Exit 6 Express does not open Messages

Hey everybody,
I am new to this forum and I hope that I can
get help.  I currently use Windows XP Home Edition, sp3 and IE 8.  I've updated IE recently.  I did a virus scan last week and I inadvertently deleted msimn.exe because he was infected. I tried to restore from a backup file, but now the messages will not open.  Can someone help me fix OE or re-install?

You can enter in OE, but not display the correct messages? You can view the messages in folders other than the Inbox? Remove Folders.dbx as follows.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, find Folders.dbx and delete it.  Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

There are no surprises:

If Bruce's response does not help, then move all the dbx files in the message a directory of storage for OE will create a new message store.  Then see if that solves the problem.  If this is the case you can use the file | Import | Messages to get from the directory to which you move them.

Also check interference antivirus.  See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

  • Outlook express does not open links on web pages e-mail

Is no longer, I can click on a link of e-mail on any web page and that my outlook express open (6) upwards to compose new e-mail messages. Does not open upward.  Copy and paste is a poor solution band-aid if e-mail link name is different e-mail real address (often).
I think that an update of firefox (firefox8) may have disabled this... only guess. Hyperlinks to other web page still work. Just impossible to open link in email that opens my outlook express 6 to create new message and puts in e-mail address in the 'To' line up.

These also work: www.oehelp.com/oedef.aspx and www.oehelp.com/ielnk.aspx and www.oehelp.com/oelnk.aspx

  • My outlook express does not open.

I get errors the application could not open the Outlook Express message store. Your computer may be interrupted ot memorey or your disk is full. For more assistance, contact Microsoft support. (0x800C013B) then when I click OK it says Outlook Express could not be started because MSOE. DLL could not be initialized. Outlook Express is not installed properly. It was working fine and I have no memory problems. I have Windows XP.

    Help, please.

I can't restore to a day of classes, and I can't find the base of messages because OE does not open.

I tried to do it on my own from your site, but cannot go further.

    Thank you

See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#7 , you probably need to remove folders.dbx and OE should start.  After making a backup of your messages and if there is corruption still it would be advisable to go to the file. Identities and together a new identity and then when that works very well, go to file | Import | Messages to bring them from the old identity.

  • E-mail-Outlook Express does not open.

Don't know if I'm in the right place to ask this question. When I try to open my Outlook Express I get a box that reads, "Outlook Express could not be started because MSOE." DLL could not be initialized. "Outlook Express from my is not installed correctly.    He told me to contact Microsoft support. It worked fine yesterday until I clicked on a box to leave my files be compacted. Since then, I have not been able to open Outlook. I tried to restore my computer to 4 different dates, but he tells me that it is not able to restore to previous dates. I'm not a computer genius, so any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Which is good news for beginners.

Normally, restore bak files are a little easier, but since you had to create a new identity, you must import them manually.

Open the trash and all the bak files, you must drag the desktop.  Do not use the option restore.

    Follow the instructions here.

How to restore individual dbx files
    http://www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#imp1

You will need to rename them, and create the corresponding files in OE to their housing. It is not difficult, but read carefully and just do one at a time.

If you do not understand the instructions, post back before trying. You can drag an additional bak file on the desktop that you need not just to a series of tests.

    Folders.dbx is probably damaged.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

With OE closed, find the Folders.dbx file and delete it.  Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

    Note these possible side effects:

When you re - start OE, it will build a new index of all *.dbx files it can read and create a new Folders.dbx. Please understand that you will lose the mail directory structure, and message rules will probably have to be edited.

  • Outlook Express does not open. Keep giving me an error message & must shut

OE, click on get a message saying there is an error and needs to close.  Have not been able to open my mail for a while now.  Help, please

    Start here: http://www.insideoe.com/problems/errors.htm#crash

    Cautions general OE:

N ' not use Inbox or sent items to archive messages.  Move them to local folders created for this purpose.

-Empty the deleted items folder daily.

-Frequently perform a manual compact of all OE while records that "work offline".  More on http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm

-Do not cancel automatic compacting, where it would happen and do not try to close OE via Manager tasks or stop your Automatic compaction machine can take place.

-Disable e-mail scanning in your antivirus application.  It can cause corruption (i.e., loss of messages) and offers no additional protection:

    Hello

Security programs can affect the communication between a computer and the servers of Garmin. It may be necessary to disable security programs allow Garmin express communicate. See the instructions provided by the Publisher of the application to disable any security programs installed on the computer.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

When I click on the Home icon, it won't go to my homepage. I reinstalled Firefox but no different.

AVG said it's a Firefox problem

Looks like you have an add-on AVG broken in your 'profile' of Firefox - unfortunately reinstall Firefox does solve since it is part of your personal settings (also known as the name of the profile), not the application itself. I'm surprised AVG says it's a Firefox problem, because AVG was the one to add the add-on for Firefox.

In any case, try to disable the AVG addons that you have installed. They are not necessary for reasons of security anyway. Instructions here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Uninstalling%20add-ons?s=disabling+addon & r = 7 & e = & as=s#w_how-to-disable-extensions0-personassf-and-plugins
