recover data:

    http://www.Knopper.NET/Knoppix/index-en.html

    Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm
    Download the Vista software from the link above.
    After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.
    Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.
    Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1st in the boot order.
    Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.
    When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.
    Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.
    Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).
    Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.
    See you soon.
  • Mobile LR catalog for external hard drive
    I'm new and in the process of learning LR.  Currently, all my photos are stored and developed in my laptop, but it becomes too much for her hard drive.  I am thinkinng to move all of the LR catalog to an external hard drive.  Could someone please give me some advice how to proceed safely and also how to point LR to its new location, when I open the icon.
    Thank you very much.
    I am pleased to announce that the project has been successfully completed. Thanks to the advice of everyone. That's what I did:
    Some new pictures, asking them to be stored in a subfolder created in the new external hard drive G: has imported. This issue, namely "My LR Photos", is intended to store all my photos in LR in the future. I thought that this will force the G: drive is displayed on the Panel in my LR records. He did.
    Then, in the LR on the Control Panel folder, I moved each subfolder of C: drive for the new folder photo in G:. All photos moved smoothly with their predetermined data intact. None should be reconnected to the original sound.
    I relaunch LR several times to make sure it works and you have no problem at all. It seems to work faster now too.
    I want to thank all three of you for taking interest to share your knowledge and help me to do this without pain.  Best regards.
    Special note to JimHess: I really appreciate your conversation with dj_paige help air cake2 with his problem on another thread. I had a almost the same problem with my LR and worked it out well based on your and dj to air cake2 information.
